Take a Walk on The Wild Side!

Advantages: Sleek, easy access functions, improved software and impeccable audio quality
Disadvantages: Timing- should have been out sooner?

...as a result. Sony are no strangers to the portable audio market, having been a prominent leader in the development of high quality technology for the past 26 years. Their first introduction being that of the cassette walkman 26 years ago, which charted Sony as the first for all portable audio products, with a reputation for quality and durability. Since then Sony have also jumped on the bandwagon with hard-drive products. However, as with much of ...
...Lo and behold the new Sony MP3 Walkman, brought to us in two capacities, 6 and 20 gigabytes. The NWA1000 (6 gig) will hold 4-5000 songs dependent on the file size you use, and the NWA3000 (20 gig) 13,000 tracks. Both, more than ample for the enthusiastic audiophiles amongst you. Both models share the same features, the only difference being in the storage capacity. Design The A1000 is a futuristically designed piece of kit, made of a translucent ...

...that I came across the Sony Walkman, on Dabs - where it had been reduced in price to £115.00. I decided, after yet more research that this was the player for me. I had used Sony products before, such as the cassette Walkman and their Discman CD player range, and they had always worked well. So, after much debating with myself, I took the plunge. The Walkman finally arrived within 3 days. As expected with Sony, the packaging was very stylish. The ...

**Playing with my new toy!!**

Advantages: great storage
Disadvantages: ummmmmm

...I paid £159.99pence for this Sony Mp3 player earlier on today. This was from my local Argos store but I am not sure if its available cheaper else where. Argos are usually pretty good so for the hassle of looking everywhere I usually stick to buying bits there. It comes in a fairly sturdy black case with all the bits bagged up inside. What it comes with ----------------------- Well inside the box obviously is the little Mp3 player itself. There ...
...and a software CD. Now at first I though I was missing a piece for the charger but on looking in the little "getting started" leaflet I found that the USB cable was also used for the charging the little thing. You are able to charge the Mp3 player wither by using the USB cable plugged into your computer and it charges off that or use it with the adaptor to charge from a wall outlet. I thought being able to charge it through your computer was pretty ...

Beautiful machine but comes with bad software.

Advantages: Beautiful to hold, looks great, Its very strong, sturdy, massive storage space on a HDD
Disadvantages: Sony connect is painfully slow and unreliable, some might find the EU noise reduction limit annoying.

...nice box, black with the Sony logo embossed on the front, i love those little touches! Further inside is the Mp3 player itself, it really is a treat opening this, it looks great, feels great. The player is about the size of a deck of cards and has a nice weight about it, very comfortable in the palm of my hand. When you turn on the mp3 player first time, you get 3 tracks of music on it so you can play straight away ( after 10 mins or so charging). ...

Disadvantages: Supplied software difficult to use, can be hard to see in bright light

...'artist link' button (exclusive to Sony walkmans) on the left side of the walkman. The charger and USB connection port is located on the bottom of the unit, with the headphone port on the top. The unit measures only 80mm by 55mm (considerably smaller than my old iPod) and feels a lot lighter. The software on the walkman is very simple to use with the navigation arrows and enter buttons, you can search for songs, artists or albums by initial, play ...
...long until I discovered that sony had released an updated version of the software (now called SonicStage) which is a lot easier to use and now works brilliantly. So my advice would be to forget the CD supplied with the walkman and install SonicStage (which is available through Sony's main site, or just google it) Overall though, the Sony NW-A1000 walkman is an excellent competitor to the Apple iPod and in my opinion has a lot more useful features ...

Nice compact mp3

Advantages: Small, Stylish, good quality.
Disadvantages: Screen can get scratched.

In my opnion the Sony Walkman is one of the best MP3 players around. It is small its dimensions are 86mm, 53mm, 11mm. It looks very good and can easily fit into you pocket. A bad point aabout it is the headphoes that come with it . one of the wires is long and the other is short. This stops you from having both earpieces in at once and having it placed in your pocket. This can easily be remedied by getting a new set of headphones, so don't let that ...
...music onto it. The Sony Connect player does not take long to install and when installed you can put music onto it to transfer to your Sony Walkman easily. Or you can import it from oher systems such as Media player. the memory is fantastic and can hold many many songs at little memory. If you are looking to buy a new MP3 player i would recommend the Sony Walkman for its many qualities and value for money. ...

Being "in" with this stylish purple Mp3 player.

Advantages: Great features, plenty of room for your fave music!
Disadvantages: Disapointing software, not great for slow computers (may not even work).

Most people who have looked at this Mp3 players, guys and girls have mentioned it's cool, cutting edge and modern design with simple easy to use features such as custom volume control (controlling bass, trebble etc), top 100 music tracks (automatic), play history (shows what you have listened to every day/month etc), artist/song/album search and "intelligent shuffle" (allows user to find random tracks from specific dates/years or by a specific genre). ...

From the start when I used it, it was slow but I could cope with it and could easily put my favourite music onto my player, however after a few months the software began freezing and a few weeks later wouldn't allow me to add or remove music from my player which has meant that i have had the same music on my player for around 4 months. Even after updating and then deleting and reinstalling the ...

