"...I started reading my mums Take a Break and I loved it! It was always full of competitions (which I loved) and real life stories that where really interesting. After that I became totally hooked and now I get my gran to get the magazine for me every Monday they night I now sleep round. HOW MUCH and WHERE FROM? "Relax and Read!" Review with images

AdvantagesCheap, good value for money. Great stories

DisadvantagesCan include upsetting stories

"TAKE A BREAK COST 80p Take A Break is a womans weekly magazine which I have been reading for several years now. I remember when I was eighteen thinking this magazine was for elderly or middle-aged women!! I'm thirty now and still consider myself very young and so now of course have changed my views and definately think this magazine is for younger people too! It's more grown up than magazines like Seventeen or More which really are teenage ..." Read review

Like a cross between a puzzle book and Pick Me Up! - But Better Review with images

AdvantagesCheap, has real-life stories, loads of puzzles

DisadvantagesNone for me

"...choice and Total TV guide. Take a Break was launched in 1990 and the original price was 35p. Today, Take a Break costs a mere 82p but is still one of the cheapest magazines you can buy. There are double issues for christmas and new year as well as Take a Break's Fate & Fortune and Take a Break's Fiction Feast. ==FRONT COVER== The front cover of Take a Break features a female model smiling with the Take a Break logo on the left side. The top ..." Read review

A good weekly magazine

AdvantagesGood price, appeals to a variety of readers

DisadvantagesSome stories are similar each week

"...are short recipes which don’t take a long time to make and don’t need a trolley full of ingredients. The travel pages focus on a different destination each week, telling you a bit about the destination, where is best to stay for families, couples, those who want to see culture, animals or beaches. It also gives you some prices and hotel information. A TV page gives you a brief outline of what’s coming up that week on the popular soaps. Everything ..." Read review

I don't mind if I do - Take a Break that is!

Advantageswell written, true life stories, great fiction

Disadvantagescan't read it quick enough, never win competitions

"Take a Break Magazine One of my favourite magazines, Take A Break magazine is designed mainly for a female market, but there are males readers, who often write in with stories, letters and other contributions. There are plenty of opportunities for reader participation in how the magazine is prepared (more about this later). This magazine is a full colour magazine out every Thursday for 72p. There are 7 distinction areas which this magazine has ..." Read review

Take a break with this magazine...

AdvantagesCheap, easy reading and easy to enter competitions

DisadvantagesSome stories can be difficult and sad to read

"I buy Take a Break on a weekly basis. This is mostly bought in my lunch break and left in my drawer to read when I am on lunch and the weather is too rubbish to take a walk outside (which is most of the time at the moment!) I have decided to do a review on this magazine as there are quite a few but none have been written for a while. Take a Break is currently 78p in the shops and each issue is around 60 to 70 pages. It is a weekly magazine and ..." Read review

Advantagesfun, price

Disadvantagesnone

"...life’ ones. I recently bought Take A Break magazine. Take A Break Magazine is a British magazine for women. It costs 84p which I think is great value as it means that every can afford a copy. I like how the magazine provides great easy reading as it means that it is a great magazine to read whilst chilling out with a cup of tea. The language is simple and there isn’t anything too complicated or too ‘in depth’ which is great; this however, usually ..." Read review

Take a Break and win some great prizes!

AdvantagesGreat prizes and variety of features

DisadvantagesOdds of winning are fairly low

"Take a Break is a weekly magazine, described by Bauer Publishing as “a community which speaks up for ordinary people of all ages”. It sells for just 78p an issue and is full of competitions to win over £30,000 worth of prizes each week. It is also packed with stories, as well as health and beauty sections. '''Competitions''' The first competition is “4Sqaured” which is a 4x4 arrow word which gives 25 people the chance to win £50 each week, and is ..." Read review

Take a Break needs a rest

AdvantagesPuzzles and Competitions

DisadvantagesQuality of the paper

"...the magazine, both of which take up a page. The quality of journalism in these stories, is not good, so I do tend to skip these. “TAB” has been following the story of Donna and Mark Still for well over a year now, since Donna was diagnosed with a form of leukaemia. This week sees the couple in the office of a psychosexual therapist, as they are experiencing problems in their marriage. While I have every sympathy with the couple, as my own mother ..." TAB the longest break ever

Advantagesbeen around a long time

Disadvantagesbland , boring to look at

"Take A break magazine was founded in 1990 and still survives to this day . No mean feat in the cut throat competitive magazine world. Many more glamourous magazines have fallen by the wayside in this time , but I am not a fan of Take a Break. OK I am male and it's aimed at females but there are better " female" magazines out there in my opinion. Why don't I like it ? Well it's bland , dull and dreary in my view . If you look at the front cover ..." Read review

take a break may numb your mind

Advantagescheap. Lots for your money

Disadvantagesdepressing stories

"I first started buying Take a Break last year as a way of passing the time during my sometimes long and boring night shifts. At first glance the front cover showed lots of amazing prizes that were on offer as a result of successfully completing their puzzles. I bought Take a Break from Tesco's for the bargain price of 82p. Not bad I thought compared to many magazine prices these days. The magazine consists of approximately 63 pages which contain ..." Read review

Take a Break and win perhaps

Advantagesgood read and competitions

Disadvantagescant send in via the internet - yet

"Take a break is not just a womans magazine. Just take a look on the winners page and see all the men that have entered and won competitions and why not. I buy it weekly. It is 66p every Thursday and has many interesting articles from true stories, fashion and health specials. The main reason though that many buy it is for the puzzles and competitions. Most week there is a car to be won, money holidays and other prizes. I am sure this household ..." Read review
