Advantages Advantages Stylish, solidly made doors.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dissappointingly flawed - buy at your peril.

Wish I'd read these reviews before I bought!! Purchased a 61GDOT (stainless steel, all gas ovens, electric 3KW grill). Initial impressions were that it is a VERY stylish piece in stainless and the doors, in particular, feel solid and have a satisfying clunk when closed. The door bar handles are also solid and feel durable. On delivery ours was missing its cast iron pan supports which was frustrating, as these appeared to have been omitted during the manufacturers packing process! These were quickly replaced by the supplier, and again, are well designed and of a nice quality. Both ovens are ... more

    Advantages Advantages Stylish

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hot knobs and 'clicking' oven

We purchased this oven in March 2007, and thought it looked really stylish. We decided to buy from a well established family run local oven specialist and were confident of really good purchasing advice - wrong! The first thing I noticed about the oven was that the knobs became boiling hot when the oven was in use. Unfortunately I only found out after touching them! Over time the stainless steel foil has literally melted off them and they now look a real mess. Having a toddler at the time, we had to install a stair gate across the kitchen door to prevent any accidents. Within 2 years the main ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice Looking, two ovens

Disadvantages Disadvantages Knobs, temperature of oven, minute minder, top oven not auto light

I would not recommend this cooker, my story is below but main faults I have found in 3 weeks of ownership:- -No automatic ignition to top oven -Have to kneel on the floor to ensure you get the right temperature for both ovens as when standing up looking at dials they only go round to number 6 not number 9 -Minute mider does not tell you how long has gone only when total time elapsed. - temperature in oven could be 20 degrees higher or lower than what you have set using the dial. I purchased the stoves 61GDO over the internet after viewing the actual model in Comet. I wanted a good looking ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks good, knobs easier to read than some rivals. Double oven.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor temperature control in both oven and hob

I am very disappointed with this cooker. When I had to replace my Cannon, which I loved, because it was so old that I couldn't get spare parts (and it was costing me £100 a time to get a mechanic) I chose this model because it looked more solid than the corresponding Cannon - especially the cover, and the numbers on the knobs seemed easier to read. It certainly looks good but the bottom oven is significantly smaller than the Cannon and there is less flexibility within it. The baking sheet from the Cannon is about 2" too deep for the oven which indicates the loss of space. My main complaint ... more

Advantages Advantages Dual oven, easy to clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gas cut off re-instates

I have owned my cooker for 2 years. It has a number of features that I really like and a few things that I would change. The thing I found most impressive was that despite being a gas cooker it has both semi automatic and automatic cooking mode. The semi auto allows you to set an end time for the main oven. This is a feature that my old cooker had but it also has the additional bonus of being able to set both the start and finish time whch I did not realise could be done with gas. The setup instructions are a little complex though. I rarely use the top oven as it takes quite a while to get to ... more

Advantages Advantages Main oven bakes well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Knobs need replacing regularly

The best part is the lower oven, but several things are unsatisfactory. The following are design faults, in my opinion: 1. The knobs regularly split and have to be replaced at great expense. 2. Not enough air gets in for the large ring to burn correctly when using a large pan. Several other firms raise the grids on which the pans sit in order to allow full aeration and I now understand why. 3. I find the grill useless and never use it. 4. The top oven burns. I used to bake bread in the top oven of the previous STOVES model, but it is not possible on this one. 5. Difficult to know when the top ... more

awfull cooker. the thermostat does not work after 6 months. every thing was burning on gas mark 2. the front burner has stopped working after a year. the knobs are plastic and melt so that you cannot use them. so you need to keep ordering new knobs.now the oven does not work. no gas comes through and no heat.. the worst cooker ever. waste of money.

    Advantages Advantages Hob cleans well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor heat control in main oven. Very poor knobs

I was given this oven by stoves as they had to recall the one I had brought as it was burning my floor and a fire risk. I'm not sure how long I have had this oven, but it is about 3 years. As others have commented the heat control is poor, I wanted a gas oven as I'd previously had such great heat control with gas ovens over electric. This model is a fail for that. Very quickly all the knobs deteriorated, they are distorted, the finish pealing back and bubbling, as they are not able to stand the heat from the grill. They are simply not made from a strong enough material. Now one has fallen off ... more

    Advantages Advantages Compact.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Glass quickly discolours and knobs need replacing regularly.

The cooker itself is very satisfactory. However, during the last 4 years of using the cooker, we have needed 4 lots of new knobs. They break in the middle. We were told by an engineer it was a design fault with this type of cooker. Heat from the oven weakens the knobs. After the the first 2 sets, i complained about the regularity of replacement and was told that they had made them stronger. I have to say, we saw no improvement. They still needed replacing just as quickly.Thankfully we took out extended warrenty on the cooker or this would have been very exspensive. We were told that they would ... more
