Don't forget however that you don't get internet with that! You have to pay £5 a month for that also! If your due for an upgrade then by all means try and get a good deal but at the minute T-mobile are not offering much in my opinion! The 3g internet that the G1 uses is really fast. It is covered around most of the country with good signal. If you are worried there is a coverage map on the t-mobile site that lets you ...

Advantages: Android Market, Google Maps Disadvantages: Design, Unresponsive Screen, Bad Keypad Layout, Bad Battery Life
I have been due for an upgrade since September, but am still waiting for the release of the phone I really want, I rang up to see if there was any release date set for it but was told there was still no date set, but would I like to charge the T Mobile G1 instead?! I haven't really been interested in this phone because of having read a few reviews, and looking the spec etc up myself, it just wasn't something that appealed to me. I said I'd prefer ... ...try it for 7 days and if it wasn't to my liking, I could send back and there'd be no difference in my account status, so after a bit of persuasion, I agreed.
The phone is the result of a joint partnership between T Mobile (operator) and Google (operating system), however the actual handset is made by HTC who regularly make phones to be rebranded by T Mobile (and also Orange and O2) but also release phones in their own HTC form too. I've always found ...

Advantages: Built-in compass sensitive Google Street View Disadvantages: Slightly conservative look
...pleasing as the iphone, the T-Mobile G1 is definitely a force to be reckoned with. It's body may be a little more "corporate" looking than that of it's ultra stylish competitor, but the G1's slightly smaller size and shape actually give it a more pleasant feel in the hand and pocket. Unlike the iphone it also has a sleek, slide out , backlit qwerty keyboard for those who find this type of text entry quicker and more comfortable. The newly developed ... ...many ways feels similar to that of Apple's Mac OS. Operationally the G1 allows the user to customize their desktop in the same way as the iphone, with one-tap icon navigation to all of the users chosen applications. These great applications are instantly downloadable from the Android market. A large number of them are free, while the buyable apps cost on average between £1-4. Thousands of apps are available including the in-built fast access to Googlemail, ...

The T-Mobile G1 is an exceptional device which allows you to do everything that you need when you need to do it. In the UK, the device comes with Unlimited Internet Usage, 'Unlimited' Meaning 1GB a Month of Bandwith, and the ability to access all of the applications avaliable on the Application Market. The Application Market is an online section, accessable via the mobile phone, to download various tools, games and various other types of apps, that ... ...are free, however; there are some that charge a small one-time fee, usually less than £1.50 (US $1.99). In my honest opinion the ability to add things, mostly for free, onto your mobile is a major bonus. The phone also ships with a Youtube application, and using the 3G Internet connection that the phone is compatable with, streams High Qualitiy videos straight from Youtube. The phone is often updated by google and it shows a "Update Avaliable" Pop-up ...

T-Mobile G1.
== The Hardware: ==
My initial impression of the G1 was mixed. It looks pretty business-like with the large touchscreen and rounded corners, but in both look and feel it has an air of Russian build quality about it. A far cry from the ultra sleek finish you get with the latest phones from Apple and Sumsung. The sliding screen does not have a positive location and tends to move slightly in the hand, not a reassuring feeling.
The single ... ...cover hides a MicroSD slot. T-Mobile currently ship the G1 with an 8GB card.
The camera works best in landscape mode where the fiddly capture button falls under your right index finger. This is a 3.1Mb resolution (2048 x 1536) device with no flash and no zoom. Exposure and colour accuracy are poor, even in daylight. Let's be honest if you bought a camera for say £80 and got results like this you would be very disappointed, but maybe that's missing ...

Advantages: A very wide range of features Disadvantages: Doing too much causes the battery to die quickly, Poor Camera
The T-Mobile G1 is my first foray into the world of smart phones. Previously a keen Sony Ericsson Walkman phone user, I wasn’t too sure how I’d adjust to such a dramatically different phone. Honesty, I adjusted quite well. The G1 takes a bit of time to get used to but I don’t regret my decision. Appearance and Design The G1 has a rather simple design. It has a 3.2 inch screen and is 117.7 mm in length, 55.7 mm in width and 17.1 mm in thickness. Below ... ...and mobile internet which I’d say is a pretty good deal. To conclude, I’d recommend the T-Mobile to anyone who is looking for a phone with variety of features. If you need a phone the just be a phone, the G1 may not be the best one for you. ...

Advantages: Good phone, free software, reliable, free 2Gb Memory card, growing online community Disadvantages: No Flash player, camera is a bit poor
I have had mine for just under a week now and I am impressed in general. The phone layout works well for me, the screen is clear and easy to read, the keyboard is again simple to use and quite fast to type on even if you have sausage fingers (like I have) everything feels nice and quite robust. Surfing the net is simple and the in built browser works very well and is quite fast, page loading times are pretty good even for pages with a lot of photos. ... ...lip sync which I admit came as a suprise. The E-mail section I had up and running in a couple of minutes both for my Google account and for my demon account. I always plug my mobiles in for a charge overnight so battery life hasn't really been stretched yet but I did notice that the bar had moved appreciably after about ...

Jus i know,G1 is so far the only use of Google's mobile operating system, is now available through consecutive 18-month installments to be 250 pounds, 40 pounds at the same time every month free of service, such as 1250 minutes rather call, of course, can also be used for SMS, MMS or Internet traffic services.

Advantages: fast speed internet, memory card slot, Disadvantages: no bluetooth, bad camera, no video recorder
Pros: Single integrated contacts/calendar/mail eliminates having yet ANOTHER place to have to sync. While it's thicker than the IPhone it's also narrower making it much easier to hold and manipulate one-handed.
Cons: The lack of a real headphone jack and bluetooth stereo and tethering are issues. The latter two will probably be dealt with at some point because they are software issues but the lack of a headphone jack was a real mistake.
Summary: ... ...two-handed (and is really too big and thin to use single handed... it tends to want to flip in your hand) the G1 is just the right size to comfortably hold in one hand. Most of the application limitations that are listed in the review are things that are likely to be dealt with in the near-term via software updates and shouldn't be the basis for making a decision. Think of the G1 as the more practical workhorse phone while the IPhone is the glitzy ...

pros!
1- theres a touch screen to dial and a full QWERTY keyboard to browse the web and text
2- the internet is fast! on this phone!
3- you can download tons of useful applications such as the barcode scanner - which scans a products barcode and then automatically looks for price comparisons and reviews online!
cons :(
1- its pretty big for a phone!
2- the battery drains faster the more you use it (low battery life)
3- the touchscreen gets really fiddly sometimes

I recently received the G1 as an upgrade. I thought that it was a very impressive handset indeed. In my opinion the touch screen is as good if not better than the iphone. Advantages: Good OS, comfy feel, robust, useful GPS Disadvantages: Battery life, weak processor, lots of "Force Close" issues
I have been a G1 owner for several months now, and I can say honestly that it provides a fantastic, easy mobile experience. The operating system, Android, is top notch, on a par with iPhone OS I'd say! The screen is responsive to the lightest touch, all of the physical keys are built well and seem robust. I have dropped the phone several times and it has made some scratches, but nothing major, it appears to be a pretty strong phone! However, there ... ...the OS is very impressive, it is slowed down by the phone's hardware, and I understand this flaw also affects the G2 (HTC Hero) and the HTC Magic. A bit more processing power would be appreciated, as there are a lot of times where the phone slows noticeably. The battery life is far less than satisfactory. I can run the phone fine for a day no problem, but that's with pretty much everything turned off. No 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any features ...
