Specsavers Soft Contact Lenses I have been going to Specsavers for years now for eye checks and I have also been purchasing my glasses from Specsavers for the past five years or so. Although I went with a friend to her contact lens appointment and she kept saying how amazing contacts were – so a couple of weeks after that I booked my own contact lens appointment to see if I would like contacts and if they would be suitable for me...I haven’t gone back to glasses since and I don’t intent to. - Product description (from specsavers.co.uk) “Specsavers’ contact lenses are a convenient and great ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy and comfortable to use, good value for money as part of all-inclusive package

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cheaper alternatives available online

I've been wearing contact lenses for over eight years now, initially for reasons of vanity as I hated needing to wear glasses constantly once my eye sight deteriorated in my mid-twenties. I'd always been a bit uncomfortable about the idea of using contact lenses, though, as I felt squeamish about poking around my eye-ball, but I was tempted to give them a try thanks to Specsavers' free two week trial offer. Well over eight years later, I'm still using the same type of lenses which must say something about the quality and convenience of these lenses and the excellent service I've received from ... more

5 Stars Eye Like These Lenses Review with images 06/05/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, affordable, good customer service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poking yourself in the eye

I have been a customer of SpecSavers for at least 12 years now. I've had to wear glasses my whole life, and only have sight in one eye. For a very long time, I was never allowed to wear contacts lenses. I was advised that there was too much risk of me getting an infection in my good eye - potentially developing sight problems or even worse, causing me to lose my sight and be classified as blind. Over the years, with the advance in technology, the risks seem to have reduced. Upon having my eyes tested, I saw the nice people at SpecSavers who told me I could have contact lenses...at last! I was ... more

5 Stars Should have gone to Specsavers Review with images 07/05/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages care and afterservice is excellent

Disadvantages Disadvantages lenses work out more expensive

Around six years ago I started having headaches and noticed that reading road signs that should be quite legible were blurry until right at the last minute. I put off going to the opticians as it seemed to be just one of those expenses I just didn’t need. I carried on squinting at things trying to improve my view until finally I gave in and went to the opticians. I went to Specsavers on my first ever optician visit and the reason being was at the time they were doing a great deal on two pairs of glasses; I think it was buy one and get your second half price or something equally good. At the ... more

Advantages Advantages Use and throw - no cleaning, no fussing

Disadvantages Disadvantages I got too lazy to use them and stopped after 10 years or so.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to put in contact lenses I was resistant to wearing contact lenses for a long time. This was partly based on fear or lots of fuss and bother. I’m not very disciplined about any regime that requires me to pay attention to things when I’m half asleep and I had always assumed that contact lenses would be a lot of fuss and bother with bottles of goop and funny little storage cases. My other reason for not wanting to try them was that I don’t generally wear my glasses all the time and they tend to spend more of the day perched on top of my head ... more

Advantages Advantages No Glasses, Very Good Price, Fantastic Aftercare, Helpful Staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slight Risk of Infection, Can Sometimes Be Uncomfortable

As so many people in the United Kingdom, I have been unfortunate enough to have poor vision from the age of 10 realising I have progressive short sightedness so throughout High School. As many people in my situation have long time realised, it is a massive pain in the backside having to wear glasses as they get dirty, can sometimes be awkward and can be broken, leaving some of us as good as blind. Myself being quite an active person, I face all the for mentioned on a daily basis. Thankfully the magical science type people have come up with Contact Lenses which eliminate the hassle of glasses ... more

    Advantages Advantages quick, informative service

Disadvantages Disadvantages sometimes when I am tired the contacts make me feel tired

My Specsavers experience, glasses to lenses... I never wanted to wear contact lenses as I thought that anyone who spent the extra money on lenses must be so vain when glasses are just as suitable and much cheaper. I have had to wear glasses for the past twenty odd years, my vision slowly started deteriorating as a hit thirty and then it was a slippery slope! Luckily, my eyes are not too bad but I do look after them and have regular check-ups. If you think you need glasses, then you should really start to consider going to an optician as you can make your eyes worse by not going. Around four ... more

Specsavers lenses It was 9 years ago now when I first went to Specsavers to get my eyes checked as I was having difficulty seeing the board at school. When I had my eyes tested they said that I needed glasses, which wasn’t much of a surprise to me, after trying on lots of glasses, I realised that I just didn’t have that ‘glasses face’, and no glasses seemed to suit me, so I decided to try out contact lenses instead. I must have been around 16 when I first started wearing contact lenses, and Specsavers were really good to me, they sat me down and showed me how lenses go in and out, how to clean ... more

Advantages Advantages They get delivered to my door, Great value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Take a bit of getting used to

I have had to wear glasses now since i was about nineteen or so. I decided it was time to give in to the fact my eyes were not as good as i thought one day when I was at a Kilmarnock game. When it turned out the player I thought had scored was not even on the pitch I new it was time for the old eyes to get checked out. Off I went the following Saturday to the Optician's where I got my eyes checked out and was told I was slightly short sighted and would definately need a pair of glasses for driving at least. I left the shop about £150 lighter and feeling very self contious with my new glasses ... more

My Story When I was younger, for many years, my older sister and mother both wore contact lenses and glasses. Luckily for me, when I was growing up my eyesight was close to perfect. I heard them say many times that they would be lost without their lenses but I never really understood quite what they meant. That was until I started University at 18. I started to struggle with distances and seeing things far away soon became a difficulty for me. I was away from home for the first time and so my mum made sure that I went for an eye test. I went to a local optician and after some tests he ... more
