Advantages Advantages small and light for a DSLR, Fast & Responsive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Standard lens isnt great definately worth upgrading

I recently purchased one of these DSLR cameras, i went for a DSLR as i wanted something that would capture good action shots of moving cars/dogs and you just don't get the same result with a none DSLR camera. They are a far more responsive type of digital camera meaning you can take continuous shots of something so you don't miss a thing. They are not as small and light as you average digital camera but definately worth it for the extra picture quality. Features and Specification 10.2 megapixel - this makes it ideal for putting images onto your computer and then printing out without them ... more

Advantages Advantages Affordable, definitely an SLR camera, and not too demanding. Comfortable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages No LIVE VIEW, and 10MP may be a little small in the long-run.

This was and is my first DSLR camera. Photography fascinates me. I love looking at pictures and paintings. I've always wanted an SLR camera, and yet I had no courage and have been shy (and of course, no money) to purchase one, as most of them used to (and most still do) cost a home. I had this unfortunate wielding notion that DSLR was way too costly for me, forever. But with growing urges to obtain one, and also, my unfortunate (?) death of my SONY L1 Cybershot camera, I have decided to do some research. So I found out how important research is. I don't quite understand how this happened, and ... more

Advantages Advantages small and light, easy to use, good image quality, high ISO, price, dual card slot

Disadvantages Disadvantages noise at high ISO, complicated flash

The Sony A230 is an entry-level DSLR camera that has a small and simple user interface. With a bright 2.7 inch LCD screen in addition to creative style settings, sharp menu color scheme options and an on-screen help guide, the Sony a230 offers convenient operation with reduced controls. The shutter speed and SteadyShot indicator go hand in hand when taking multiple photos. This has been a prime camera for me for learning the basics of photography. I wanted to start small and somewhat cheap, but worth the money. It is quite sturdy, as well, and changing lenses is easy because of the red dot ... more

    Advantages Advantages picture quality ok

Disadvantages Disadvantages product quality and customer service

I am really frustrated with Sony and my Alpha DSLR, a product with inferior build quality and a customer service that lays the blame on me instead of acknowledging quality problems. I have bought it sometime in 2007 and only had problems with it. After some weeks it just wouldn’t turn on anymore and it took Sony several weeks to get it repaired and back to me. Now when I take pictures the resulting file shows a different field of vision than what the viewfinder showed me. Even worse, there is a black right upper corner in every one of my picture. After several tries to get to the right person ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use. Ability to be more adventurous. Robust

Disadvantages Disadvantages The cosmetics look tired prematurely.

Having been a 35mm SLR user in the past this was my return to th SLR fold and wow, was it a good one. The quality of the pictures are stunning and the camera is easy to use. Initially using the auto mode to get back into learning the art the images are crystal clear and full of vibrant colour. The camera has been all over the world with me and taken quite a battering but still functions like the day it was bought despite looking a little tired. Once you have mastered the art of getting the right shot, the camera has all of the additional functionality needed to start to get really creative ... more

Advantages Advantages comfortable grip, clear photos, reliable, easy to use, nice features, good price, nice looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages no video mode, flash gets a bit annoying, semi-short battery life

I have been into photography/photo editing for a few years but my parents could never afford to buy me a nicer camera. This christmas, they surprised me with this one and I was so pleased by it. The only complaints i have about it are its short battery life, multi strobe flash (not sure if there's a way to change this), and no video feature. It is very, very reliable and also very durable. The lens that it comes with is nice enough for some stunning shots. I've used this camera for everything from family shots, to self portraits, to macro shots, and even photos of fast moving things such as ... more
