“a good uni”

published 21/02/2001

Small, some good courses, cheap living costs

Town people / shopping/

The Uni 60's buildings, usually quite cold but they've made an effort to do some of the main buildings up in recent years. If you don't like breeze block buildings & accomadation (see later) , ducks, wildlife, don't go to Stirling Uni. There are 2 main teaching areas, 5 minutes walk from each...

Stirling Uni is situated inbetween Edinburgh and Glasgow. It also gives easy reach to the Trossacs and Perth. The uni is situated in Bridge of Allan which is 10 mins outside of Stirling, Bridge of Allan has numerous pubs, takeaways and shops to save students going into Stirling. The campus is one...

Dull union bar/club. Poor student accommodation.

I decided to go to Stirling University because of their American style semester system. There is continuous assessment - not one huge final exam so the pressure is diluted. There is also great flexibility as you have to take three subjects in your first year and can go on to do any of these or a...

slightly annoying weather

Stirling Uni is actually nearer Bridge of Allen but anyway.. I'm in my second year of first year here now, I started in September 2003 and decided at Christmas to take a semester off so have restarted this September 2004. The plus points for me were the course I wanted at grades I thought I could...

I currently attend Stirling University and I am doing a degree on Environmental Geography, and in my opinion Stirling University has it all. Not only is there a wide and varied choice of degrees to choose from, there is also flexibility when choosing your modules, especially in the first two...

“A nice Quiet place”

Quiet

Some people prefer big cities

I was at Stirling between 1989 and 1993. I started off doing a course in Film and Media Studies but then changed to Economics. I found that the Media course was excessively theoretical, and was unable to get the marks I needed to continue. At the time this was supposed to be one of the best...

“Chill out and Learn!”

published 05/08/2000

When deciding which university I would attend I stumbled upon Stirling university and decided that it was the place for me. The main reasons for choosing Stirling were the beautiful campus and the great semester set up used there. I found that the staff were enthusiastic about what they were...

Stirling itself is set in Central Scotland, handy for travel to glasgow if need be or to edinburgh. The uni itself is in an ideal location for the town centre, buses appear frequently at the campus and its only a 15 minute bus ride away to the town. Although I've never stayed on campus my friends...

Beautiful setting, Great teaching

Stirling town is a hole in the ground

Its usually a sad reflection on a university when the best thing many people have to say about it is the beauty of its campus. However, in Stirling's case we can make an exception, as not only is it set in acres of fantastic woodland with a lake in the middle and a spectacular mountainous...
