I first came across the Tefal Actifry about 2 years ago whilst attending slimming world. Every month or so the group would enjoy a tasting evening when members bought along food made using slimming world recipes. One member prepared chips using her Actifry and I was amazed at how good they tasted, especially as they contained just 3% fat. Although we rarely eat chips in our family, I really wanted one of these machines for myself. At the time the price tag of around £160 was prohibitive but this autumn the price had come down so I took the plunge and bought one. What is the Actifry ... more

The Tefal Actifry - a revolutionary way to cook chips, all the flavour without the fat...Sounds Good Eh ? After much deliberation, and faced with a rapidly expanding waistline, I decided to buy a Tefal Actifry, I had read all the claims and decided that although very expensive for a fryer, Tefal was a reputable brand and it would be a useful product. October 2008, I saw one in Tesco and purchased it for £153.00. Could not wait to use it, so once home I unpacked it and read all the instructions... ***About the Actifry*** The Actifry is a large, and quite awkward unit, made predominantly from ... more

I am always looking for ways to make cooking healthier for me and my family and after someone recommended the Tefal Actifry Low Fat Electric Fryer to me, I thought it sounded like something that could be very beneficial and useful to me. I bought it from Amazon for £128.99, which was considerably more expensive than other fryer's within the Tefal range - or any other range for this matter - but I did feel that it was worth paying the extra money for the benefits that this particular fryer offered. Having ordered it from Amazon, I received the fryer the next working day - as predicted by their ... more

The Hype Imagine being able to fry a batch of real home-made chips with just a tablespoon of olive oil. Sounds too good to be true? Place up to a kilo of freshly cut chips into the cooking pan, then measure your preferred oil with the scoop provided, pour it over, and set the timer. Patented technology circulates hot air around your fries, whilst the mixing paddle evenly disperses the oil. The result is chips that are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with only 3% fat content. And there's more good news to come: The Actifry can also be used for cooking frozen chips, scampi, chicken ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still not the same as my fish shop chips!

My partner and me have just purchased our first house together and so we have bought a few gadgets for the kitchen. One in particular we couldn’t live without is the “Tefal Actifry”. We have both been avoiding chips for a while now because we are trying our best to be healthier. So chips before the ‘Actifry’ were a no go. As soon as my friend introduced me to theirs I knew I had to purchase one. The idea of cooking chips in a much more healthier way is so appealing to both me and my partner who love chips! The Actifryer states that you only need to use 1 spoonful of oil (this can be any oil ... more

I have just bought a Tefal FZ 7000 Actifry for £120 from Ebay and it arrived today, so I thought i'd let you know what my thoughts are on the handy little gadget. I quite like it to be honest and have read some reviews previously which have been negative about the Actifry, but so far I am happy with it. Althought it looks like a space age machine it is quite simply a good idea for healthier eating, you can cook 1kg of chips in a little oil which takes the fat content down for a healthier chip. I like this idea as I'm always on some kind of diet or other and really miss eating chips, so now I ... more

Sometimes I want to have a dinner that is simple to cook and yet one that my husband and I are going to enjoy. This is probably why my Mum picked me up this Tefal Actifry for Christmas 2011. I had been admiring them for a while and felt that the price tag was a little high yet naturally I was incredibly pleased when I opened my largest Christmas present to reveal this! This fryer comes well protected in a cardboard box. It is simple enough to get this out of the box and it takes just a moment or two to do this and to get it set up. The box and packaging was recyclable so that is always good.To ... more

Here I review the Tefal Actifry. It's the most wonderful kitchen gadget ever - and I 'love' kitchen gadgets. I purchased my first Tefal Actifry almost 3 years ago as I was on 'another' diet. Please be aware this is not just for those of us who want to lose weight - it makes the most fantastic chips anyway and I use it diet or no diet. So much so in fact, when my lovely Actifty died (of over use) after two and a half years, I immediately purchased another. It definately is a considered purchase as you could get away with a saucepan and some oil for cooking chips. The prices I found vary ... more

I bought this to cook chips but it takes to long 35-40 mins but they are not worth the wait to dried up . It does chicken wings great in 30 mins it also does have a recipe book some of them work others do not. The let downs of the fryer are the plastic clear lid the clips that keep lid closed are made of the same thin polycarbonate and after a little time they become brittle and break off so you can not keep the lid down. Lakeland customer service staff said that they have taken it out of their cataloge due to so many electrical and lid faults and would only offer a refund and no repair. The ... more

After seeing the Actifry advertised at a reduced price of £110 I rushed out and bought one. I count calories religously and have heard endless positive reviews about the great quality and how low fat the chips are, with a tiny 3% fat in each portion. My first impression of the acti fry was the size. It's much larger then i expected but still not huge, it fits onto my kitchen worktop nicely without taking up a huge amount of room and is neat considering it has a food capacity of 1kg. It's a simple design, a circular shape with a top which acts as a window, so you can see your chips bein turned ... more
