Advantages Advantages Is this a joke?

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No, afraid not.

It takes a special brand of incompetence to force me back into the arms of the cretins at BT. Yet somehow Talk Talk managed to frustrate me to the point I was clawing at BT Towers' door in desperation, like a dog with a bladder infection. I moved in with my girlfriend in April, which should have been a joyous experience. Except when I plugged my laptop in and tried to contact the router. "Oh, the broadband's never really worked" my girlfriend interjected. "Sorry?" I replied incredulously. "Well I've tried to get it working but it only stays connected for five minutes at a time - if you're ... more

    Advantages Advantages Regular monthly payment

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rubbish Customer Services

I am not a customer of Talk Talk and after my experiences with them would never ever be. My parents who are 80 joined Talk Talk a few months ago, up to a month ago no problems. Then one morning there phone was dead, my mum called me from a phone box asking me to report it to Talk Talk for them. She gave me a freephone number to use, as she had been trying to get throught for ages with no joy. Finally after a 30 minute wait, I managed to get through to Talk Talk to report the fault on my parent's line. I was told I had to ring a different number as my parents line had been transferred to a ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheaper than BT and no monthly fees. You're likely to save a bit of money.

Disadvantages Disadvantages 'Number witheld', line noise, 0870 contact number, clueless customer services.

The internet has opened up a whole new world of consumer choice. A few minutes spent on price comparison websites can yield cheaper gas bills, cheaper electricity, discount shopping codes, a price comparison for practically any product under the sun, and the ability to switch your telephone provider from BT to a myriad of alternative operators that are now springing up. The most well-known rival to BT is currently TalkTalk, a service owned and operated by the Carphone Warehouse. They use BT and Opal Telecom lines to route calls and generally offer small savings over BT's 'Together' options. In ... more

Advantages Advantages Free TT customer Calls, Fairly Stable Online Service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer/Technical Service, Internet speed, Modem, Terms and Conditions, email

When I acquired my first internet/landline service from Tiscali several years ago, I hadn't the faintest clue of how to set up either properly. Luckily back then, the help from Tiscali was just fine and everything was sorted, no problems with anything except little hiccups that are expected. Enter TalkTalk. I received an alarming letter stating that Tiscali's UK systems had been purchased by TT and that my subsequent service will be the same price and avoid a number or email change. I was sent a TT branded modem which was incredibly poor and caused me to call up the TT customer service for ... more

Advantages Advantages A clear phone Line

Disadvantages Disadvantages You dont get the services you are promised, customer services are rubbish

Nearly a year ago we moved into our new home and at the time the only telephone and internet provider was Sky, so we signed up with them for one year, we took all three services that they were providing so as well as the phone and internet they also provided us with their television package. For the television we paid £26, for our phone line we paid £11 and after the first three months we paid £6.50 for our internet. and the bills were on a monthly basis. All was well we had a few problems with the tv channels in the bad weather but everything else was fine, the internet was great and we very ... more

I have spent the last couple of years looking out for any possible way to save money. It’s not that I am a skinflint, but I don’t see that point in paying over the odds for anything. I have had my phone calls with a couple of different providers who were cheaper that BT, but the 0870 numbers tend to be very expensive. More and more companies are switching over to 0870 numbers, so you can’t avoid dialling them. I received an email from my Dad. He’d switched his landline over to Talk Talk by the Carphone Warehouse. You may have heard the adverts. If you watch Big Brother, you can’t have missed ... more

TalkTalk HISTORY ~~~~~~~~ Aren't there a lot of reviews on TalkTalk? That is either a very good sign or a very bad one. I'll leave you to judge. I was impressed with them when they were 'got' by the BBC consumer programme 'Watchdog'. There was a long saga concerning them and the head of TalkTalk was rather impressive. In early 2006 they began offering free broadband if you signed up to a telephone calls package. They were so inundated with people signing up that they couldn't meet the demand and got a reputation for poor service and appalling customer relations. The broadband service was ... more

    Advantages Advantages Pricing

Disadvantages Disadvantages Many people have had bad experiences

I have read so many Ciao rants about TalkTalk that I felt I had to write a balanced review, so that people can make a more informed choice. I hope this helps! My experience with TalkTalk ---------------------------------------------------- I have been with TalkTalk for over 2 years. I was initially with their talk 1 scheme (a cheap calling plan, see below for more info). In September 2006 I switched to their Talk 3 plan, which includes line rental from them as opposed to BT, and free Broadband. I was previously with BT for my line rental, and Tiscali for my broadband. With 24 months of ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no payment options

Talktalk is the new home phone company from the carphone warehouse, it was set up last year and their aim is to let you talk for free and undercut BT! I was very skeptical at first and assumed the process would be a hassle as there are so many home phone companies out there. I thought there would be prefix numbers and problems with the line. Anyway to cut a long story short I received an incentive to sign up (i.e. I got paid!) so never one to turn down the chance for cash I joined as soon as I could. What is talktalk? --------------------- When you sign up for talktalk they basically take over ... more

We have been with Talk Talk for about twelve months now and to be honest as a whole they have been ok really after a really bad start when I nearly told them to just disconnect me and put me back to AOL, however I will be starting a new broadband contract soon, I have decided, and it will not be with Talk Talk, the following should show why. The Reason We Changed To Talk Talk *************************************** ****** As I said we started up with Talk Talk about twelve months ago, before we were with BT and AOL, we were paying about £10.50 a month BT line rental and I think it was £17.99 a ... more
