Advantages: Swift - Says it all. Quick off the mark Disadvantages: Street Cred!
I bought a Suzuki Swift in Jan 04, and I can say I was impressed. Being quite ignorant about cars at that time, I was unsure about the pro's and con's on cars. See my other review for information......
When I drove the Swift out of the showroom I was impressed with the speed it could reach in such a short time. Not saying it is a porshe or anything, but it was impressive!
Top speed I reached out of it was 120mph at a push. Not bad for a 998litre. ... ...parts (Being Japanese)
- Basic Model (That is what you may be looking for)
- Loud Engine
- Electric window problem (in my personal opinion)
Some good points include:
- Cheap tyre replacement
- Quick acceleration
- Cheap Tax
My Swift did around 25,000 miles in a year, quite a high mileage. It did not need any major works to be carried out, accept an insurance rapair (replacement bonnett). Parts are quick to be shipped in.
You won't find many ...

...bought my Swift from a Suzuki dealer for £5999 with only 7 miles on the clock. It was my first car and for the first six months I loved it.
It looks quite attractive and comes in a range of colours inside and out. Spec wise I got electric windows, central locking, radio/tape, but no power steering. However, as the car is so light, power steering would really have been superfluous.
It's fun to drive, can get in anywhere, and does well over fifty ... ...my Swift's lack of finesse.
Buy it if you're on a budget and don't spend too long on the motorway. One word of warning, though - Suzuki recommend servicing every 6 months (which in my opinion is completely unnecessary), and your warranty isn't valid if you don't comply. ...

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable & Economical Disadvantages: Not for full loads
I purchased my Swift eighteen months ago and I am fast approaching eighteen thousand miles. The fuel economy is excellent, I have avaraged almost sixty miles per gallon. It is fairly comfortable and responsive for a 1.0. The car is very light (hence the economy and response). The upholstery is cheap and cheerful and the paintwork is easily marked. I am pretty pleased with my Swift as an economical means of getting from A to B. The price has come down by quite a bit since I bought too. Doesn't handle too well when there's much weight in the car (ie more than one adult passenger).
Also qualifies for £100 annual road fund licence. ...

...am learning in is a Suzuki Swift 1.0 Gl. Although for some, the engine size would seem insufficient, for a driver who has just passed their test, the car would represent an ideal starter motor. I have had my 1.0 Litre Silver Swift GLS SE for just over 4 months now and haven't found a single fault. Great drive, on short and long journeys, small and agile, easy to park and very, very cheap to run. £20.00 full tank can take me 300 miles.

The suzuki swift was my first car. I bought it because it was only 6 months old, and still a very reasonable price. I was advised against the purchase by my friends, who informed me that the suzuki swift was not 'cool' and that with such a small engine, it would take me hours to get anywhere! They were, however, proved wrong. The suzuki turned out to be a fantastic car for me. We bought a silver suzuki swift 2 years ago (to replace a previous swift which was unfortunatly written off :S). The swift has been nothing but dependable.
