Advantages Advantages Facilities are very close

Disadvantages Disadvantages Number of people you share with

I'm currently in my first year at the Stoke campus at Staffordshire University, and I really like it. It is situated very good, right next to the train station, a 5 minute walk from Stoke, and with regular buses every 5-8 minutes to the City Centre. On campus, there are plenty of facilites: Union shop, Police, LRV bar and nightclub, Sports centre, astroturf football pitches, computers, and on the other campus on College Road there's another bar, the Student's union, the library in a separate building of its own, more computers, and another union shop. There are plenty of halls in and around ... more

Staffordshire University - ever heard of it? I hadn't before I started to look for courses to do at degree level whilst in 6th form. I came to Staffs Uni (as it is more commonly known!) in September 2002 straight after finishing my A Levels - no year out for me! So here we are - an overview of Staffs Uni: ----Location & Transportation---- Stoke-on-Trent is in the Midlands in the UK - I DARE you to call any Stokie a northerner (being a southerner myself) they HATE it. Stoke-on-Trent is separated into several sections or 'wards'. Kind of like London is separated into districts. The university is ... more

Advantages Advantages Down to earth place/people, cheap.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't sound as good as some Uni's on your CV

I must point out that I attended Staffordshire University (Stoke Campus) between 1997 & 2000, so can't comment on any changes implemented since this time.... I chose Staffs Uni as one of my 'possibles' for a couple of reasons - 1. The entry level was low to medium on the points scale (I wanted to choose a range of Universities, so that I would be covered whichever way my A-level results went), 2. The location (only 2.5 hrs drive from my hometown, so not too far for getting home in the holidays, but far enough to not have my parents breathing down my neck!), 3. Cost of living (one of the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Computing Facilities

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Nightlife

I’m in my first year at this University doing a HND Software Engineering. IT FACILITIES The computing facilities are of an excellent standard with links to the surrounding colleges and the Stoke Campus. NIGHTLIFE The night life in the area is a bit limited and only really caters for people who like Dance, Garage etc. (Let me know if I’m wrong!) The Bar and Nightclub are a bit small to cater for a large number of students forcing them to try the local Nightclubs, Zanzibar and Reynolds which become very busy on Tuesday and Wednesday (Student Nights) while the rest of the week being quieter ... more

Advantages Advantages Sports clubs, some friendly people, IT facilities

Disadvantages Disadvantages some nasty people, some accomodation

I have been at Staffs for a year now on a four year business sandwich course. The uni it self is quite good. It has good facilities such as the union and all the sports clubs. My course has been ok so far and should get better. Freshers week is brilliant and I am going to be there doing it all again this year. The on campus accomadation is pretty poor as there are somtimes 20 people in a prison cell sized room each and all sharing a kitchen between them. Off campus is by far the better accomodation as long as you get in Thompson House. It is right in the middle of Hanley which is the town ... more

    Advantages Advantages Stoke

    Disadvantages Disadvantages majority of people

At the time of writing this I am about to go back into my third year on a Bsc Product Design Technology degree. Since I do the Bsc i'm based down at Stafford and its pretty much everything you would expect university NOT to be. Now if you like sitting in your room all day playing on computer games don't like girls and don't drink you will love it here but if that doesnt sound an appealing way to spend 3 years of your life then i'd run for the hills. Since the Stafford campus is mainly the faculty of computing engineering and technology you can imagine the sort of people that this campus ... more

    Advantages Advantages Being in stoke

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Being in stafford

This university is agood place if you want to do computing, and also music so it seems. The computing facilities are the best in europe and also are very available at most times unless you come at the most busiest periods then it may be hard to find some where to park yourself. The Lecturers are VERY varied, some are fantastic while others are crap. the amount of subjects available are very good and also very diverse, although it can be a pain when not enough people choose a single subject and they tell you that it has changed from this place to to this place or that it is not going on at all ... more

Advantages Advantages Great technology, great campuses, great unions.

Disadvantages Disadvantages campuses are spread out.

Having been a year at staffordshire university the first thing I can say is...wow. The expierience has been nothing but positive. On the work side of things, the staff are always available and are very down to earth and will always listen to your problems be it academic or anything else. The facilities are fantastic when it comes to my area of Sport Science, with labs full of expensive sports analysis equipment including a Vicon motion analysis system worth over £130,000 this really is the place to be for cutting edge sports technology. On the social and many would say more inportant side of ... more

Advantages Advantages awsome campus and studies

    Disadvantages Disadvantages negligible

I must staffordshire has gained so much popularity at a very limited year and time. Bravo to the campus and staff people. Not only that you can look the reviews by the students of stafford campus and not by those of on stroke on trent. Nightlife doesnt matter to students of computing and engineeing because we are here to study raher than enjoy. You can enjoy by going near by places like birmingham or manchester in a month or week. Staffordshire university may become UK's one of the top university very soon. Overall its rating should be 4.5 and i want all other reviews to be rated atleast 4.5 ... more

Advantages Advantages Good University, Good Courses, Good IT

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited texts on some courses, not a brilliant area

Spent one year of a History degree at this university. The facilities were not too bad, but the general availability of history texts was not good. Facilities to learn languages were there as part of the degree course or not. There were however some good Historical lecturers.. and the course being geared towards modern history was flexible. They also have excellent modular degrees, which allowed the combinining of subjects in the strangest of ways, so good if you dont really want to specialise in any chosen subject. Student accomodation was varible, but well equipped. The cost of the ... more
