Advantages Advantages A good range of great quality products for the home as well as clothes and sports equipment.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Atrocious customer service. Frequent order delays. Slow delivery and problematic returns.

Tchibo has a quite unblemished and very successful 60-year history in Germany, originally selling coffee and related products and later adding so-called non-food items. At first a strictly shop-based retail business, they eventually expanded into catalogue home shopping, then online shopping and most recently they have branched out into other European countries. So far so good. When they came to the UK, there were some teething problems - most notably their cheaply bought postcode data base which did not even remotely cover all UK addresses, excluding some customers from online shopping. But ... more

Consumer Opinion on Tchibo Home Shopping I hadn’t heard about Tchibo until I found a catalogue tucked inside the supplements of my Sunday newspaper. Usually I just throw the things that aren’t of interest to me into the bucket, but for some reason, I found myself compelled to leaf through this fairly thick catalogue to see what kind of merchandise they were selling. The layout of my opinion contains the following categories: 1). Catalogue Layout 2). Products 3). Prices 4). Easiness of Ordering 5). Speed of Delivery 6). Customer Services & Returns Collection 7). Other Tchibo ... more

Advantages Advantages Its cheap as chips but good quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages got to be quick

What is Tchibo? No it’s not a new sexual position from The Tantric Sex Manual. It’s not a Japanese word for sneeze either. What this means is SHOPPING. Oh I love that word, sometimes better than sex itself (I did say sometimes incase hubby reads this). Tchibo came to London in 1991, a relatively new concept idea. Its pioneer is Marc Hertz and he started it all in 1951. It originally was just a coffee shop but has since introduced coffee, cake and shopping. It made its mark in Europe big time before heading here and its origins ( whoops I nearly typed oranges then) came from Switzerland. To ... more

Advantages Advantages Good value for money, New products all the time.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stock runs out quickly.

I have read many mixed reviews for this company but I have been impressed so far. Who are they? Tchibo are a German company who origionally entered the UK market in 1991 just supplying coffee to hotel chains, restaurants, offices etc. They then opened coffee shop, initially in London, selling fresh coffee. They have expanded into non food items since then and now have over 40 shops selling low cost, high quality clothes, homeware etc. The mail order service started in 2002. What do they sell? Coffee - you can choose fresh beans or ground. This makes their shops smell gorgeous. Clothes/Shoes ... more

I know tchibo from Germany - where I am originally from. I never had a problem buying there nor with the home shopping service in Germany. So when I discovered tchibo in the Uk I thought "Yeah! A shop I can trust to order!" But boy, was I proofed to be wrong! ***************************************** ********************************************* ******************** First a bit of history: tchibo was founded by Max Herz and Carl Tchilling-Hiryan in 1949 in Germany. Their idea was to sell fresh coffee through mail order. The idea for the name tchibo was simply taken from the name Tchi(lling) ... more

Advantages Advantages Seem reasonably priced items

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor customer service, do not uplift returns when arranged

I placed an order at Tchibo Home Shopping Service, on their web site, I then received by email their news letter which stated that as a new customer, I could receive free packaging and postage if I entered this number when I placed my order . As I had already placed my order I could not enter the number to obtain the free P&P. So I emailed Tchibo twice to try and get this issue resolved, but did not receive any replies to my emails . I then sent another email asking for Tchibo to arrange collection of the order as I felt disappointed having not received the free P&P, but did not receive a ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Value for Money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer Services from Hell!!

Every week I get an email from Tchibo inviting me to check out their goods, every week I deleted it until finally one week I actually checked them out and realised they actually stock some nice products. Placing the order So at the end of September I placed an order for a a sleek metallic toaster and a sleek fast boil kettle. The ordering process was a doddle and I received an email straight away confirming my order-so far so good. Ten days pass and my order still hasn't arrived so being an impatient sort I send them an email asking when it would be likely to arrive. The email was ignored but ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Prices, quirky choices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer service from Hell

I ordered a PC on line. It was great value and was delivered quite promptly, the fly in the ointment was that it was faulty, failed to boot with a memory parity error, no matter, these things happen, and I wasn't about to hold it against them. It was one of these faults that I could fix in 5 minutes with a new memory chip, but I had paid for a new PC and called the customer dis-service line and they agreed to pick it up. To make it easy for them I gave my wife's work address, so that there would be somebody in. The courier failed to turn up on the appointed day so I called them and arranged ... more

    Advantages Advantages none

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tchibo will not supply parts

I purchased a Tchibo vacuum cleaner in 2006. It has had little work because its not really good for heavy work, so I use another brand for the main work. The vacuum recently needed a small part. I contacted Tchibo helpdesk they asked me to send all the details by email and said they would get in touch with Germany to see if they were allowed to supply me with a part. I wanted to buy the part, not get it for nothing. I have also been in touch with numerous repairers and also suppliers of spare parts. No one handles parts for Tchibo vacuums but Tchibo. Despite several emails and phone calls ... more

I have been using Tchibo for online shopping ever since the website was launched in the UK and on the whole have been very happy with both the customer service and the items I have purchased. I mainly buy children's clothes as they seem to fit my children who are taller than average very well and are of good quality. They stand up to frequent washing - the pyjamas, t-shirts, .jumpers, trousers etc. worn by my 2 children have now been passed on to their younger cousins and still look good. The children also like the duvet covers and pillow cases. My purchases are delivered by a local courier ... more
