Advantages: Size and looks; battery life. Disadvantages: Sound quality; price.
...The best thing about Sony Portable Audio players, is that they have a built in charger. Whenever your player is plugged into an AC adapter, you can charge the batteries without removing them. This is very convenient, as long as you have an outlet nearby. This player comes with one rechargeable AA battery which is very convenient. You can just recharge it whenever it runs out, and you never have to worry about buying batteries. Skip Protection The ... ...how G-Protection works, and since Sony has it patented, you won’t be seeing it on any other brands. From what I have read, it works to eliminate skipping completely, although that is just speculation. All I know is that it works. I have taken the MZ-R700 on a run, and as long as I hold it in my hand, it never skips. I tried attaching it to my belt, but the constant jarring began to cause problems after about 5 minutes, so the G-Protection is not ...

...bought this little baby, the Sony MZ-R700. Now before I go any further, I don’t want you to think that my op on the Sharp MD50 is a pack of lies, it wasn’t, and isn’t. I do like them, and was impressed with the performance. Its just that if you are in a sweet store with all these lovely sweets, well, in this case MiniDisc players, you can guarantee you always want what you can’t have right?
So, why do I like this one better ... ...with here……………
Once again Sony has lived up to the high quality that the consumer expects and gets from the company.
There is nothing that I can really complain about. Well apart from the ‘uselessbility’ of the optical cable and the crap carrying pouch that it. But in both incidences the obstacle in question was defeated, and no bitter taste remains. They were both easily sorted, and almost forgotten about. ...

...They are top quality Sony ones. They work really well and make the sounds being played, feel like they are coming from every direction. The ear pieces are big round one which you can’t just rest in your ears you actually have to twist them in. The length of the earphone cable is very short, so you have to plug it into the remote which is also supplied. When you put the earphones in you put the left one in first and then take the cable with ... ...battery:
You get a special Sony rechargeable battery. The battery is silver with a green end and it has the Sony MD logo on it along with all the other usual warnings that you get on a battery. The battery(when completely flat) takes about three hours to charge up and it will give(from what I’m told) 17 hours play back which seems about right.
AC power supply:
The voltage of the adapter is three volts. There is nothing special about it, ...

Advantages: great machine Disadvantages: maybe a little tricky to start with
...deserves. The Sony MZ-R700 is a portable midi disc player, for those of you that are not familiar with mini disc, it is basically a small disk (about 7cm squared) on which you can record music. Inside the small 7cm boxed is a tiny looking CD, although (I think) it uses magnetism to record onto it unlike CD’s that are physically locked into it. Thus giving greater freedom when using a MD as you can record over it again and again. According to ... ...like to think how much Sony would charge to replace it!
The rechargeable battery that comes with it isn’t one of those ones you can only get from Sony and is really expensive. It is a single AA battery. Which means you only need to carry one with you. With the battery fully charged, the unit will last ages and ages, as it is a very low power machine. If you run out of battery you can replace it with any other AA battery that you may have, ...

Advantages: Sound quality, recording quality, appearance, size (or lack of), light weight Disadvantages: The remote, clumsy menus, labeling tracks is a hassle
...also managed to get a Sony microphone, and I was recording a friend singing and playing guitar. While I was recording this, I didn't realise that in the next room, his brother was shouting about something. When I played the songs back, I could hear everything. Cars going by, said friend's brother shouting about something, an overweight beetle trying to turn over.... That last part was a joke.
Maybe it was the quality of the Mic, maybe the quality ... ...if you can get your hands on a cable that has a male 3.5mm plug on one end, and it's female equivalent on the other, do so to extend the distance between the mic and the MD, cause there a little bit of mechanical noise.
It's going to come in extremely handy for Uni. And spying. Cool.
But it's going to be a hassle if I need to do some quick spying.
It isn't the easiest thing in the world to use. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to play with ...

Advantages: Minidisc LP, Other Features, Value for money Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...outlet chain, Currys, and the Sony MZ-R700 instantly caught my eye. A cool blue, nicely priced, and great features. Minidisc LP hadn't been around for long the time I bought it, a kinda newbie technology which compresses music even further than it does on the original MD (which still amazes me because they're so tiny!) by a technology called ATRAC, so you can fit either 2 CD's worth or 4 CD's worth if you want - but more on that later! It also had ... ...- lets just wait if Sony can improve it further! MD as a format is definately giving MP3 players a run for their money. So if your'e thinking of an MP3 player - think again! Minidiscs are so cheap nowadays, and if you use the LP facility, you get MP3 quality audio for about £1.50 a disc for 4CD's worth of music. A definate swayer methinks for the Sony MZ-R700! ...

I've had my Sony MZ-R700 mini disc player for about 2 years now and i find a use for it in my working and none working life. Before i go into detail i'll explain briefly a couple of differences between MD players and CD players.
Firstly an MD player uses small mini discs which are about 7cm X 7cm. These look very simiar but smaller than a floppy disc you use for a PC, this gives the mini discs a big advantage straight away because the disc is protected ... ...my drums i use my sony MZ-R700 mini disc player to play them on.I find the quality is superb, you have a great range of volume and the bass tones are simply brill. There are 3 levels of bass which i find pretty good. The ear phones you get with the player are comfortable and can handle quite high volumes of sound and bass although i did eventually go out and by myself more expensive ones which incidently were sony too.I've got no complaints about the ...

...set about looking for another Sony portable recording MD walkman. I knew from a MD mailing list that the latest batch of Sony gear were sporting features such as long play modes or USB connectivity but unfotunately to date, no model encompassed entirely what I was looking for - the R700 was prolly about the closest to what I needed.

Still, you get used to this after a while although I dearly miss my old "Display" button - always ...

...own is all made by Sony because you know with Sony that you are guaranteed the highest quality sound possible.
And this model of md player is no exception,
It has an etimated playing time of a whopping 60 hours,
You can put up to about 4 cd's worth of music on a single md, made possible by a new feature which compresses the music into a smaller capacity.
it is quite hard to explain how it is done but who cares it works.

i think the mini disc is very good due to its superior quality over the cd. this new format in music plays sound at a much higher quality than a normal cd. this mini disc is thicker than the ones that just play because it records to the mini disc as well. the actual discs are slightly smaller than the width of the mini disc player. what they are are a miniture cd encased in plastic. this mini disc can range in price from about £140 up to about £200 ...
