It also won the French "Le Grand Prix des Lectrices de Elle" for fiction. ***THE STORY*** Childhood sweethearts Elizabeth and David Beck set off on a romantic 13th anniversary trip to Lake Charmaine. ...hope- and warn him to tell no one. But soon Dr Beck himself is being hunted down…’ Now I don’t know about you but when I read that, once I’d received my novel from e-bay, it really heightened my anticipation and expectations for this particular book. This really book does not hang around! It plunges you straight into the deep end of things. This reminds me almost of a movie in a way. He is the first author to win the Edgar, Shamus and Anthony Awards for literature and the New York Times has called his novels ‘ingenious’. I feel that this book undoubtedly attracts your attention from the very first page. We are given a little ...

Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies

Advantages: addictive read, great characters
Disadvantages: a bit stomach-turning and violent in parts

Dr David Beck and his wife Elizabeth were one of those nauseating couples that fell in love at age 12, spend the teenage years of lust with one another and then ended up married in their adult lives. Every year they go to the same place to celebrate their anniversary and to make another notch under their initials in the tree in front of which they shared their first kiss so many years ago. It's on their 13th anniversary that the harmony is suddenly ...

Eight years after the anniversary of Elizabeth's disappearance, Beck suddenly realises that he may never be able to move on - as he receives a mysterious email and an image of Elizabeth on his computer screen that make him run around New York City in a wild goose chase to capture this ghost. Let me tell you a bit about the story… Elizabeth and David Beck have been childhood sweethearts and are now happily married, about to celebrate their thirteenth year together as a couple and are heading out to Lake Chermaine where they will be able to mark another year of being together on their old special tree. But on their thirteenth visit horror awaits them at the Lake as Elizabeth is kidnapped, mutilated and murdered, and ...

== TELL NO ONE == === HARLAN COBEN === === INTRODUCTION === I was never really a big crime/thriller reader, but since discovering the works of Harlan Coben I have found myself somewhat addicted. The latest Coben book that I have read is "Tell No-one" it took me a day to gobble up the 346 pages, I just couldn't put it down. This is the best Coben book that I have read so far - superb. === THE AUTHOR === Harlan Coben is an American author of mystery ...

When David thinks he sees a woman who could only be his wife, his sister's partner, a close friend who's familiar with the world of advertising, tries to show David that he must be mistaken and demonstrates how the image of Elizabeth in the messages could have been done by technical means. My mum said it was violent but enjoyable

Advantages: light escapism, easy to read, keeps you guessing
Disadvantages: samey

...I'm new here, don’t ever tell me in future that you never get your money’s worth. She enjoyed it, but got quite into the swing of her ‘being a good mother’ role by trying to discourage me from reading it. She found it quite violent, and thought that it may be a bit too graphic for my sensitive eyes. I am only 20 after all. She found the violence it contained quite shocking, but admitted that she wouldn’t say it was gratuitous. ...
...with most readers. Tell No One is easy to read, and makes for a good light read for relaxation. First person style of writings can tend to make for a type of shallowness that offers more appeal to those who are looking for an easy, escapist read. It’s written in a modern style that uses all forms of modern living and lifestyles to good effect, for example through the use of email as the focal means of plot developments, so it is a book that ...

Advantages: Gripping, fast paced, well written

Tell no one By Harlan Coben Hi everybody, it's great to be writing reviews again, haven't done so for over a year. Lots of new faces and a new design. My first review offering is a fantastic new crime thriller (It's the first crime thriller I've read as I usually read the likes of Dean Konntz, Stephen King etc). If you don't want to know what happens in this book, do not read below the stars. This book will have you turning pages quicker than ...
...sucks the reader into the world of Dr. David Beck and his wife Elizabeth. The characterisation is beautiful and it’s hard to find a character that was bad. David beck himself grows as the story grows. Another four excellent characters of note were Shauna, David’s sister Linda’s girlfriend; Hester Crimstein defence lawyer; Wu (one of the bad guys); and Tyrese a drug pusher who helps David . All the characters played their role but these four stood ...

Tell No One is the last one I read and is the story of Dr David Beck and his wife Elizabeth who met and fell in love as kids, got married and return each anniversary to the tree where they shared their first kiss, to carve another notch on the tree. Advantages: Numerous twists and creative story line
Disadvantages: Couldnt put it down so i lost sleep

Harlan Coben is an original writer of this genre of novels. He is able to capture the suspense of the individual characters and keep the reader turning page after page. The first chapter begins with Dr David Beck and Elizabeth who are married and going on their annual trip to the tree where they kissed for the first time 13 years earlier. Here we are also informed about the two meet and how David fell in love with Liz at first sight. It is an interesting ...

But it did not disappoint, it was a fast paced thriller in which I could not put down. I read through the night my eyes tired and strained, but I could not put it down and had to keep reading. I actually forgot how much I enjoyed a good suspense novel till ...

Eight years after his wife Elizabeth is murdered, doctor David Beck's life is turned upside down when her image appears on his computer as a message from beyond the grave. I'm a huge fan of Coben's work (this is by far his best book), you really feel for Beck as he tries to discover if it was his wife on the screen or if somebody is playing a sick joke. Its a pacy thriller, with plenty of twists along the way as Beck discovers what really happened ...
