Another babycare op, yawn....

Advantages: Great in emergencies
Disadvantages: Expensive if used all the time

I am a bit of a flutterbrain to say the least. I am constantly forgetting things and drive myself crazy. Anyway, the other day, while my husband was out at work I set off with the little uns just to the shop around the corner to buy some bread. I didn't take a bottle for my 4 month old daughter Mia as I thought I'd be there and back in two minutes. Just as I shut the front door I realised that I'd locked my keys inside the house and myself and ...
...much of a dilema, I'd just look round the shops or visit someone until my hubby got home three hours later. However, I had Mia with me and there was no way she would get through the next three hours without her current hourly bottle of milk she has! I panicked as I realised that even if I bought her a new feeding bottle I would not be able to use it as it would not be sterile and could make her very ill. It was in my panic, frantically searching ...

Great For Days Out - If they don't leak :0(

Advantages: great for emergencies and away days
Disadvantages: it can be quite difficult to screw the top propery - no second chance if it leaks

Background. I have a fantastic (first) grandchild named Riley. I think he might have hollow legs. I help out making and sterilising bottles, but he sometimes runs out of milk. Then I went on holiday just about the same time as my daughter had some decorating done and new carpet laid. In the general hubbub one of the helpers ‘hid’ most of Riley’s bottles. They weren’t found until the work was done and everything restored to its usual place. Thank ...
...Boots and Mothercare as well as on-line from http://www.travellingwithchildren.co.uk/ they come in packs of 4 or 12 packs, although you might only get the 12 packs on-line. There are 3 types, sizes 125 ml and 250 ml with medium-flow teats for babies up to 3 months and 250ml for older babies presumably with fast-flow teats. Description Each bottle is individually wrapped and sterile and comes with a teat cover.. About the hardest thing is getting ...

Steri-bottle = Veri-good!

Advantages: Convenient, recyclable, anti-colic design
Disadvantages: Can leak if not sealed properly

Lets face it… whether you use a cold water steriliser, an electric or microwave steriliser or use the old-fashioned method of boiling the bottles and teats for however long you have to, preparing bottles takes time. Guidelines now say that it is best to prepare each feed as your baby needs it. So add on top of the sterilising the time it takes for boiled water to cool to the perfect temperature to add the powdered formula milk, then the time it takes ...
...baby and you'll probably end up with a baby screaming with hunger! Plus sterilising one bottle every time your little one needs a feed can mean you could be sterilising eight or more times a day. Or lets think about how hard it is to keep a pre-prepared bottle of milk refrigerated when you need to go out shopping for the afternoon. Or about how much trouble it can be taking a bottle and milk powder and then making it up around your friends or relatives ...

How did folk ever manage without these?

Advantages: No washing. no sterilising. need i say more?
Disadvantages: Seriously, none!

I read about steribottles in Mother and Baby magazine and i thought no, too good to be true. These are amazing. They are pre wrapped, pre sterilised bottles with lids and teats. You unwrap, pour in the milk and feed your baby. After, you throw it in the bin. All done! The bottles hold 9oz each. I am a mother of a 5 month old baby, I manage a nightclub and my partner runs a bar. We both work long hours, and subsequently the washing bottles, sterilising ...
...all got a bit too much. We no longer use powder formula, we but all ready-to-pour. And though we do use normal avent bottles sometimes, i have to admit that a fair few of our son's feeds are from steribottles. The number of times i have gone to bed at 5am, been woken by the baby at 7, walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge and.... no bottles are made. oops. The other, major bonus is that because the plastic they are made of is so thin, they heat ...

Handy emergency bottle

Advantages: easiness of use
Disadvantages: not the environmental option

Being a forgetful mum, as we all are sometimes, the first time I was introduced to Steribottle was when I was out and about in the town, realised it was my son's feeding time, and that I'd left his milk at home! Steribottle is a quick and clean option to feed your baby, especially in an emergency situation. However, as I try to recycle as much as possible, I felt really guilty about using disposable bottles, as well as binning them after the use. ...
...is suitable for recycling (I doubt it), but this would obviously be a great bonus to the product. I know some people reuse the bottles (but usually only in great emergency), by not screwing them so tightly that they lock, and washing them afterwards. However, it is not always possible to do this, and obviously the bottle is no longer sterile after that. Now, what does Steribottle look like? Well, they come in two sizes, 0-3 months bottle (150ml) ...

