Advantages Beautiful graphics for the size. Responsive Buttons. Not restricted to games
Disadvantages Relatively expensive. To protect against scratches etc additional expense required.

I've made a point of not reading any of the previous reviews on the PSP so hopefully my review comes across as unique. I'm a bit of a gaming addict - If there was Consoles Anonomous as a help group I'd have to attend daily. You'd think at 40 I'd have grown up by now but no such luck :) So it will come as no surprise that when it was launched in September I was one of those sad cases who went to town at MIDNIGHT to pick up my preordered PSP. For the technically minded who just want to know measurements/specs etc I will post these at the end of my review. So after 2 months of use what do I think ... more

If you are reading this then you want one. 1. Turn off the PC. 2. Go the the ATM 3. Withdraw £180 4. Buy one. Do not hesitate. Go get it ! This is an amazing handheld and everything about it is perfect; almost. Yes it has stunning good looks and yes the graphics on the games are outstanding and yes it is jam packed with features but it still lacks that last star. The Sony Playstation Portable is without any doubt in my mind the best handheld console available on the market, even today, several years after its worldwide release in 2005. Despite Nintendo's efforts with the DS, DSi, 3DS etc etc the PSP stands tall amongst the waves of new generation games with touch sensitive options and sometimes better graphics. Why? Because this has history, a backlog of classic games to fall back on, regardless of the new ones being released. Advantages Very "wow" at the minute, has to be held in the hand to believe!
Disadvantages Battery life, finger marks on the screen

Very impressive handheld, bought by parents from a visit in HK in Feb 2005. First impressions was that the handheld is simply stunning to look at, very small and very sexy! Was initially a little concerned that the console was a bit "too light", but that was corrected when I inserted the battery pack! Once fully charged - I believe 2-3 hours(?) the machine was booted up, initial impressions of the screen and brightness was very very positive. Bright and clear. Well just look at that, does it not remind you of some kind of high-tech gadget you would expect too see in a Bond movie? Well it is certaintly the dream come true in the gaming world. This little thing (well compared to PS2), has got almost every function that you can dream of. I first saw in the hands of my friend who secretly ordered it (to make sure he was the first). Today I managed to get my hands on the new ceramic White PSP. I had been looking to try out the PSP for months, the majority of that time just deciding on what colour I wanted, white or black. The RRP price of the white PSP is £179.99 for the value pack. Advantages Great picture quality, great variety of uses, designed well (nice size etc.)
Disadvantages Wont play regular DVD movies, game range slightly limited, somewhat heavy

I have to say I splashed out quite a bit for this but I do believe it was very much worth it! This is yet another great quality product from Sony! I have both played games, viewed photos I transferred from my laptop to my PSP unit and played a UMD movie on this and I find the picture quality nothing but truly impressive! I haven't found any problems with the screen being too dark or otherwise requiring me to squint to see properly, its got a good level of brightness and the audio quality is also impressive. INTRO The PSP (Playstation Portable) was announced at E3 in 2003 and was expected to be a revolutionary handheld gaming system - to outwit its opponents such as the Gameboy and the new Nintendo DS. i got my Sony PSP as a Christmas Pressent (2006) From my wife and so far cannot really Fault the machine out of the box as it was only the budget version did not come with a memory stick so i couldn't save games but fortunatly my mobile phone provided me with a 16Mb card till funds allowed Out of the box first thing to do is find the console its burried at the bottom of the box with all the other bits and bobs in the top of the box once found you need to install the battery.
