    Advantages Advantages Pretty side

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Ugly football

Sweden sort of sum up the modern second tear international team, always at the major championships but never likely to win it, the status where England are headed now that the Premier League has distracted player from national glory and pride. But in the inaugural days of the World and European Championships, Sweden were willing participants and pioneers of the game. They finished 4th in the 1938 World Cup after beating Cuba 8-0 in the Q/Fs (before being stuffed in the semis by the mighty Hungarians) and in 1950 they went one place better in Brazil by finishing third. In 1958 they were hosts ... more

firstly,i would like to say a big thank you to sweden for getting us into euro 2000 in the first place, but you realy should not have bothered as we made such a dismal showing of ourselves it would probably have been better if we werent there! sweden performed well in qualifying and in the tournament itself and made a good showing of them selves. they have a good few players but most of them seem to have the same name-alexandersson. oh well, they have larsson back from injury now and look like they will probably qualify for the next world cup. good luck my sson! hahaha! ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good keeper

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No fire power

Before the first game of this event, Sweden were a fair bet to qualify from this group. Their qualifying record was one of the best and, from an English point of view, most fans were grateful to them for beating Poland and giving England a chance to get in through the back door. After games against an average Belgium and a bad Turkey, the question that arises must be exactly how did they qualify? There is without any doubt a lack of quality players in the side and it's equally obvious that Henrik Larsson is a long, long way from being match fit. Lundberg continues to prove what an over-rated ... more

Advantages Advantages Sweden could cause a few upsets

Disadvantages Disadvantages They could however dissapoint

Sweden are a team that can at one moment be majestical, can match any team on the planet, but at other times are just plain dissapointing. They certainly have the stars: Henrik Larsson of Celtic, Frederik Ljunberg of Arsenal, Stefan Schwarz of Sunderland etc. In the world cup of 1994, Sweden claimed third place with the likes of former Sweden greats Martin Dahlin and Tomas Brolin in great form. But they didn't even make it for World cup 98. However, their luck looks to be in again. They qualified for the championship top of the group even outgunning the mighty England. Their name has not been ... more
