Advantages Advantages The graphics | Character Creation | Fighting gameplay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of Story | Lack of Effort in general

Difficulty: Medium Learning Curve: Around 30 minutes With the massive hype Soul Calibur IV has received, being the first instalment of the Soul Calibur series to reach the new generation of systems, you'd hope that it would bring great things. While in reality, this game has just brought a half finished game that only excels in certain areas, while others were left out to die. I'll start from the top. The games graphics are exceptional, revolutionary even, and the new tweaks to the gameplay have really made this feel like a big improvement from all fighting games out there. But what really ... more

Advantages Advantages good graphics and game play, customisable characters and online vs mode

Disadvantages Disadvantages The music can be a little repetitive, it might be the last one in the series!

Soul Calibur IV is the fifth in a line of weapon based fighting games made by Namco Bandai Games The series is based around two swords; Soul Edge and Soul Calibur. The first being a sword which has a soul of it's own and the second being a sword which can counter the first. The game is based in the 16th century and although each character has their own motivations, they are all on the search for the sword Soul Calibur. I remember playing Soul Blade on the PS1 and was pretty hooked on the game from the word go. Soul Calibur was available for the Dreamcast a few years after this. From these two ... more

Advantages Advantages great gameplay, graphics and multiplayer

Disadvantages Disadvantages short single player for each character

Soul calibur 4 is definately a game to get if you enjoy fighting games, and especially if you enjoy multiplayer fighting games. Although the single player aspects of the game are good in a sense that every charater of the game has their own unique story there are alot of cinematic endings to watch. There is a rather large selection of fighters to choose from, each with their own personal fighting technique and weapon with a variety of moves for you to master. As if this wasn't enough you can create your own character as well, given a huge selection of clothing and accessory items to upgrade ... more

Advantages Advantages Yoda is so small you can usually beat anyone

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited moves

After playing all the previous Soul Calibur's I found this one a little confusing, I understand that most of us like star wars, which this game features Darth vader the apprentice and you can also download Yoda if you have access to the internet, but if you choose to play with one of these characters against a usual soul calibur character for eg Ivy or Nightmare they can seem pretty useless as their moves are very very limited unless your a master and learn all their moves. They have a bar underneath their helth which is force power, this allows you to perform special moves but again it is a ... more

Advantages Advantages Amazing game play and brillant moves

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to download yoda for a price

A brillant even better than the lastest tekken. There are alot of new charcters and most of the old ones. In the ps3 version you get to use darth vader but have to download yoda for a price. The are tons of special moves a few just way to powerful and unblockable if you want to play online you need a really good conection to get the best value out of it our your just gona get your ass handed to you everything. There are loads of clothes to put on your characters remeber don't just go for them cause the look so good the also give you more power. A lot of weapons to suit your character out with ... more

Advantages Advantages A good graphic images , A combination of a very good combo

Disadvantages Disadvantages Short story mode and less good , No team battle mode

Soulcalibur IV has improved visuals and gameplay has undoubtedly grown, still feels very familiar. And that's no bad thing. Some of these characters in a list of Soulcalibur IV will also be familiar if you're a fan of the series, although only about half of the 30 fighters plus available at the beginning, including Darth Vader in the PlayStation 3. Others will be opened by beating them in the single-player Story and Arcade modes, and by buying them with gold that you are awarded for winning fights. There are more than enough variety on the list to ensure that you can enjoy playing as at least ... more
