...Not long after purchasing our swiffer I found that they had far more potential than I had originally thought! I was putting it away one day because I had run out of cloths. Some idiot had left a bottle top in the middle of the floor. To be honest, I had had a bad day. I was not my usual jolly self. In a fit of temper I attacked the bottle top with the swiffer and sent it hurtling across the laminate floor. I brought this product because my hoover would not pick up entirely everything from my wooden floors. I was totally amazed by how great it works. It literally does pick up all dust including hairs and has a great swivel action to twist into corners. It came in a small box and you simply screw the limbs together in order to make the stem of the broom. It only cost me £8 approx. Advantages: Attracts dust and stops it flying around as you dust. Disadvantages: Quite expensive for a disposable item.
I quite fancied buying a Swiffer cleaning system, it looks fun on the TV, but the mop type thing would be a waste of money for me. I have got hardly any hard floors to use it on. But when I saw the Swiffer cloths on offer in my local Tesco, at £1.99 for 16 instead of the normal £2.99, I thought I would give them a try. You can use them for dusting by hand and thats what I do. The clothes appear very small but they are actually folded into four, which ... ...to dusting. After using a Swiffer cloth, the amount of dust, even after several days, is minimal...that's quite amazing I think! It says on the box that the cloths attract common allergens...if that's true, (and there is nothing on the box to back up the claim), then this product could prove invaluable for families suffering from allergies. I would recommend trying this product, but feel that the usual price of £2.99 is likely to stop people giving ...

...This is where the Swiffer system is very useful. All you have to do is to attach an electrostatic cloth to the brush thingie and away you go. It attracts dust and hair and leave my floor just muddy rather than hairy as well. (Just need to train afore mentioned big-footed hound to use the door mat now.)
This is an excellent dust collecting system if you use it in a small room which I do, but I need to use two seperate cloths some time as one soon ... ...in a large room it worth be more trouble than its worth to keep changing the cloth.
However, it solves my problem in the kitchen and collects all the hair. Its amazing how much there actually is. At £6.99 I think this little appliance is worth buying if you have a similar cleaning problem. For larger rooms though, I wouldn't bother.
Think I will have to collect all that hair and save it to 'knit' another dog! ...

I have always found dusting a very mondane sort of task so those of you who are involved in the care taking of a home will completely understand that there are lots to do and not a lot of time to do it - after all there are only "twenty four hours in a day".

I need to replace my Swiffers heads evely few times i use it as it collects dust.At first i thought it would spread the dust around, and how wrong ... ...Pearsonally i like the Swiffer and find it most helpful around the house.The Swiffer makes cleaning really easy and easy enough for the really lazy people ie me.Some people are still using mops but i find the it is totally unneccesary if your floor is just a little dusty.The Swiffer also picks up light muck which saves you getting the dustpan and brush!!.
Overall i think the Swiffer makes a great house pal and should be an a essential bit of cleaning ...

...get a pack of 10 swiffer clothes wich just clip onto the rubber pad and away you go. We have 2 cats and this really does pick up all the dust dirt and all the cat hairs too. the clothes can be used on there own as regular dusters and there very thick and fluffy and do hang on to the dust so you don't just move it around you pick it up and through it away. The swiffer is also good at getting at thoughs cobwebs you can't reach when you don't want to ...

I didnt quite believe that a little sheet of something that resembled those softener sheets I used to put into my laundry load was going to clean anything. However, a quick demo soon left me with my jaw hanging open. Swiffer comes with a long stick with a flat end at the end, think mop, but instead of straggly bits of material, a simple rectangle ... ...Swiffer. You then whisk the stick around as you would a vaccuum cleaner, and the little sheet picks up hair, dust, little bits of paper using pure static. It doesn't simply push the dust around, it actually picks it up, sticking onto the sheet so you can get rid of it but throwing it away. I saw the Swiffer advertised on T.V and thought right I have got to have one. Went round a few shops and found that the price was varied, so I chose the cheaper priced shop naturally. Swiffer is really great, you can buy either a flat based brush/mop thing, with disposable duster sheets, or you can just buy packs of the sheets. You can use the disposable sheets with and with out the mop thing. Without they are great for dusting everyday items, especially the TV screen as the sheets pull the dust onto them and hold on to it, so instead of just pushing the dust around and stirring it up into the air your actually removing it. With ... ...floors, especially if you have a pet, they pick up hair with the greatest of ease. Another good thing is that they are dry so theres no accidents caused by people slipping on the wet floor. Also the handle of the mop comes in 3 or 4 sections which means you can shorten it's length which is great for sliding it down behind the radiators, I did this and was horrified at what it brought out obviously my normal attempt of putting a hoover attachment ...

...That was until i found Swiffer cloths, made with hard floors in mind it is a kind of dry mop system. It traps the dust inside tiny honeycomb segments of the cloth, holding the dirt/dust inside. These cloths need no polish and work wonders in the car and instead of moving the dust around it traps it, What your left with is a dust free dashboard and no smell of polish.
My only complaint is that they are not cheap, but something they dont tell you ...

...I've been using the Swiffer system for a few months now, and it really is the easiest way to clean. I use the dry cloths with the long handle swiffer mop, and then replace the dust catchers with the Swiffer wet cloths, which clean superbly. The old method would be to get on my hands and knees, hurt my back, and use the old dustpan and brush. Then, open up the bottle of Pledge Wood Floor Cleaner, squirt it out, and mop it around using a lot of power, ... ...adds even more work. When you are in a hurry, or just don't want to spend your whole day cleaning, these alternatives are not only easier, but I feel they clean better. With the dry cloths, the dust is grabbed up, trapped and doesn't fly around the room. It's easy too, since I gleefully slide it around the room, standing upright. You could even pop on your favorite tunes and put some rhythm into your sweeping! The wet cloths not only get more dust ...

We have all wood and tile floors here, no carpets at all, and it was actually pleasant listening to the Hi Fi, and wandering around the room dusting the floor! I found a bit of a problem picking up the last remnants of the cleaning session, and I would like a "swiffer Polish" to allow me to polish the floors as well (a seperate ... ...non branded swiffers, and while the results are OK, they are not as good as the real thing. A tip, to save money, after you've used the swiffer, put it on the broom inside out, you get another few rokms worth of cleaning :) The telescopic handle is useful, as there's nearly a foot between my wife and myself, its useful to be able to use it in comfort. ...
