more...masterpiece, Hard Boiled, Stranglehold redefines the action gaming experience with its acrobatic gunplay, thrilling cinematography, frenetic combat and incredible Massive Destructibility (Massive D). Chow Yun-Fat reprises his signature role as Inspector Tequila, pitting gamers as a take no-prisoners cop waging a personal war with Hong Kong crime lords. Tequila's loyalties to the force are tested when his ex-wife is kidnapped by the Russian mob in Chicago. Tequila struggles to balance his duty to uphold the law with doing what it takes to save his family. Features: Stranglehold allows gamers to play a John Woodirected action blockbuster movie. dual-wielding,stunt-laden gunplay combined with massive destructible environments ensures that Stranglehold will be a true tour-de-force. The environmental interactivity and two-fisted gunplay all come online, bringing the experience to a whole new level. Gamers will experience smooth flowing gameplay, such as running up railings, swinging on chandeliers and leaping onto moving objects, all without interrupting intense gun battles. Featuring the cinematic flare of acclaimed action director John Woo, Stranglehold will also benefit from Woo¿s direction on storyline, camera placement and cutscenes. Starring international action-star Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector Tequila, the game¿s cast is also comprised of other A-list Hollywood talent. The innovative physics engine will provide gamers with an unprecedented level of interactivity. With two huge areas to explore (Chicago and Hong Kong), the interactions will be infinite with each level offering massive amounts of destructibility. Stranglehold's inventive combat camera and Tequila Time slow-motion system allow players to simultaneously aim and shoot at the current target while driving, providing for robust gunplay combat between vehicles. Using a highly modified version of the Unreal 3.0 engine integrated with the Havok physics system, Stranglehold will breathe new life into game environments and characters with stunning graphics, and feature an ever-changing battleground depending on how players approach different scenarios.

Shoot, slide, dive, shoot, shoot
Review of Stranglehold (Xbox 360) by Danneey

Advantages: John Woo, bullet time, non-stop action
Disadvantages: A bit repetitive, prettier games are available

I like to download demos before I buy a game, and this was one of those that I decided to buy on the strength of the demo. Having seen a few John Woo films in the past, I knew what to expect, intense shootouts, doves, and some beautifully filmed artistry. First impressions are that this is just another run-around third-person shooter, much in the same way as one of the games that revolutionised the genre, Max Payne. This was the first game to really ... Read review

Shoot, shoot some more and more again, yawn!
Review of Stranglehold (Xbox 360) by elmopants

Advantages: Easy, vaguely entertaining.
Disadvantages: Average story, graphics, control, just average really.

Ok, John Woo, next generation game, action, shooting, guns, slow motion control at your fingertips, sounds great yes, well it isn't. Don't get me wrong its not awful and possibly worth a play at budget price or rental but don't waste £40 on it. The story is ok with your character voiced and modeled on action movie start Chow Yun Fat an interesting role all be it the usual role. The games looks ok but nothing stunning and the controls are ok but sometimes ... Read review

Repetyative abd disappointing online play
Review of Stranglehold (Xbox 360) by bennyT595

Advantages: Very fun at first
Disadvantages: Rather frustrating online play

Erm well. I played the demo and i really enjoyed and found myself playing over and over again, so i decided to get it. A mistake i suppose. It was very repeative, the same thing again and again. Fun at thew start, but just plain boring afterwards, defenity diappointing. I personally found the online play very frustrating, it was extremely hard to aim and get a shoot on target and once i did i could swear i hit them hundreds of time yet i end up dying. ... Stranglehold = Fun
Review of Stranglehold (Xbox 360) by JamieNI2007

Advantages: Great fun, Tequila Time (slow motion) is great, and decent story
Disadvantages: too short and a bit repetitve

I had high hopes for this game and it didn't disappoint, it is without a doubt the most fun i have had in a game this year with some of he most stylish action sequences ever seen in a video games. Graphically it doesn't match up to the likes of bioshock and gears of war but still looks good. Single player is a bit short and there are some camera issues with the camera being slower to react than you so it is sometimes playing catch up with the character ... Read review

Great Way To Finish Were Hard Boiled Left Off
Review of Stranglehold (Xbox 360) by wass007

Advantages: Great visuals, Great Gameplay, Destructable Enviroments Look Brilliant
Disadvantages: Short Game

Stranglehold is a very entertaining game and a great sequal to "Hard Boiled" the 1992 japanese hit where two cops are teaming up to takedown a huge criminal organisation. Stranglehold finishes where Hard Boiled left off as you are in search of your wife and daughter. The game is similar to that of max payne and your run around shooting enemies till no1 is left standing. Some special moves are availible such as slowing down time, increasin power ... Read review
