Advantages: Light, compact, screen display Disadvantages: Price, no floppy drive, hard to source
...go for one of the Sony Vaio S series. After much deliberation I decided on the S1XP - the top model of the series (there are three models - S1XP, S1VP (availble only from Sony) and the S1HP (base model).
The main reason for the purchase was to have soemthing lightweight but functional for travel. A lot of laptops seem to come with endless drives etc that need to be attached, not the Vaio - although not having a floppy drive may be seen as a disadvantage ... ...one - a USB memory pen is as good to transfer files from machine to machine.
The vaio is a smart laptop and have received comments about its appearance where we have taken it. The patented XBlack display gives a high quality display and better than a lot of flat screen monitors.
The unit measure: 224.8mm x 29.9mm x 312.5 and weighs in at a paltry 1.9 kg (including battery). Whilst at near enough £1,800 it is at the upper end of the market I do ...

(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
