Advantages Advantages good music, and info

    Disadvantages Disadvantages see above

Now in my late teens, it seems that I have decided what kind of music I like, and it doesn’t really fit into the normal daytime radio station playlists. Thank god for Steve Lamacq. I have just finished listening to his ‘sess’ between 8 and 10pm, and it was another cracker of a show. I am sure most of you reading this have heard of Steve, as he is one of the best known alternative music DJ’s around. Basically, in the daytime Radio 1 has a lot of chart stuff playing. Dave Pearce plays a good mixture of dance music, but it is when Lamacq starts his show that the real ... more

Advantages Advantages some really cool mucic

Disadvantages Disadvantages some not so good stuff too

Lamaque live and the evening session – I think these are one of the very few reasons there are for listening to radio one. The music he plays is largely very mixed, although u never get any very heavy rock stuff or grunge (except as classic alternatives) there is a lot of decent stuff. There is however also a lot of not so good stuff but I think that can be forgiven as there are people with differing tastes I guess. The recordings of live shows are always cool and the sessions are also very much welcome. ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cutting Edge Tunes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only on 4 nights a week.

Steve Lamacq is king of the airwaves as far as I'm concerned. He is on BBC Radio 1 on Monday (Lamacq Live) and then Tuesday - Thursday with The Evening Session. Please note if you live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland then on Thursday you do not get Steve but a local alternative show instead (Session in the Nation) Start time of all shows is 8pm. On Mondays Steve plays a great mix of tunes, with his unique alternative slant. as the title suggests there is a live element involved. This typically consists of pre-recorded live gigs from recent months, and sometimes the show is live from a ... more

Advantages Advantages live gigs and latest songs being played months before their offical release

Disadvantages Disadvantages Won't appeal to the cheesy westlife fans

If you are like me and you can't stand turning on the radio and hearing the same rubbish, that took 5 minutes to make and is sung by a bunch of bubble head men (Westlife to name but a few). Then you'll love the evening session on weekday nights 7pm - 10pm. Packed full of quality songs of various natures including jungle, house, soul and of course Indie and Brit Pop music. The songs are played by bands or individuals, that wern't put together by a corperate, money grabing, industry binding record company. With songs from the likes of Coldplay, Oasis, Blur etc, often been played from live ... more

    Advantages Advantages great music

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I would just like to say that I think Steve Lamaq is one of the best radio shows going for music. It is one of the only shows on radio 1 that I enjoy listening to apart from the Chris Moyles show which I listen only for the speaking and jokes not really the music but with steve I listen for the actual music. The music on his show is all good on an average night there are only about 5 songs that I do not enjoy. He always plays great music Greenday, Feeder, Ash to metion a few and talking about feeder there was a live broadcast on the show on the 15th of March which was great. ... more
