Advantages Advantages Boosted my confidence, more practical, and easy to wear

Disadvantages Disadvantages I can only wear them 12 hours a day at the mo.

For those of you who don’t already know, I am blind. Not in the literal sense, because then I most likely wouldn’t be reading and rating your opinions! No, what I mean is that I’m short sighted. I found this out at the age of 12 when I started secondary school, which didn’t particularly bother me; in fact the thought of getting glasses excited me, because I thought they were fashionable. It’s only when I started getting a few comments about them being nerdy or the odd “four eyes” getting shouted at me that I began to feel unhappy. I then plagued my dad to let me have contact lenses, but he ... more

Advantages Advantages No steaming glasses, no window wipers required when it rains, excellent for physical activities, it can take years off your appearance

Disadvantages Disadvantages Specsavers service is mixed, some very bad and some very good

I have been a Specsavers customer now for about four years. I first started using them when I decided to switch to contact lenses. Personally, I think changing to contact lenses was one of the best decisions I have made and at the time I remember thinking I wish I had done it sooner. Straight away I felt the benefit especially where keep fit is concerned. It makes a lot of difference when you can actually see the instructor! When you begin wearing contact lenses, you are required to have an eye examination by the optician. You are then instructed on how to insert and take them out. The ... more

Specsavers Contacts I have been a customer of Specsavers for years now and have wore contacts on and off for nearly 10 years. As I have had to wear glasses from a very young age, I have been used to wearing glasses and contact lenses. I do have to say from experience that not all contacts are comfortable and different brands and types do make a difference to your eyes, some people don’t actually realise this. Last year I decided to get contacts again after my daughter was born as I was not able to wear them during my pregnancy as they irritated my eyes too much so I visited Specsavers to see ... more

Advantages Advantages Contact lenses are now much cheaper, safer and more comfortable. Specsavers also do good deals.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lenses are soft so can be damaged if you don't take good care of them.

I’ve been wearing contact lenses since the beginning of 2001. I’ve only tried this type of contact lens so I am unable to compare between different makes, but I can describe my experiences and the good and bad things about it. First of all this is the Specsavers’ Monthly Disposable range. Specsavers also offer in the EasyVision range: Daily disposables – wear a set of lens for one day so you dispose of at the end; very low maintenance required. This option is also quite expensive, as you need to pay for several sets of lenses, which are expensive to manufacture. Monthly ... more

Advantages Advantages fantastic service, competitvely priced

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old; my first glasses being an exceptionally ugly pair of NHS specs. There are pictures of me as a teenager with big hair and even bigger glasses which I thought looked cool at the time but now realise made me look like an owl! I have always trusted Specsavers with my eyecare so when I decided to make take the plunge and get contact lenses they were the natural choice. I will walk you through the process so that if you are interested in getting contact lenses then you will realise it is a pain free procedure. It is important that you book a ... more

Advantages Advantages Can be worn continuously for 30 days

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little uncomfortable

This opinion isn’t directed solely at referees, but at all people who suffer from less than perfect eyesight, so please read on. :-P If you’re reading this op with an interest in this product as a consumer, THEN I’D BETTER WRITE IN CAPS, EH?? Then again, under netiquette rules, writing in caps is considered fairly obnoxious behaviour so grab your magnifying glasses and I’ll get going… First things first, don’t come at me with that laser!!! Stay away, I don’t care if the anecdotal evidence is that the majority of people are thrilled with laser eye ... more

    Advantages Advantages None at all!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Appalling service, very poor quality and ill fitting lenses

I've been wearing contact lenses for years, I think the first time I tried them I was eighteen and I'm still using them now sixteen years later. Obviously I've swapped and changed brands plenty of times over the years, and at the moment am using Specsavers soft monthly lenses. I'm not very happy with them, I'll get that out in the open straight away. They are uncomfortable after I've been wearing them for a few hours and if I go into a smoky atmosphere then the smoke seems to wind its way behind my lenses and irritates my eyes like nobody's business! These lenses cost £10 per month; for that ... more

Advantages Advantages No more glasses !

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can irritate eyes and takes getting used to

I have had rapidly deteriorating eyesight since the age of 15. I can remember sitting in my GCSE maths class, squinting at the black-board, it was then l realised that l needed to go to see an optician. So off l went to Curtis Opticians, Carlisle Road, Londonderry, where l was told l was short sighted with a slight astigmatism in my right eye. So there l left with my Deirdre Barlow style frames in a subtle apple green and navy blue – SEXY! I wore my specs right through until very recently. When l graduated in 1996, mum said she’d get me contacts as a present. Why choose such a ... more

Advantages Advantages No glasses, all round vision, sport and looks

Disadvantages Disadvantages Come in stupid cases that are a little complex if you can't see (I lose them when I don't put my glasses on straight off)

I've been wearing contact lenses since I was 13 years old, and it isn't just vanity it is about more than that, especially to a 13 year old girl. Personally I think it is a matter of confidence even if they don't make you look better they definately make you feel it, and they way you feel definately affects how you act and how you are recieved. Looks get you everywhere, I did psychology coursework to prove it, even in court attractive people are more likely to get off. Personally I hate the stereotype associated with glasses, the swotty, unattractive, studious, maybe intelligent loners. Not ... more
