The AIT format is committed to preserving full compatibility across all generations. In line with the original roadmap, Sony starts volume shipment of the second generation AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape). The AIT-2 offers doubled performance: recording capacity of 50GBytes per cartridge and the transfer rate of 6MBytes per second (both native).
