Advantages: Nice location, pretty campus (in places) Disadvantages: Disorganised, inefficient Uni, hills, Stag Hill Court planning
...started at the University of Surrey in September 2005 on a Law course. Due to circumstances at the time, I was not able to visit the University on an Open Day.
My first thoughts as I was driven through the campus on my first day was that it looked clean and pleasant - there's lots of trees on the one side, a lake and some nice arty sculptures on the side - not to mention the presence of ducks and swans! Very pretty.

CAMPUS
This University has just one campus, in Guildford, situated next to Guildford Cathedral and approximately a 10 minute walk from the town centre, train and bus station. The campus itself is quite small in comparison to other Universities, which I believe is one of its many advantages, with so many things on hand: a bank, a small convenience shop, a ...

...its Graduate Employment - less Surrey students find themselves unemployed 6 months after graduation than any other UK university, including Oxford or Cambridge.
When I was a student, the nightlife in and around Guildford was superb - anyway if you felt bored with the local places, Waterloo Station and the Bright Lights of London was only a short ride away. The student's union was the venue for several famous 60s and 70s bands making their debut. ...

Advantages: Nice location, close to town, has almost everything, campus uni, good place in the rankings.Has improved rankings and quality/reputation in a lot of subjects,-esp. sciences. Disadvantages: Still hasn't got rid of the 'polytechnic' image, guilford locals being a bit 'snobby'
...used to be Battersean and Surrey Court have also been done up - I'd advise looking having a look first. I stayed in one of these halls in my final term and I was very lucky to have a very nice clean flat - despite it being one of the halls with the lowest rents, but I speak negatively of these halls as a couple of my friends had stayed in them and although quite cheap - it was cold, damp, unclean, rough people and there was just a plain scary feeling ...

...do like it here at Surrey Uni, it just seems that a lot of things are happening now that didn't when I first came here...I've been here for almost 5 years now after I had a year out in Finland to count for a 4 year course, then a knee injury so I had to come back and finish this final year thing again. I know I'm probably only seeing the worst of things but surely the first years have been getting worse each time??? They've even started flushing plastic ...

As i write this review i am currently nearing the last two weeks of my first year at this university, UniS. I am studying Retail Management. I looked at many university's around the UK, but for me this one seemed the nicest. not just catering ofr all of my course needs, but the friendly atmosphere, great suroundings etc. My course is ranked Number one for its degree in the UK, and to top it off we have just been built a new £18.5million management ...

...student at the University of Surrey and am having a fantastic time. The course is both interesting and challenging. I would reccommend it to any person who possesss a variety of skills and has clear ambitions about what they wish to do in terms of a career.
Me aside, the University is a great place. Surrey is one of the best campus University's in the South East. The campus has everything a student needs including sport facilities, shops, launderette, ...

Advantages: Close to London but still cheap Disadvantages: Everywhere you walk you are on a hill
Surrey University (or UNIS as it wants to be know these days) has basically something for everyone. Firstly, the beer is fairly cheap, the newly refurbished union is always welcoming and the increasingly lively town of Guildford is only a ten minute walk away. You are only five minutes walk away from the mainline train station which has fast services to London. But walk into the green parkland part of the campus and you find peace and quiet. There ...

I enjoyed my time at Surrey as I allowed myself to be completely involved. I joined one (of the many) sports clubs - and in the second year went on to win a BUSA medal (don't mean to show off, just am still so proud, 'cos I've never been "sporty"). There are alot of opportunities for sporty people and people who've never done a particular sport to try something new (like I did). Also, there are lots of societies, so there's bound to be something ...

A decent uni. Review ofSurrey University, Guildfordby

Advantages: Structure of courses, organised uni in general, good town facilities, reasonable accommodation prices for the area, good selection of societies Disadvantages: A long walk to lecture theatres unless you live in Battersea, Surrey or Cathedral courts, expensive on campus shop and restaurants, competitive atmosphere
...an objective point of view Surrey is a pretty decent university. Most of the students who end up here are pretty motivated and focused so if you're the lazy sort - it might do you some good. The facilities are good. The library isn't the best but with five floors, there are some decent books. The selection of journals and papers are very good but the ones that you really need for your final year are usually not subscribed to or take forever to transfer ...

Advantages: nice area, good industrial connections, friendly personnel Disadvantages: very commercialised, to experimental
The newest master strike of the University of Surrey's marketing team was dedicating the university's abrreviated name (UniS) to University of Success.
Whilst this sounds like a bad commercial advert - and appears about as annoying as reappering adverts on telly when walking across the university camps - the university seems to have forgotten about the real purpose of a university. Rather than seeing itself as an excellent centre for research and ...

UNIS Life Review ofSurrey University, Guildfordby
coolchick2001_2003
Advantages: Good night life, everything is on campus, live right near your building that you learn in Disadvantages: On big hill
My time at UNIS has been enjoyable. Everything you need is on campus, tescos is a short walk away and the town is too. Regualr bus service.
There are 2 halls of residence off campus, if you live in, where you can take your car, but you aren't allowed to bring onto campus when you do come in to the campus.
Halls on campus are around the egde and easily accessible to everything. Sme nice places and news ones being built to replace old ones.

If you like staying in every night listening to the wind blow then you will love it, if not; it is not easy to change and adapt to.
