Utter [Insert Expletive]

AdvantagesIs this a joke?

DisadvantagesNo, afraid not.

"It takes a special brand of incompetence to force me back into the arms of the cretins at BT. Yet somehow Talk Talk managed to frustrate me to the point I was clawing at BT Towers' door in desperation, like a dog with a bladder infection. I moved in with my girlfriend in April, which should have been a joyous experience. Except when I plugged my laptop in and tried to contact the router. "Oh, the broadband's never really worked" my girlfriend ..." Read review

TALK TALK - NOT ON YOUR LIFE

AdvantagesRegular monthly payment

DisadvantagesRubbish Customer Services

"I am not a customer of Talk Talk and after my experiences with them would never ever be. My parents who are 80 joined Talk Talk a few months ago, up to a month ago no problems. Then one morning there phone was dead, my mum called me from a phone box asking me to report it to Talk Talk for them. She gave me a freephone number to use, as she had been trying to get throught for ages with no joy. Finally after a 30 minute wait, I managed to get ..." Read review

Talk is cheap... for a reason

AdvantagesCheaper than BT and no monthly fees. You're likely to save a bit of money.

Disadvantages'Number witheld', line noise, 0870 contact number, clueless customer services.

"...hassle, my sister is on TalkTalk already. The company offer everyone one 'call a friend for free' number which you can ring as often as you like for nothing, as long as your call is less than three hours long. It seemed to make sense to be able to phone her for nothing, and vice versa, rather than paying BT's 6p per hour Option 1 charge. I also decided that whatever savings I could make were worth making. My last BT bill was bigger than the previous ..." Read review

Tiscali > TalkTalk

AdvantagesFree TT customer Calls, Fairly Stable Online Service

DisadvantagesCustomer/Technical Service, Internet speed, Modem, Terms and Conditions, email

"When I acquired my first internet/landline service from Tiscali several years ago, I hadn't the faintest clue of how to set up either properly. Luckily back then, the help from Tiscali was just fine and everything was sorted, no problems with anything except little hiccups that are expected. Enter TalkTalk. I received an alarming letter stating that Tiscali's UK systems had been purchased by TT and that my subsequent service will be the same price ..." Read review

Promise everything, provide very little

AdvantagesA clear phone Line

DisadvantagesYou dont get the services you are promised, customer services are rubbish

"Nearly a year ago we moved into our new home and at the time the only telephone and internet provider was Sky, so we signed up with them for one year, we took all three services that they were providing so as well as the phone and internet they also provided us with their television package. For the television we paid £26, for our phone line we paid £11 and after the first three months we paid £6.50 for our internet. and the bills were on a monthly ..." Read review

♫♫Happy talky talky, happy talk♫

AdvantagesIt's free to talk to other users

DisadvantagesNone yet

"I have spent the last couple of years looking out for any possible way to save money. Itís not that I am a skinflint, but I donít see that point in paying over the odds for anything. I have had my phone calls with a couple of different providers who were cheaper that BT, but the 0870 numbers tend to be very expensive. More and more companies are switching over to 0870 numbers, so you canít avoid dialling them. I received an email from my Dad. ..." Read review

You will TalkTalk - to their complaints department

AdvantagesCheapish

DisadvantagesToo many to list

"...them and the head of TalkTalk was rather impressive. In early 2006 they began offering free broadband if you signed up to a telephone calls package. They were so inundated with people signing up that they couldn't meet the demand and got a reputation for poor service and appalling customer relations. The broadband service was patchy and lots of people never managed to get online. Hundreds contacted Watchdog, who took up the cause. Watchdog got ..." Read review

A balanced review on TalkTalk?

AdvantagesPricing

DisadvantagesMany people have had bad experiences

"...so many Ciao rants about TalkTalk that I felt I had to write a balanced review, so that people can make a more informed choice. I hope this helps! My experience with TalkTalk ---------------------------------------------------- I have been with TalkTalk for over 2 years. I was initially with their talk 1 scheme (a cheap calling plan, see below for more info). In September 2006 I switched to their Talk 3 plan, which includes line rental from ..." Read review

Its good to talk!

Advantagescheaper calls, easy to transfer

Disadvantagesno payment options

"Talktalk is the new home phone company from the carphone warehouse, it was set up last year and their aim is to let you talk for free and undercut BT! I was very skeptical at first and assumed the process would be a hassle as there are so many home phone companies out there. I thought there would be prefix numbers and problems with the line. Anyway to cut a long story short I received an incentive to sign up (i.e. I got paid!) so never one to turn ..." Read review

Talk Fine But Surfs Not Up!!

AdvantagesReasonable price, Phone and broadband in one, fairly fast downloads

DisadvantagesTerrible customer services, Doesn't work well with IE

"We have been with Talk Talk for about twelve months now and to be honest as a whole they have been ok really after a really bad start when I nearly told them to just disconnect me and put me back to AOL, however I will be starting a new broadband contract soon, I have decided, and it will not be with Talk Talk, the following should show why. The Reason We Changed To Talk Talk ********************************************* As I said we started ..." Read review

The best alternative to BT (If not the only one)

AdvantagesPrice, Free International Calling, Reliable Broadband

DisadvantagesPoor estimation of demand for the service

"...about 5-10 minutes. The transfer to TalkTalk went without a hitch, and 17 days later I was a member of their service. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about BT, who messed up my line rental charges, but that's a different story. I was thrilled at finally being able to make calls without having to watch the bill. I could, without concern, phone companies located in the US and Europe to enquire about their products (I'm a bit of a tech junkie), ..." Read review

I decided to Write Write

AdvantagesI dont have to use them anymore!

DisadvantagesThe staff are stupid

"I had fun with Talk Talk. I wrote to them. This is the actual letter i sent. "I write with regard the above account about which you have sent me a letter, dated 04/10/06 suggesting the account is overdue. When I first heard about Talk Talk and its low cost and free broadband offer, I was a little sceptical. After doing some checking into the offer, I was please to learn it was not too good to be true and that you were in fact offering such ..." Read review

It's Good to Talk... And That's About All

AdvantagesGood for voice calls, reasonable value there.

DisadvantagesPoor tech support, dodgy broadband connection, unreliable.

"...be switched over to the TalkTalk broadband service and that we would indeed get the broadband for free and the 8Mb/s service. The only downside was that we would be limited to 40GB of downloads each month. When I read this I was somewhat dismayed. I looked at what I downloaded in a week and it came to around 30GB. Granted, the week in question was an excessive week as stuff had been developed pretty quickly during that week, but in any given week, ..." Read review

Be warned: It's cheap for a reason

Advantagescheap, customer service did what I asked for in the end

DisadvantagesInternet cutting out upon a few occasions, not best quality internet, the hassle

"...have been meaning to review Talktalk for a while so I will say that this review may seem rather outdated. I moved out of my last flat at the end of June 2008 so a lot could have changed since then, particularly the prices considering that this all took place before the credit crunch. Anyhoo', I think it's the service they provided that counts. When I moved into a house with three other girls in September I was in charge of the phones and net. We ..." Read review

Talk Talk - so bad it's untrue - UPDATE

AdvantagesGood, cheap all-inclusive landline package

DisadvantagesAppalling (expensive) customer service

"I wrote a review on 10th October about my frustrations with Talk Talk. Two months later - has it improved? Well, on the postive side: I now have a fully-functioning landline again, billed at a very competitive £21 a month for line rental and all UK calls (and many international destinations too). I also have a talk talk mobile, and calls between the two should be free (more on that below). I have stopped being billed for my broadband connection, ..." Read review
