Advantages Advantages Unbelievably Clear Screen. Stylish Design. Great Keyboard

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Floppy Drive. Too Little Memory. Expensive

With the FS-115Z and their range of Vaio computers equipped with the new X-Black display screens, Sony have gone a long way towards dispelling the myth that you can't replace a desktop system with a laptop. The only reasons laptops have failed to completely eliminate desktops has been the woefully poor display technology they have been saddled with and their poor upgrade ability. I've had very many laptops through the years and have always had to resort to using a desktop with a quality monitor attached if I needed to get a lot of work done. Well now there's no real excuse for sticking with ... more

Advantages Advantages X-black LCD, weight, Adobe Companion Pack

Disadvantages Disadvantages fell to bits in 18 months, too little memory, MS Works

Despite my initial delight, I can no longer recommend Vaios. The letters wore off the keyboard very rapidly, the CD-ROM failed once during warranty and again just after, the little plastic locking tabs broke, and finally the keys starting falling out, so I had to keep the keyboard covered with cling-film. Sony said this was due to "fair wear and tear". The laptop became totally unusable after 18 months. Comment added and rating changed retrospectively. What follows is the original review. When I made the decision to replace my aging desktop with a laptop, the crucial factor for consideration ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life sucks.

Sony VAIO FS115S I love Sony equipment, they do make some of the very best kit. In the video world you have such big brands as Bravia, HandyCam and in computing you have VAIO. And if you ever wondered what VAIO stands for: Taken from wikipedia:- VAIO, an acronym for "Video Audio Integrated Operation", is a brand slogan for many of Sony's computer products. The branding was created to distinguish items that encompassed the use of consumer audio and video, as well as being conventional computing products. There you go… Well I got this laptop during Christmas 2005 from a very popular large pc ... more

I looked at the time for a portable computer since some time, and I cracked for the VAIO of Sony. I bought it in the month of May 2005 to the FNAC and its performances are outdated surely since. +++++++++Its qualities: ++++++++ Light enough 3 kilograms, beautiful aspect, screen of quality, Battery Technology Lithium Ion I was able using it to judge the autonomie of the battery having forgotten to plug it on sector, the computer holds one then at two o'clock of autonomy in word processor dies out suddenly, but keeps its last data apparently. The price, quite expensive, £1027 with the WIFI ... more

Advantages Advantages lightweight, stylish piece of technology

Disadvantages Disadvantages keys and mouse pad take a bit of getting used to

I have had my laptop for around a month now and wonder how I managed without it. First of all it is so light and easy to carry around being the new slimline model and weighing in at 2.85kg. It has an intel pentium M 740 processor with a speed of 1.73Ghz, a 60gb hard drive with 512mb memory which is great capacity for games and graphics which are also aided by the 128 graphics card - most models around the same price come with a 64. The 15.4" TFT widescreen makes it great for not only using as a computer but also for watching dvds as it has a dvd rewriter drive as well as a computer card drive ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages positioning of USB ports

For a few months I have been thinking of replacing my trusty Toshiba laptop. Product loyalty should have led me to buy another Tosh but I allowed myself to be seduced by the good looks of the Sony! Now this Sony is fine and does what it says....the inbuilt wireless is excellent and finds wireless networks really quicky.........so make sure yours is secured or I could be round the corner piggybacking on yours for free.At the moment I am using it with a broadband modem which is equally good. This model has a 15.4 widescreen.......not totally sure i like this as like on a widescreen telly the ... more

Advantages Advantages light weight, extremely mobile and good for wireless internet

Disadvantages Disadvantages relatively expensive compared to other models, no infrared port

As a student, my laptop is my everything and this VA10 has made my life at uni so much easier. I use it for most things that is, internet, music, essays and other projects. Although this can be done on most desktops and laptops, what I like about this laptop is that it is extremely lightweight which makes it easy for me to carry to and from uni. Wireless internet is accessed easily by a push of a button on the laptop and it has just enough USB ports for things like a mouse, webcam or transferring data from other devices via usb. Also, the bright and clear LCD screen is excellent for watching ... more

Advantages Advantages Lightweight and very stylish looking. Good layout and good speed.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery does not last very long. Charging lead very short.

After looking at Laptops for a while we chose a sony product and were certainly not disappointed. The layout and style of this laptop is great and the Vaio screen options to view DVD's etc are very good. We are using the wireless modem which is supplied built in. This is fantastic and the reception is excellant. sitting in the garden surfing the net is a great idea. The only downside is the battery does not last long but so do most laptops. Also we took out the word processor programme and replaced it with word so it was compatible but that is not Sony's problem. All the sony products we buy ... more
