    Advantages Advantages Gives a different perspective of the Iron Age and Ancient Rome

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It covers 700 years of history so only skims the surface

    Many people will only know of Terry Jones as a comedy writer and one of the founding members of Monty Python who's probably best known for speaking the immortal lines "He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!" There is, however, a much more serious side to Terry Jones, certainly with regard to history and particularly of the Dark Ages and the Medieval period. Having read and enjoyed his book concerning the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Geoffrey Chaucer which was written in an erudite but very readable style, when I spotted another title of his in the library which ... more