Great for days out or holidays

Advantages: Easy to Use, Great for Holidays or Days out and 100% recyclable
Disadvantages: Cost

I first saw steri bottles in my supermarket and thought "do people really waste money on disposable bottles that they can only use once?" Now I'm one of those people! I first used these when we went away for a long weekend and I couldn't face washing bottles in the hotel sink and fiddling around with cold water sterilising. At a cost of £1.99 for four they aren't the most economical of purchases but you can buy them in bulk at a discount from "travellingwithchildre.co.uk". ...
...month plus teat. The latter of these is quite fast so if baby is used to a slower normal teat, stick to the younger range. The pack contains four 9 oz, individually wrapped bottles and the lid and teat is separate within the individual bottle pack. The bottle is pre-sterilised until you open it so don't unwrap them before you go out or you defeat the object! You can either use the pre-mixed formula or prepare feed in the normal way (powder and ...

A life saver bottle!!!

Advantages: Good when out and about (emergencies)
Disadvantages: Taste of the teat

Soon after having our daughter we went shopping and took 1 bottle. We were out longer than we thought and had to race home in time for the next one. It was that day out that prompted us to buy a box of these bottles and keep them in the car along with a carton of milk. They became a god send (they work prefectly when you have a screaming hungry baby) and we used them quite a few times. *** What are these**** These are disposable, affordable single-use ...
...comes complete with a special teat all pre-sterilised and ready to use. ***Where can they be bought*** These are available in Boots and most supermarkets. They are available in varying sizes and different flows e.g medium flow teat, fast flow teat. In Boots a pack of 4 is about £2.50 ***Making a feed*** This was very simple as we used a carton of milk. Aslong as you have clean hands you are ok! The bottle comes in 2 parts, the bottle and the ...

Steri-Bottle

Advantages: Hygienic
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly to fix ring onto bottle

...first time I used a Steri-Bottle I thought my son must have been parched as the milk disappeared in no time at all (I then realised I had failed to fix the ring to the bottle exactly and he ended up absolutely covered! This can be incredibly fiddly to fix as once the bottle is made up there's not an easy was to undo it as they are designed to be disposable! I was lucky and didn't waste the bottle, just opened another carton of formula and poured ...

Immedate bottles

Advantages: Cheap, ready straight away
Disadvantages: Can only use once

You are going out for the day and it is hot day and you are taking the little one with you or you are out and about and get caught in tarffic and you need to feed the little one. Sound familiar? Thats why I always keep one of these bottles in my daughter's changing bag. They are pre-sterilised bottles that come in a sealed plastic bag. When you need them you just open the packet pour the milk in the bottle and when the baby the is finished you just ...
...take on and off the bottle but I would not recommend that you put the lid on the bottle and put it your bag. As I found out they spill very easy and found my bag damp with milk. You can get them from most leading supermarkets and chemists. They come in a box of 4 and cost about £1, pretty cheap I say. They come in 0 -3 months and 3+months as well Though you can only use them once and the teat is not brillant on them. My daughter had a bit of a problem ...

Fantastic for festivals and camping

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, great for festivals!
Disadvantages: Really can only be used once

The steribottles are a wonderful alternative to traditional bottles. These are great for taking to festivals and on camping trips. They are easy to use and are good value for money (aprox £1.99 for 4 I think I've got these on offer before 2 boxes for £3.50, not bad for 8 bottles). Each bottle comes with a rim, teat and lid in its own plastic bag so they can be seperated if you will only need one. They come in either slow flow or medium flow. We ...
...these took away the need for any other bottles, cleaning or sterilising equipment. We used these with preprepared baby milk cartons so not even the need for boiling water. They are also useful if baby is staying away overnight while you have that precious night off as they take away the need for taking cleaning equipment or leaving instructions on how to clean/remake a bottle! However, they really can only be used once, . Don't even try to use them ...

Steri-Bottles

Advantages: Great in emergencies and you don't have to sterilise before using
Disadvantages: Expensive

I recently used these bottles in an emergency and whilst on holiday. They worked very well. However, points to note include the following: 1. You should make sure that you buy the packet that shows the correct-sized teat. I used the bottles meant for babies aged three months and older on my three-month-old and the flow of the teat was too quick for my baby and he ended up being more sick than usual and with hiccups and a sore tummy. 2. Make sure ...

Ideal for occasional uses.

Advantages: Convenient
Disadvantages: Make sure you fasten tightly!

I was going to my sisters wedding and as we usually use Dr Brown bottles and have only four I was looking for a way of making up the bottles for the whole day without having to go out and buy more bottles. I found these in a local store and thought they would be idea, and of course when they had been used I could simply throw them away and have less equipment to carry about (as if we don't have enough already for our babies!). I had been told that ...
...'click' them the correct amount of times, otherwise I could have ended up with baby milk all down my bridesmaids dress! I would use them again if I needed to make up feeds for a full day, but they would work out expensive if I had to rely on them all the time. ...
