Advantages Advantages beautiful graphics, fast sound

Disadvantages Disadvantages can get frustrating on higher levels

A little History *************** Back in the days of the Dreamcast, Soul Calibur appeared, a game I had never heard of before this point, I remember thinking the game was amazing and the Dreamcast’s Tekken beater in my opinion. Namco is a great company, they are behind the success of the Playstation with bringing out ridge racer on launch and what a game. So knowing Namco was behind this game I rushed too the shops to and purchased my copy for £39.99. The story ********** The story is based on a legend on a sword called soul edge, which is meant to contain all power, and greatest, The legend ... more

Advantages Advantages Incredible graphics, deep intuitive gameplay, yet still suitable for all abilities

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can resort in button mashing... that's it!

Spanning two and a half generations of consoles, Namco's weapons based fighter is becoming just as popular as their other beat-em-up of note, namely Tekken. Namco's Soul franchise is a 'Tale of Two Swords', locked in an eternal battle over time and space. Soul Edge, the evil sword, against the legendary Soul Calibur, sword of benevolence. Over decades, warriors from across the globe have sought them out... yadda, yadda, yadda. ~The name's Mitsurugi, remember it~ The beauty of Soul Calibur II (SCII) is that it can be played as shallow or as deep as you like. Those who don't like remembering ... more

Advantages Advantages nice selection of characters and locations and Link from zelda is playable!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn`t feel quite as memorable or fun as Soul calibur on Dreamcast

I bought this game about 3 months ago for my gamecube,as I had already owned the Dreamcast classic of this great 3D weapons based beatem-up. Basically stripped down this is a beatem-up albeit with weapons, but that would be taking a very cynical and overly genralised view ,the beauty of this game is the way all levels of players can enjoy it ,be it button bashing amateurs ,to people who have spent hours and hours perfecting counters and special moves. The animation like in the dreamcast version and the original Psone version is probably the best ever seen in a beatem-up.the fighting moves link ... more

Advantages Advantages excellent graphics & good one player modes

Disadvantages Disadvantages is there enough depth to keep you coming back?

I'm not a big fan of 'beat em ups' in fact the last one I played was Street Fighter on the SNES. But SC2 came with such high recommendations that it seemed wrong not own it or at least have played it. Does it really live up to the hype? Well overall yes, any fighting game that keeps me playing for hours on end must have something going for it. The graphics are superb arcade quality and the sound effects are spot on. Plenty of characters to choose from all with their own unique moves to master. As usual they range from the quick and speedy lightweight to the lumbering but big damage inflicting ... more

Advantages Advantages fast paced, action packed fighter

Disadvantages Disadvantages you may need a friend to enjoy the full potential

A game which was hihgly aticipated after the great success of the first one in the series. There is a wide variety of characters to chose from each with their own different fighting style and charachteristics. The game is pretty massive with lots to unlock and the fast paced action and superb graphics will make you 'finish' the game. The storyline in one player mode is rather weak and you probley wont pay much attention to it but just want to get on with the fighting but get a friend round and you will have great fun taking pride in the amount of times you can perfect K.O them. The controls to ... more

Advantages Advantages Lush graphics, very strategic gameplay and hundreds of button bashing moves to perform. Back stories galore and interesting characters.

Disadvantages Disadvantages 1 on 1 multiplayer only, can be a little complicated and incredibly frustrating.

The graphic on this game will make your eyes water, they are so incredibly detailed and flawless. Of course the game begins with fearless warriors on a quest for "the ultimate weapon " and thus Soul callibur is introduced, the weapon that is the source of all evil. Using one of the many interesting characters you must destroy every opposition in order to claim Soul callibur. The gameplay is so incredibly liquid and easy to pick up, within minutes you will be performing button bashing moves and weilding unusual weapons while getting caught up in the classic story of good v evil. Each character ... more

Advantages Advantages Awesome graphics, truely inspiring, excellent controls and gameplay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stick with it for an hour as it starts easy.

This is probably the best beat 'em up i have ever played, there are so many characters to choose from, most of which are original, i think it's clear that the NGC got the better deal with link as the console exclusive character. When you start the game, all seems a bit empty, yeah there are the standards like arcade mode and weapon master mode, and you think that this might be perhpas a bit short and dull? wrong. once you get going and start raking in the cash on the available modes, you seem to have TOO many. The weapon master mode adds to the challange and there are tons of modes to choose ... more

Advantages Advantages Large Variety of weapons, characters and good story.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Longlivity, its good until you complete it.

This game is worth buying if you like fighting genres, it has a massive amount of weapons, with 11 for each character. The choice of characters is great because their are many different styles the characters use, such as destructive, samurai and ninja-style. The sound and graphics are top quality for gamecube and you get cool speeches from the characters at the start and end of a battle like "Don't cry" "Massacre" "is their no other way" "I'll crush you till you squirm" It has and exeptionally good Weapon Master Mode, which is like a story going after the Legendary swords "Sole Calibur" and ... more
