    Disadvantages Disadvantages Becoming Pricey!

May the 'Force be with you' in reading this mammoth review! Technical Terms Used In Review Direct drive {turntables in which the motor is located directly under the center of the platter, the platter is entirely driven by the magnetic field activated by the turntable's stationary part of the system. Torque {means that the platter will spin at the set speed immediately. DJ's will go for a higher torque to enable fancy techniques! Wow and flutter {means the amount of frequency wobble that is caused by speed fluctuations. The lower the better as the platter will stay within a small percentage of ... more

Advantages Advantages Very high quality DJ Deck

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I no longer have them, due to having space, i regret selling them, i miss them, i'm gonna have them again. Ever since getting into the DJ scene, i learnt that Technics decks whether they are these or the SL1210's (black version) are and will stay the industry standard Professional DJ Turntable. I got my first one second hand for £280 with gold-plated plugs. This helped the sound quality, apparently. I then purchased a 2nd one brand new with a 2 channel mixer, for £450, inc Cart and needles. They are so easy to use. The strobe light on the front helps you find which speed the deck needs to run ... more

Advantages Advantages Nearly everything-the best decks by far.

Disadvantages Disadvantages high price new9though it is justified), pitch control clicks into place at 0% pitch.

Many decks claim to be better than the industry standard-the Technics SL1210 or SL1200-but none, in my opinion, come close. These are the best selling decks there are, so surely that shows how good they are. With +/-8% pitch, and very quick start up times, no wonder nearly all top DJs choose Technics as their weapon. The Technics decks have been around for years, but still look ready for business. Although there is no difference performance wise, I prefer the Technics 1200s to the 1210s. With their sexy silver finish and retro look, these decks would look at home anywhere, not just in the big ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to Use, look stunning, trendy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy, Easy to switch off by accident

If you haven't heard of the Technics SL1200, then you have no interest in djing... The decks are nice and sturdy as it's aluminium casing weighs in at a hefty 11kg. so if you're doing gigs, you'll need to build up those muscles if you want to move quickly! there is a high amount of torque and they are VERY easy to use! These decks are only for the true DJ's out there... at 0.025% WRMS this means that two tracks playing at the same speed are not going to go out of sync at any time! perfect! The only downfall is the slight lack of featires compared to some of the newer models. Stylus's are easy ... more

Advantages Advantages Industry Standard, Excellent Reliability, All round top performer

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None to name!

I have owned my pair of Techincs 1200's for 2 years now, I will say that it is simply the best purchase i've ever made. They are so accurate, they improved my beat matching within a few days. The performance on start up is top notch, which enables you to get into the mix instantly. I always thought my old Numark's were ok, but i realsied they had actually been holding me back all this time! They have taken my djing to a new level, which has led to me getting a residency at my local club. Basically, having Technics, gives you confidence as you know they are not gonna fail on you, and as clubs ... more

Advantages Advantages Well Built, Good reputation,

    Disadvantages Disadvantages speed control

The technics decks have been known as the "the best decks" for many years, but over the past year there have been many new decks that have been brought out that in my opinon are better that the technics. For example the Vestax PDX-2000 and the Vestax PDX-d3s are in my opinion a lot better that the technics sl-1200 if you compare the starting times the vestax decks are faster the have more pitch control a heavier tracking weight, reverse play, and the PDX-d3s has a digital pitch display. The vestax are not the only decks that are better than technics, the numark tt-2 have got a slower starting ... more

Advantages Advantages market leader, most clubs use these, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages parts are quite expensive

Technics are the most sought after and popular decks on the market, closely followed by vestax. however although vestax are a cracking set of decks, almost every d.j. will notice that most venues are sticking by there guns and leaving technics in the clubs. i think the main reason is that they have always been reliable and are very hard wearing. All though i am not very technically minded, I know that technics do pretty much everything that i need them to. Which is a all a busy d.j. needs. the residual value on these decks is briliant, and they could never be blamed as a bad buy. I know that ... more

Advantages Advantages The Best Deck Around Great Starting Speed And Overall Performance.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Well To Be Trueful I Can't Find Any.

The Has Got To Be The Best Deck Every Produced, But Just Because It's The Pro's Favourite Doesn't Mean To Say That It's The Only Deck Available. There Are Lots Of Manufacture's Revealing More Decks Each Year. To Be Honest I Think The Technic's Deck Needs A Bit Of A Sprucing Up. This Deck Has Stayed The Same For Several Years Now A I Personaly Think That It's Time To Change. I Would Also Consider The Stanton Deck Or The Gemini Which Does Look And Does The Business. The Are All Around The Same Price Bracket, But Try And Shop Around As There Is Second-Hand Decks Out There That Are In Excellent ... more

Advantages Advantages Great old skool flavour deck which is very solid and very well built

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Amazing deck, still the choice of most professional DJ's even after all these years. They are built to last for years and years. They perform very well, they use a high torque motor and have very accurate pitch adjstment controls. They are direct drive which means they will spin at a good constant rate and unlike some other cheaper decks they don't suffer from power surges and speed up/down at random periods while being played. I feel these are the best decks available on the market even though there is some good competition from the vestax pdx2000 and the d3's and also stanton srt8-100's are ... more

these are the best decks around i should know. my boyfriend is a dj and he goes by the name of dj flux . the technics are not on a belt drive like the kam decks . the mechanically run. if you want to buy these new from any djing catalogue the lowest price is £700. this may seem a lot but they are the best. every club in the uk uses these decks so if you want to work in a club then you have to get used to these decks.any serious dj should invest in these decks. ... more
