Sweden sort of sum up the modern second tear international team, always at the major championships but never likely to win it, the status where England are headed now that the Premier League has distracted player from national glory and pride. firstly,i would like to say a big thank you to sweden for getting us into euro 2000 in the first place, but you realy should not have bothered as we made such a dismal showing of ourselves it would probably have been better if we werent there! sweden performed well in qualifying and in the tournament itself and made a good showing of them selves. they have a good few players but most of them seem to have the same name-alexandersson. oh well, they have larsson back from injury now and look like they will probably qualify for the next world cup. good luck my sson! hahaha! ... more

Before the first game of this event, Sweden were a fair bet to qualify from this group. Their qualifying record was one of the best and, from an English point of view, most fans were grateful to them for beating Poland and giving England a chance to get in through the back door. Sweden are a team that can at one moment be majestical, can match any team on the planet, but at other times are just plain dissapointing.
