Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited time before stock is changed.

When I first wrote this opinion, I penned those immortal words “This is a VERY rare occurrence for me – writing about a retail outlet, and hot on the heels of my Clarks Village op too, whatever next? Is our hero weakening or is he a closet shopper. No, I’m just weakening due to plummeting caffeine levels!” So take it from me that’s it’s even more rare, possibly on a par with bears vacating the woodlands just to pooh, that I’d bother updating a retail opinion. One morning, now a couple of years ago, I was coming out of Hounslow’s Treaty Centre shopping mall, when all at once I spied a name I ... more

It’s probably not a good idea to write a Ciao opinion when you’re fuming at the company in question but they deserve everything they get! A week ago a Tchibo brochure came through the door with my boyfriend’s newspaper. I’m a sucker for any brochures or catalogues so of course I took a look. It’s not a large brochure – nor is their website – but it contains some cosy clothing and home accessories so it captured my attention. Since this is going to be one of the coldest winters for a while I’m looking for a hat and scarf at a reasonable price. My first port of call was going to be Matalan but ... more

Advantages Advantages Friendly staff, cheap prices, sell a bit of everything and coffee too!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Products change from week-to-week so u gotta be quick.

On this fine, yet extremely windy, afternoon, feeling very frustrated as this baby doesn't seem to want to emerge into this world, I decided to go for a walk around my local town centre to keep my mind occupied. Also, it has been said that keeping active can help. Soon becoming bored of the shops selling the same things over and over again, I found myself staring into the window of a shop I'd never realised was there before. Assuming it was fairly new I looked up at the big, blue shop sign that said "Tchibo". Curiosity soon took over and I found myself wandering inside … What is Tchibo? Well ... more

TCHIBO....a name I'd never heard of; that was until a small shiny brochure fell out of my Sunday newspaper last month. I flicked through, like you do,and thought that the products looked extremely well made and the prices...well they seemed too good to be true! THE PRODUCTS This small brochure contained a diverse range of prodcuts. There were items of sports clothing both for men and women..eg;cycling shorts, jogging trousers, tee shirts, socks etc...Kitchen gadgets..electronic juicers, kitchen scales, clocks, cutlery....garden furniture, cleaning products both electronic...eg handheld steamer ... more

    Advantages Advantages cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages Disadvantages only shops down south at the moment

I found this website while i was sitting here in front of the computer looking for a waffle machine i tried every where i eventually found one but they were all abroad and costing between £35-£55 plus postage and packing. Then i came across this site tchibo well known abroad especially germany where it used to be a coffee house that decided it would sell various pre-selected products once a month meaning for one month at a time then change the products the next month. So you could have coffee and buy something fairly cheaply. Well i decided to have a good look and what should i find but a ... more

Advantages Advantages Great products, some really useful.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any!

Well I'm already a subscriber to their newsletter so I know what new products are coming out or have come out therefore I can rush along to my local shop to buy something. I do like their products and do own a small selection, including but not limited to; - A torch (really nice) - A personal assistant (taken back - it brokedown) - A weather station (not a digital one) - A green bath mat -- goes with my green bath :-) The personal assistant I had actually stopped working after a while and I kept taking it back, getting a replacement, taking the replacement back and getting another one and ... more

Advantages Advantages Stock changes weekly so always something different

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stock changes weekly so you could miss out on items

If you have never been into a Tchibo shop you will be forgiven for thinking it is a gadget shop or something for electrical items as looking just in the windows you cannot tell what this shop sells. On entering the store you will be pleasantly surprised at the things they stock. Every week they have a different scheme so you can never be sure what will be in stock. This weeks scheme was Adventure holiday and they had a good arrangement of everything for the holiday from clothes and equipment to first aid kits. Everything is reasonably priced. The first aid kit comes with a booklet even ... more

Advantages Advantages Good range of products

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit cramped, quick stock turnaround

When the town I live in advertised that they were opening a Tchibo store in the shopping centre, I had no idea of what to expect - would it sell clothes, kitchen goods, food, furniture, linens etc - well the answer is yes to all!!!! The store in my town, isn't large and part of it is taken up with a coffee bar, so it always smells lovely when you go in and the gateaux and cakes always look too tempting, but it does manage to hold alot of stock. Each Wednesday a new range of products is stocked - so it could be kitchen gadgets, sports wear, bedroom furniture etc, you just don't know until you ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good quality products

Disadvantages Disadvantages There aren't enough outlets in the UK just yet

I am extremely fussy about quality, and if there are, for example, ten identical things on a rack, I tend to go through every single one to find the one that I consider to be of the highest quality. I have bought some Tchibo brand electrical items in the past that were found to be faulty, but I generally love their products. (Also, they have a 3-year guarantee on their electrical products, so there is plenty of time for you to take faulty items back to the shop.) I don't know any other shop in the UK that sells products of such high quality at reasonable prices. I am also glad that things like ... more

Advantages Advantages Good prices on some items and 3 year guarantee on everything electrical

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes the staff can be stroppy and the stuff changes each week so you *have* to get an item when you see it.

Its not to be sniffed at you know. In the last 12 mnths I have made several large purchases from Tchibo all electrical goods all at prices and quality that beats anywhere else and all with the knowledge that I have the 3 year guarantee to fall back on. The shops will also refund on any faulty item or even if you've just changed your mind about buying it! The one thing that lets this company down is the mail/web order side. The staff manning the helplines are in my opinion obstructive and stroppy. Which is so odd as the staff in the shops are more than eager to help and are polite at all times ... more
