...Good points: the SonyRDR-GX 210 S is easy to use very basic, and all the controls are normal, it has good sound quality and image quality.
Bad points: makes a lot of noise when loading a DVD (sounds like a fighter jet setting off), I have been having difficulties with the open and close slot it has a mind of its own : ), the SonyRDR-GX 210 S worked well for the first few days then I started noticing faults with the LCD display.
price:I bought mine for ₤115 brand new on special offer and it was a good price at the time, the price range for the SonyRDR-GX 210 S is between ₤135 - ₤200+, you have to keep your eyes pealed and you should search the internet for the cheapest prices, never pay more than ₤140!
summary: most of the time it works well and the quality is there, but when it doesn't work well it makes...

Advantages: compact size, easy to install and understand the instructions. Disadvantages: i can not think of any disadvantages only not owning one.
...the sonyrdr hxd 860 it is a very slim up to date machine it is slim and would look good in any surrounding , the tone and complete sound system is off a high qyality. it is easy to install and the instructions are easily followed. the remote is light and compact and easy to navagate. the recording of tv, films is good and fast pre set to record is good and the play back quality is good the picture, colour sound is high standard, this is an other good product from sony a brand you can trust. it is a very modern and stylish piece of equipment and fits into a small space, in any room it would look good. a real pleasure to have one....

...This combo DVD / HVS is not good at all.
VHS very poor quality in reading VHS tape, I also have Video recorder from SONY and I can see very clearly the difference of quality in reading the same tape on both equipments.
Nearly impossible to transfer Tape to DVD , SONY copy protection system is not working properly (even with my own video it says that it is write protected).
The only think I succeed to record was a film from the TV, that works good... but it's not for that I bought this DVD.
Also I didn't anyway to turn this DVD region free... no one knos the hack and tryed various for other SONY DVD and no one works........ so really not a good deal...
The remote control seems sometimes to do not works... I even change the batteries .. but still strange..
I had one RDR-VX410 but I'm returning it...

Like it or not, Freeview TV is coming - that's the over-the-air digital TV that bit by bit will see off analogue TV, and in fact the process has started, with the whole country slated to be 'cut over' by 2012.
