Advantages: Cheap Internet Access
Disadvantages: Customer Service None existant, long wait in some areas for digital TV

Having been a Telewest analogue subscriber for approx 2 years, without any problems, you may wonder why I'm writing this. 6 months ago, I moved in with my girlfriend and asked Telewest to add a second line to her house and transfer my number to it. Advantages: Reasonably Cheap in comparison

...not without complaint. I have Telewest dial Up Internet, Telewest Cable TV, and a Telewest phone Line. Well for most of the month anyway. Including phone calls of which there are not that many, my monthly bill is in the region of £43. ...have been a customer of telewest (yorkshire cable) now for about 5-6 years right from when I moved into my house. When the service was cable it was excellent, I rarely had any problems and never had to get an engineer out to sort it. Last year they sent people a card about the fact that 'digital' was coming and that if we filled in this card we wouldn't have to pay for installation, great I thought, something for nothing...lol. The initial installation left me with a few qualms - the front of my listed tenement sported one too many cables for my liking, but this seemed to be par for the course throughout the city. I have been with them for a number of years now nd so for no mishaps.until i decided to move.they decided to mess all 3 ccounts i hold with them then, first they decided to cancel dd set up because of new account numbers which ws ok, until they decided to set them up agaain on and account that had been claosed for 8 months and not used on the accounts for 6 months, we only find this out though when we recieve our first red bill. not for the phones ... I joined Telewest Active digital at the same time as I got my phone line (see review in the telecommunications section), about a year ago. I became adicted to American sitcoms and the Paramount comedy chanel and Sky One in particular. My parents had cable and that was what I really wanted. Disadvantages: Fewer channels than Sky Digital. Very limited interactive services. Occasional very poor picture quality. Set top boxes very slow to respond.

...as possible. The installation of my Telewest Digital TV service went very well. The engineer turned up when arranged on the phone and fitted the service with no problems. It was a clean install and he did not leave any mess in my house. I have the so-called Supreme channel package without any separate pay channels. Advantages: Fully Interactive.
Disadvantages: Without the weight that Sky can throw around, Telewest lags behind in some areas.

Telewest is a big company and that is good. I wouldn’t want to sign up to an expensive digital TV deal with a small fry local organisation in case everything went pear shaped. That said, Telewest is not (yet) the giant that BskyB is. Sky does have the head start on Telewest when it comes to Digital and, at a glance, their packages may look more comprehensive.
