Advantages great performance
Disadvantages not worth mentioning

my camera is a nex-5n, which is a second generation nex. nex-5n comes with improved sensor, higher MPixel count, touch screen and other features not present in the original nex-5. however, nex-5n is not in the ciao catalogue, nor will it ever be, as far as I understand. so my initial review here was on nex-5n, but it rendered itself useless, as it was automatically attached to nex-5. I chose to edit it to the bare minimum, as it might mislead somebody in search for a nex-5. nevertheless, if you accidentally got here with a nex-5n in mind, here it is in short - it's a great performance camera ... more

Sony NEX-5 with 18-55 and pancake lenes. 13/07/2011

Advantages Weight, ease of use, and superb quality.
Disadvantages Lack of lenses for this model at the moment.

Due to my arthritis I have retired some of my older heavier cameras and replaced with lighter models and the Sony NEX-5 has proved a excellent choice and the advantage of HD movies is ideal for the grand children and great shots with flash and possible red eye,sunrise and sunset shots are great. I have two other cameras but it is giving me the same pleasure my first camera I bought in the seventies. My first digital was a Sony but it was stolen and I really miss it. The pancake lens is first class, the kit is so light to carry down to the local beach in the early mornings with my other cameras ... more

Alpha NEX-5: a great four thirds camera. 10/11/2011

Disadvantages Microphone, Flash, Small lens availability

I bought the NEX-5 a few months ago, seeing as I wanted to take my frist step to owning a full DSLR. It's a great stepping stone from the ease of a point and shoot to the full range of functions of a DSLR. Built very solidly, it feels like you're actually shooting something a bit more professional. The NEX-5 is able to capture a very large range of colors in the image so images are bright and vibrant. Sony's TruBlack LCD Screen shows you exactly what the photo will look like on a computer, something many cameras do not do. Advantages Easy use, Long lasting Batter, Quality pictures

I love this Camera. Great picture Quality. Its either you like it or you don't. I'm sure you will like it though. Its not too big but its also not to small either. Very easy to use. My grandma Owns this camera and she has never had a problem with it. You know how older people have problems with technology these days and usually stick to the basics. well this product is very technological but so easy to use that my grandma dint mind buying it. She loves it. The battery life is great you never have to worry about going on vacation and having it die on you. If your looking for a good quality ... more
