    In these days as never before, health and environmental issues are high on many people's lists. Sacrifices of everyday treats that many take for granted, is virtually always the case. Whether for medical or moral reasons, the curtailment of one's favourite foods is very often the price to be paid. As a 'lactose-intollerant', it was a 'fast track' into the world of many food restrictions. Suddenly every can, box, tube or sachet was subject to rigorous inspection, just in case the dreaded lactose was lurking within.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Not all flavours are available at the same time.

    Now the weather is HOT HOT HOT, my mind has turned to ice-cream and dipping my feet into the children's paddling pool. I have limited choice of frozen desserts, however, as I do not eat cow's milk products. My mum used to buy the Swedish Glace ice-cream when I was still living at home, so it has been around a while. Back then it was only available in Vanilla flavour and tended to be quite sickly. It is only recently that I have re-discovered the product in loads of fantastic new flavours.... and, by golly, the taste seems to have improved tremendously.     Swedish Glace is a fantastic non-dairy dessert that looks like ice-cream, but actually tastes better than the ‘real’ thing. Yes, all you Haagen Dazs people out there, you may snigger at me now, but once you have tasted it yourself, your faces will be buried in shame! Some years back, a Swedish girl (a pure coincidence) called Eva introduced me to the world of delights without dairy products.     The sun blazed down from the clear blue sky. I took out a pound coin from my jacket pocket and handed it over for a quantity of sunflower seeds. I squinted up the baked hot road and prepared to make my final journey back into town and then home. I would have to cover three miles or so, on a bicycle with a slow puncture carrying a heavy rucksack. I thanked the lady in the pet shop and told her I was going to collect my ice cream, then I would be going like hell home.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Once people have tried it you will have to share, similar calorific content to traditional ice cream

    Just because you are lactose intolerant or vegan thanks to Swedish Glace you are no longer deprived delicious tasting ice cream. So far I have only tried the vanilla flavour. I was introduced to it at a childs birthday party where some of the guests were lactose intolerant and to avoid discrimination the host bought a couple of tubs of this ice cream so everyone could have the same. I was merrily eating away and quite shocked at the taste when I overheard someone saying how nice this dairy free ice cream was.     Swedish Glace. (Please note for purely research purposes I have a 1/4 full 750ml tub to "test" :-) For a start, this will immediately interest anyone who loves dairy ice cream, but went vegan. Dilemma. You like ice cream but can't have it. Enter Swedish Glace. (And Toffuti, but I sure as hell can't find any Toffuti!) It's also good in that way for anyone with lactose intolerance, or any other animal food intolerance. First, by trying this out, it will dispel one myth: it does not need dairy to taste like ice cream always did. OK, so maybe it might taste a little different to some dairy ice ... more

    I felt a bit dubious commenting on this product, as all the reviews only add to my own personal experience. But us minority allergy sufferers/vegans etc need to make our opinion heard, so here's my pennyworth. To date, this is the only non-dairy ice-cream I have found and it allways has a place in my freezer.I have tried three flavours, but go back to vanilla, it goes well with hot or cold desserts, just imagine, strawberries and ice-cream, hot apple-pie with melting ice-cream? You have to try it to believe it, it does taste like an up-market ice-cream. Also, there is none of those icy lumps ... more

    When I went vegan about 5 years ago there was hardly any food like this for us and the general assumtion was that we were just supposed to eat lettuce leves and rabbit food (if I hear this comment one more time I'm really gonna kill someone by the way). When my mum served me up a bowl of Sweedish glace I had a good old rant at her, you know the usual...you forgot I was vegan, you don't care about me, you're trying to trick me, why don't you put me up for adoption, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, she produced the tub and I read it, waiting to pouce on her with my 'Ah, Ha, I told you so' speech. No ... more

    Advantages Advantages Wonderful product, not just for vegans or lactose intolerants

    I agree with all the existing reviews. With lactose intolerance, I would try anything without dairy content, but never expected to find something so gorgeous, and better than dairy ones. My friends are all converts. Only complaints: I wish I could get it in more of the supermarkets, and not just one or two flavours. They seem to discontinue items with no real reason - at least that I can fathom. They had a sublime flavour - Caramel - to die for, but suddenly discontinued it. Now they appear to be stopping their choc ices. I'm sure if they advertised the product and made it more readily ... more

    Being lactose intolerant and having a sweet tooth, I was over the moon to discover Swedish Glace Ice Cream. Its so tasty I even tell the supermarket cashiers about it! As others said, the price varies depending where you get it from, and flavours are often limited. So far I have only found chocolate and Vanilla ones. In fact it is soooo scrumpiliciously gorgeooous, I sometimes end up having a full glace mountain in my dish, and begin at the peak then slowly eat my way down, MMMMM. Seriously though, this is THE tastiest ice cream ever, and even though I did like dairy, I much prefer this. Its ... more
