Advantages Advantages I get to spend time with a short dark stranger

    Disadvantages Disadvantages He ignores me

A little while ago my sons mate Ian lent us his GameCube and I fell in love.... ........with a short dumpy Italian with a strange moustache! But he belongs to another, some daft girlie looking Princess called Peach, that always seems to get in trouble by being constantly kidnapped! I don't know exactly what is going on between these two but I am jealous :oP I spent ages with Mario, much more than she does! Finding coins, squirting baddies with water, cleaning up the places we go to and even rescuing her but do I get a thank you off this strange little bloke? You bet I don't! Not so much as a ... more

Advantages Advantages Bright, vibrant game play with lots of puzzles

Disadvantages Disadvantages To many obstacle courss - not enough bosses

When I chose my Nintendo Game Cube, one of the key drivers for me was the fact that certain games and characters are exclusive to the Nintendo franchise. Two of my favourite games ever were Donkey Kong Country on the SNES and Super Mario on the N64. It therefore seemed logical to get me a Game Cube, as this was the only way I would get to play any new DK or Mario games when released. Super Mario Sunshine was released in the autumn of 2002, and was heralded as the greatest Mario game yet. Following the phenomenally successful Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine was the first platform ... more

Advantages Advantages Rewarding | Nice graphics | Fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very tough

It has been six years since a fully new Mario game. Since the revolutionary Mario 64 the plumber has appeared in Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party and Paper Mario to name a few titles but he hasn’t had a proper outing since the N64 was launched. So it is fair to assume that Super Mario Sunshine is under a lot of pressure to deliver a good game. It is, after all, a Mario game and it’s the game that Nintendo hope will boost sales of the GameCube. A lot has happened since Mario 64 as 3D platformers are now all over the place but Mario 64 remains the benchmark and this leaves Sunshine with a lot ... more

Advantages Advantages Bright and colourful; great fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Irritating camera; sometimes too difficult

When Super Mario was released on the N64 six long years ago it was instantly proclaimed a classic by everyone. The transition from 2D to 3D platformer had been flawlessly implemented: now you could guide the illustrious Italian plumber through dozens of stunning 3-dimensional worlds, doing wall-jump after wall-jump and completing countless puzzles. As time passed numerous developers tried to replicate the winning formula and, while most failed miserably, some succeeded, such as Rare with Banjo-Kazooie and its follow-up. But after the demise of the N64 many began to wonder if we would ever see ... more

    Advantages Advantages Beautiful graphics, Mario

Disadvantages Disadvantages Annoying camera, not quite as polished as it could be

When I first saw mario with a waterpak on his back I was thinking the same thing every one else was probably thinking "Luigis Mansion 2". But truth be told the game plays nothing like LM, it is infact much MUCH better. I, like many others, was turned off by the screenshots which displayed questionable character models with low poly counts. But when this game is in motion, there is no denying that it looks astounding! The effects are dazzling and the scope and size of the draw distance, the bright colors, and above average textures combine quite well to make this game a feast for the eyes. In ... more

Advantages Advantages Its a Nintendo Classic

Disadvantages Disadvantages The only bad point is that the camera can get a little fiddly and awkward at times

The Story Mario decides to take a break from all his heroic efforts and take a much needed vacation with his most darling friend, Princess Peach. The two jet off to a remote, sun-soaked island for their trip. Upon arrival, Mario finds that, per usual, he's not going to get any vacation time. Someone has polluted and defaced the island, leaving behind a gooey sludge and M-shaped markings on the walls everywhere. To make matters worse, the culprit has disguised himself as Mario, so the locals are blaming him for it. Armed only with a water cannon and his good wits, it's up to Mario to clean the ... more

I had been wanting to buy this game for quite sometime and finally the other day I got round to it I kissed my three new shiny ten pound notes good bye in exchange for a little blue case and the disk which it contained and I would have to say it was worth it! This game has Nintendo written all over it in big fat neon letters. It represents all things Nintendo and Mario. The game has got all the best features of all the Mario games and turned them into one big giant game! The story line of the game is a shire Nintendo classic, Mario goes on holiday but when he arrives there’s a graffiti artist ... more

Advantages Advantages It's a him! Mario! Brilliant Graphics, Classic gameplay

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Camera Angles

I'd been waiting for this for years. Ever since I packed up my rented N64 and kissed my £3.65 for 2 nights copy of Mario 64 goodbye. After missing out on the N64, this will have been my only taste of the sweet Italian Plumber since I completed Super Mario World for the 3rd time. I ran to my Mothers car, got in and unwrapped the polyethene that surrounded the games box as we drove home. My expectations were high. Very high. I'd read many import reviews and they all sung its praises. I turned on my Cube knowing that it could never reach what I thought it would. As the introduction started to ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages It could never last forever!

The weather outside is Dark, cold and usually very wet at this time of year. All the better for having an excuse to sit indoors and play games. But to really get away from all the winter gloom, there is only one game that will do, a game that will bring sunshine into your life. That game is Mario Sunshine. Story ----- The old master of platforms is finally back, in his first proper Gamecube outing. That’s right, Mario the plumber returns in style, but with all his previous madcap antics taking their toll, he needs a holiday. This is where we first find our hero, flying in to the airport ... more

Advantages Advantages Finally a next-generation mario game

Disadvantages Disadvantages Inexperienced gamers will find parts very difficult at times

Most people who will want to play this, will have played the original N64 game. Groundbreaking in everyway possible, Mario 64 is a hard game to follow. So the question is does this title live up to the previous mario game. The story takes place in the holiday resort of Isle Delfino....shaped like a dolphin incase you havent guessed that one. Your on holiday with peach when suddenly upon landing your accussed of polluting the place with this strange coloured gunge. Despite the lack of a trail your ordered to remove the slime or face dire consequences. Of course Mario as the hero takes the job ... more
