    Advantages Advantages Sensational acceleration

Disadvantages Disadvantages 99.9% of drivers won't do this car justice

Got involved with this car as a bit of a joint venture with my brother-in-law. We bought it new at the start of 2004. The finance behind the whole thing are a bit strange, but that's not too important right now, essentially I own everything from the rear seats backwards! Confession at the outset - I'm quite "into" cars, but I'm not a car freak. I can tell you: * What I like to look at. * What I like to drive. * How reliable I want it to be. * How comfy it is. etc But I could not tell you a double overhead cam from a pair of rear bushes! If my car breaks down I may as well look in the glove ... more

Advantages Advantages Unbelievable performance with room for the family

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy, uncomfortable, license loser

I've had two Subaru Imprezza Turbos now, a 2000 model (x-plate) and the newer-styled WRX from 2001 on a y-plate. Despite the newer model feeling slightly more tame than the old one and being a little easier to drive on a daily basis, one thing remained constant between both of them: you become a different person behind the wheel of this car. Normal human beings, people who'll buy you a pint when they see you in the pub, stop to say hello to you in the street, be there to help out when you're in trouble, become hooligans behind the wheel of either of these models. The Imprezza, in either guise ... more

Advantages Advantages stupidly quick, boosting (that sound), handling amazing, looks great,

Disadvantages Disadvantages on this model lack of ABS and Air con this is not standard though!

This was a 1996 Japanese import that spent its life as a Japanese street racing car. It was the race altered edition of the WRX STI. This meant it had no sunroof, no electrics in the front ie. windows and wing mirrors, no ABS and no air con. It did have a double din stereo and it did have a 5.5" straight through stainless steel exhaust. It was stupidly modified in the engine department and it did have creedy boost gauges. This car was brought from a garage in Stoke. It was a Japanese import. It is a very rare car I have only ever seen 1 other like it. However, due to more imports coming into ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages ONLY LOOKS GOOD IN BLUE

unless your names Julian and you work in a hair dressers the only model of Impreza you'll ever contemplate is the mk1 WRX STI Turbo Acceptable modifications to this model include *Evo type spoiler (If not already fitted) does restrict vision of cars in rear veiw mirror but its not as if they'll catch you anyway...... you've got an Impressa! * Full exhaust system (magnex a clear favorite for impressa) *Dump valve To complement the wirring of the turbo (check out the range from bailey as thease squeeze out a few extra BHPs!) *Short Shift Gear changer for that easy down shift on that 120 mph ... more

SUBARU IMPREZA, say that to most teenage boys and they will drool longingly for they wish they could have one even near to them. I am lucky my father bought his about 2 years ago and we both have not tired of it yet. All i have to say to my friends is Impreza and they go and hide, crying for the day they can get one. This however can be a down side as Impreza often goes before who is driving it, yes you can go quick, ludicrously quick if you want too but it really is more of a car than that. The boot is enormous we used to have a Range rover and the scoobies boot is bigger than that!Helpful as ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

i am writing a review on the subaru impreza because i had to go to a business trip and they paid me to rent out a car so i chose the subaru impreza. subaru is a very fast car and it drives like a beauty however there are downsides on the subaru, such as there is plastic everywhere. however the advantages make up for the disadvantages. the subaru is very quick in a straight line but the best thing about the subaru is it can go quick around corners. the subaru is very practical if you have a family. this is not based on my knowledge however the subaru impreza is very reliable and could be used ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad fuel economy

I bought my Impreza Turbo almost 2 years ago, and I can say I've enjoyed every minute of driving it. I decided to test drive the Impreza after it won the Top Gear JD Power survey 2 years on the trot. I've always driven fast cars, but wanted reliability, high residuals, and good dealer customer service. And thats what I got! I was going to order a brand new Impreza Turbo, but after I had my test drive I bought the second hand one I had just driven. I just couldn't wait 4 months for a new one to be delivered - I wanted it then! I opted for the 5 door, which is more subtle than the 4 door, but ... more

Advantages Advantages Performance, handling, image and torque.

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of interior comforts, styling (love or hate)

If speed is your thing then their are few choices that make sense on Britains roads. Sure there are alot of machines out there that absolutley fly when its sunny and dry but you could probably count on one hand the cars that can cope with average climate of pouring rain with brief periods of freezing ice and snow. With permanent AWD and handling that could out turn a bobsled, the impreza is up at the top of that list. All the electronics that propel the car round corners (and hurt your face doing so) at speed all work to keep you out of those hedges and ditches. On the motorway in 5th doing 70 ... more

Advantages Advantages Engine, 4WD, reliability, Fun, forgiving to drive, phenomenal engine-braking, rare now!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Thirsty, only runs on super-unleaded, small boot and cabin, frequent service intervals

Ive owned my 1995 Subaru Impreza WRX sportwagon for the last 8 years, during which time it has consistently delivered reliable, dependable and ultra-fun driving! Mine is a jap import and up to date I have driven it for almost 100 000 miles as an everyday communter for myself and my family (I have 3 children....the front bucket seat was absolutely fine with the rear facing baby seat). I initially bought it as a temporary bit of fun as I fully expected it to live up to its unreliable repair-heavy reputation, so thought Id be selling it after a few crazy months.............however on that score I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Spacious and fast

    Disadvantages Disadvantages EVERYONE has one.

I am a true petrol head and had to have a scooby. I bought a used 93 WRX Turbo. The problem is due to the grey import market they are EVERYWHERE. If you want a car that is a bit different DONT get an Impreza. If you have to have one:............... The driving position is very comfortable making it very easy to control when putting the car through its paces. With 4 wheel drive you stick to the road, however if you are not used to 4wd it can be an extremely alarming experience. (personally I prefer front or rear wheel drive as they are less twitchy) The excelleration is rapid giving a great ... more
