    Advantages Advantages Great course. Plenty of extras from the BBC

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of opportunity to speak when learning alone. Need for sustained motivation

    This review is based on my own experience of learning Spanish with Sueños 1. Although I was an absolute beginner when I started this course, I am a language teacher (I teach French)which you need to bear in mind when reading this review. I have wanted to learn Spanish for a very long time, but due to studying other courses, I didn't have time. Why did I choose to study this way rather than attend a class?     Advantages Advantages It tries hard.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too hard, in fact.

    (Prices for this on Amazon are varied and complicated. The textbook, with cassettes or CD pack, ranges from c.£20 to c.£40). Why learn Spanish? Is it worth the bother ? This question may be more relevant than usual if you plan to go to the tourist areas of Spain, where so many people speak English. I admit I hate those places, with their ‘English’ pubs, bacon and egg cafés, all-night discos. But there’s another Spain, which some of you will have found too, a land of immensely dignified, polite, rather formal people, honest, tough and independent.
