Advantages Advantages Crisp, refreshing taste, affordable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you dislike cider this isn't the drink for you!

Why Strongbow? Although Strongbow is a strong brand in its own right, it is owned by Dutch brewing giant Heineken. However, the cider is produced by Bulmers in the UK, which incidentally is also owned by Heineken. Heineken do have a respectable presence in the UK drinks market, though since the purchase of Scottish and Newcastle (who are part of Bulmers), they have retained the Strongbow brand. Strongbow brought me my first taste of cider and I haven't looked back since. Strongbow produce a wide range of varieties and their most popular apple cider contains 50 varieties of apple to produce a ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastes great, cheap, refreshing

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Horrible headaches

I find it difficult to write a review about Strongbow given that it has given me so many amazing nights yet so many horrific mornings! It is my one weakness, and the one reason that (despite my intense exercise regime), I completely fail to lose any weight whatsoever! I recently bought a pack of 15 440ml cans of Strongbow from Tesco, and it was on offer (2 packs for £15). This works out at just 50p per can, and so it is incredibly good value. Tesco also sell 2 litre bottles of Strongbow for £2.76 but I much prefer the cans as I feel that it keeps the cider much more fresh and appetising - it ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap and not awful

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not tasting of apples enough and is a bit too sour

Living in the West Country I think I overdosed big time when I first arrived here on real and raw cider. I loved it at first however the stuff now knocks me about too much and so often if I drink cider which is rare I just get branded stuff most of us have heard of. At the moment I am sat with a glass of Strongbow in front of me and I buy this rather often as a 2 Litre bottle costs me only about £3.79 so it nice as a chilled drink for me come weekends when I can't afford much else. The Packaging: This comes in various sized cans and bottles and of course from tap in pubs and the likes. My 2L ... more

4 Stars Strongbow Cider - Cheap and Cheerful Review with images 10/03/2013
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Cheap; Fruity; Readily Available; Many varieties; Not too alcoholic

Disadvantages Disadvantages Social Stigma; High in calories; Dangers of alcohol

Strongbow cider is an easily available, middle of the range cider drink. It is available in bottles (plastic and glass), cans, and pints from the bar. I enjoy this cider as it is cheap, for example supermarket deals can provide 24 cans for £17 (Tesco - 10/02/2013). I enjoy the crisp and refreshing taste, as well as the fact that 4.5% A.P.V means it si easy to pace yourself for a good night. However, I agree that there is some stigma attached to drinking cider e.g. youths at the park, due to its price and availability, but I see it as a good alternative to spirits or beer. There are also also ... more
