Supa?... Definately Not. REWRITTEN 30/08/08

AdvantagesVery cheap

DisadvantagesPoor support, packages not "unlimited", lots of downtime, slow connection, high latency

"...please don't sign up with Supanet or let anyone you know get attracted by their very competitive prices. == A bit of history == If you've ever had a Time (or Tiny) computer, the name Supanet will probably ring a bell. Time - who later bought Tiny after they went into administration - preloaded all their new PCs with Supanet dial-up internet access which really marked the beginning of Supanet as a major ISP. Time and Tiny have since barely survived, ..." Read review

Not so 'Supa' Diamond review

AdvantagesGood competitive prives for 1MB Connection

DisadvantagesPoor Customer Service, connection often freezes

"...them or to them. Supanet is no exception. Either that or my expectations are too high! I originally had a 512k connection with BT Broadband. However, the cost for this was £27.99 per month. After browsing the internet, I came across a Supanet advert which advertised 1mb Broadband connection for just £22.99 per month. The sound of this apprealed immensely to me - a faster connection for less - it was a bargain! I cliked on the ad which redirected ..." Read review

So far so Supa

AdvantagesVery quick, good price

DisadvantagesSometimes disconnects for no reason

"...I had never heard of Supanet & the thought of using something other than my faithful Freeserve filled me with dread. Try as we might we couldn't get rid of Supanet, so it seemed I was stuck with it. I have to say I was very pleasantly suprised. The dial up was very quick, I could connect 9/10 & the monthly fee was only £13.49 for anytime use, unmetered. As an internet junkie my pc gets switched on first thing in the morning & switched off at bedtime. ..." Read review

On the way UP...

AdvantagesGood Value

DisadvantagesSometimes a bit slow in the evenings

"I have been using Supanet for about 3 or 4 years now and we have had some problems over that time but that is expected with any Internet Service Provider (ISP). I think it has got alot better over time. When we first signed up we had no problem connecting to their service and all was well but we did find it very slow although it did speed up after the first week or so and i just thought we must have joined during some major issues and all was sorted ..." Unfair Tactics When Switching

Advantagesno longer any advantages

DisadvantagesCustomer Service, Connectivity, Speed

"...providers. I've been with Supanet for almost 6 years and have had various problems, but this takes the cake. After finding a better offer I asked for my MAC code and was informed I'd have to close the account. I was assured I'd have 30 days before the account was closed and that I'd have my code in 5 days. 3 days later my account was closed! Customer Service was terrible and it took considerable 'persuasion' for the £29.99 reconnection charge for ..." Read review

Quick review of Supanet ADSL

"I have also just cancelled my subscription due to horrific service, poor download rates along with high latency - 150ms plus on a day to day basis. The cancellation charge is a rip off - £30 (if cancelled with 24 months of joining) along with the £30 fee if you do not return the cheap USB modem. Aviod like the plague!!

Quick review of Supanet ADSL

"AVOID SUPANET! The only reason I became one of their customers is because I purchased a PC from "TINY" and it was set to work only with Supanet. I then upgraded to broadband 2 yrs ago, which took 4 weeks and the service was indifferent, but I have just changed over to AOL and this is where the real problems started. Withholding my MAC code, charging after the termination of service, penalty fees for not sending my equipment back in time even though I had no address to send it to until I recieved the penalty notice (they charge £2 for the set up disc!). And this is on top of the snotty saleman telling me how bad AOL were going to be.

Quick review of Supanet ADSL

"Supanet service was very variable with a lot of line drops. Additionally watch out - their contract penalises you within 2 years, not one year. I would not recommend this ISP.

Quick review of Supanet ADSL

"Terrible. Phone numbers that are no longer available. A sales number that answers in seconds, a cancellation number that I've called several times and held for an hour on a speakerphone each time.... never did get through. Alternative way to cancel is to write to billing depts.... try to find the address!! Rude on the phone, a couple of 'advisors' were extremely difficult to understand. Extremely dubious setup

Quick review of Supanet ADSL

"Just to reinforce the other recent reviews about Supanet. Download speeds have been getting slower and slower. I get 130kbit download speeds in the evening, so watching Youtube etc is very poor, other people on the same exchange at the same time get 800 kbit, so the problem is not local contention, bandwidth restrictions introduced by supanet itself.

SUPANET ADSL 1MB and 512K

AdvantagesCheap

DisadvantagesAppalling Downstream speeds

"I recently switched to Supanet broadband from AOL 512KB broadband as I disliked AOL's customer service. When I switched, I was not sent any letters about start dates or how exactly it would work. It offered a free modem with a 12 month contract. I switched to them using a MAC code, which meant that service was supposed to be switched from AOL to Supanet seamlessly without any loss of connection. One day I could not connect using AOL anymore but nobodyt ..." Read review

Supanet? Supa Rubbish!

AdvantagesCan't think of any!

DisadvantagesAppalling customer service.

"Had been a dial-up customer for 8 years but upgrading to broadband put an end to my custom. They took 3 weeks to deliver a modem then it wouldn't install. Spent 50 minutes on the phone to tech help in India then had to wait another 4 weeks for a replacement modem! The broadband stopped working 4 months later but their customer support didn't really care! They said they'd phone back the next day to confirm what the problem was but didn't phone back ..." SUPA BAD SERVICE

AdvantagesCheap

DisadvantagesTerrible service, not human, not helpful

"...wanted to move away from Supanet because some of the sites I download from were restricted to speeds lower than dial up (!), I requested my MAC code. This was after 3 very poor calls to their technical support which is all based in India. 3 days later my account was closed. I had to make two calls to switch it back on. The service was terrible with Supanet constantly telling me everything was my own fault. I now have to return the modem at my own ..." Read review
