    Advantages Advantages Classic champion of consoles, has loads of great games, amazing value for money at the moment

    It's a darn shame that I am writing this review in this day and age - when next generation consoles are already out and chewing up the masses with their amazing graphics and sound capabilities.     In the beginning there was Pong. It didn't smell (boom-boom) but it was highly addictive, if a little boring after a while. Then there was Atari, and then Nintendo and Sega, and it was good. Then it wasn't so good, and wasn't really going anywhere, and needed a good kick up the jacksie.     Advantages Advantages perfect for the casual gamer, who only expects to spend a few sessions a month on it

    Disadvantages Disadvantages masses of unoriginal, mediocre games, poor control pad, most games can only deliver average graphics

    The exceptional success of the PSX would suggest that there was some kind of exceptional force behind it. This is true. The PSX was the first games machine to appeal to more than the hardcore gamer with a huge variety of titles spanning across every genre all for relatively low prices(about £30-35 is the most expensive you'll see a PSX game going for) and with the added bonus that with it being a console rather than a PC, every game you bought for it would play on it(provdided you bought a PSX game, d'oh!).     With the arrival of the Playstation 2 in the UK late last year and the imminent arrival of the new Nintendo console and Microsoft's X-box the original Playstation seems doomed to the yesteryear of gaming. Sure all the usual promises of developers carrying on making games for this magnificent machine have been trawled out as with any new console launch.     Advantages Advantages A catalogue of thousands of games, prices that just won't stop falling, supported by nearly all major developers and publishers.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Pushed to the back of Sony's priorities, software piracy, the sequels of the sequels have sequels.

    Full title: A tired old has-been or a sprightly console entering the 'golden' years? hah, that'll teach them to try and limit my 'special' characters, my 'over the 50 barrier' titles and my 'indecent exposure'.     After writing a review on Nintendo’s new console the Gamecube, I felt it only fair to write an opinion on what I believe to be the one of the best consoles ever made, the original Playstation. This console was a break through in the future of gaming and put Sony firmly on the map in the console world. I can honestly say I don’t know a single friend who hasn’t got this console, or who hasn’t had it.     Advantages Advantages cheap, small, fun and lots of cheap games available

    Disadvantages Disadvantages graphics are getting dated compared to recent standards

    I just thought I'd jump on the band-wagon along with all the other Playstaion and PSone owners who've written opinions already! But the difference between me and a lot of the other people is that I actually owned one of these cute little machines about a couple of weeks before Christmas, and... wel... let me tell you what happened... I was given the oportunity to buy a two week old PSone from someoone at work, about a month before Christmas.     When the PSX was released way back in 96 or thereabouts it marked the biggest leap in gaming since Space Invaders. Forget the SNES and the Megadrive this was the console we had waited for, arcade quality graphics and games to die for. Add to that CD quality sound and a great set of launch titles, as well as some great new ideas and we knew we had a sure winner here. When first released on us the PSX had a decent launch list of titles.