Better than the Ipod, but not the best.

Advantages: Never crashes, easy to use, looks amazing.
Disadvantages: Gets dirty and scratched too easily.

The design of the walkman is (for a lack of a better word) perfect. It is sleek and shiny, the buttons are easy to press and are the right size, and the functionality is what you would expect from an MP3 player. I personally have 1200 songs on my MP3 player, and have enough room left on the hard drive to transport work to and from college on it. The box set comes with a USB cable (that goes everywhere with me along with the mp3 player) to plug it ...
...via a normal power socket, headphones with a short while and a long headphone extension cable. The box set is neatly packed and well presented. As much as I love the NW-A1000, I do have a few problems with it. Firstly, the price is asking a lot for just a 6 GB MP3 player. I recommend trying to buy it second hand, or waiting until the product is cheaper. I paid around £140 for it, i've seen it cheaper than that, and more expensive. Also, there are ...

...thing that really lets the Sony walkman down is the Sony "Connect" software that is supplied with the player. For me anyway it was difficult to configure onto my PC. and it just is difficult, and akward to use. The real problem is that the Connect software is the only means of transfering music onto the player, as direct transfer of files from your PC does not work. The files will transfer if you copy them across but the player will not recogine ...

The 6GB NWA-1000

Advantages: Smooth, cool, brilliant design, value for money
Disadvantages: power cord and dust problems

Wow! what a great MP3 player... idiot simple to use and a bright, clear screne. The brilliant sub division of menus makes this really simple to use, and, with its own line out function, a must have for you car or stereo system. The "artist link" button on the side works really well, providing related songs, albums and artists to the track that you are currently listening to. The 6GB storage means that you can store hundreds of songs at a decent ...
...of a pretty decent quality, unlike the ipod. However, due to the external transparent plastic layer, dist does tend to get underneath it, and so obscure the screen a little bit. I have not found this to be a major problem, rather an inconvienience in the stlye side of things. Also, the CONNECT software. Although a pain to get used to (especially as the internet database overwrites your own genre info), once accustomed, it is actually a very useful ...

Useless MP3

Advantages: Looks pretty, Different sound options, fits in pocket
Disadvantages: Battery gets worse, difficult to delete songs, difficult to get songs onto mp3

I got this for christmas about 2 or 3 years ago. I wanted a pink ipod but settled on this thinking I was getting a pink one. At first it was okay but then I found it awkward at times. The programme you use to upload your music onto the player started to play up. It became difficult to import my music into the programme's library and then put it on the player. When I wanted to delete a song, I couldn't delete it off the player, although I should ...
...when connected to the computer. The battery got worse over time. Soon I could listen to it for maybe 5 or 6 hours a day and it would die out. The battery charger is also a bit of a nuscence because of how you have to connect the plug part to the actual battery charger then plug that into the mp3 player. It also take up a fair bit of room if you have other electrical plugs around it. I think it would have been a lot better if it was all just one plug. ...

Ipod beater !

Advantages: Sleek, Excellent sound quality, Nice display, battery life
Disadvantages: Initial software a problem, Need to download better software.

...use with just one hand. Sony have come out with some new software called sonicstand cp which works better than the sonic stage u get the with player. It comes with headphones to match the colour of the player you choose which is great. It has a whole load of features which im sure no other mp3 player can offer such as its artist link. Personally i would go for this instead of any of the ipods! Great player overall once you download the new software! ...
...not quite as much as sony promise though, i managed to get about 20 hours on mine before it told me it was dying. One thing i will say is if you want to use the artist link feature you will need to wait a long time for your music library to be updated (this only needs to be done once). What it does is takes the songs details from a source on the internet and one by one updates all your tracks. Even on my 2Mbit connection it tuk me about 6 hours ...

Sony NW-A1000: Small, stylish,

Advantages: Size, style, quality, battery life.
Disadvantages: Software

...disappointed! With the NW-A1000, Sony have managed to create a small, incredibly portable and stylish player, with great sound quality and superb battery life. The design is quite unique - when turned off, the intuitive screen blends into the player. The first issue on most people's minds with regards to this model is whether it is worth paying a little bit extra and buying the size up, with a 20GB hard drive. Another member of my family had this ...

Sony 6Gb NWA1000 MP3 Player

Advantages: Trusted brand, durable quality product
Disadvantages: Software can be a pain to use.

The Sony Walkman NW-A1000 6Gb MP3 player is very user friendly. It has more than enough space to store most of the music you would need for the car or gym. As Sony were the original personal music centre creators, its kind of ironic that they have made a good, usable music player. The player itself is more blue in colour rather than violet (although the earphones definately look violet - I've replaced them for other Sony earphones) You need Sonic ...
...with, this can sometimes struggle to convert MP3s onto the player which is a pain. It means that on occasion, because the mp3 format isn't recognised (God Knows Why?) you need to burn the files onto a CD, then import the CD onto the music library for placing onto the MP3 Player. I've not had any issues with the device switching on while in my gym bag, so all in all, a tidy player which will fit in the pocket easily and cheaper than the comparative ...
