Not as hard as you think
Review of Terry Nappies by
Rainbow2911
Advantages: Cheap and very absorbant
Disadvantages: Need folding
...I bought were the Boots Terry nappies, which cost £9.50 for 5, and are available from most boots stores, as well as their website. I would say that you would need at least 4 packs, depending on how often you are prepared to wash! Various accessories are needed to go with them, some of which (e.g. disposable liners, nappy pins) are available from boots also.
Boots terry nappies are large squares of cotton towelling. They can be folded into a large ...

too traditional?
Review of Terry Nappies by
SarahJohnston_greenmums
Advantages: versatile, ecofriendly
Disadvantages: negative social stigma in inner cities
...Boots and Mothercare sold 12 terry squares for £12 (I got 2 packs), got 6 pins from boots for £3, and got some plastic pants from mothercare (about £3 for 5 i think at the time!).
Since her birth I have experimented with folds, nippas and even changed to a cotton bottoms wispa wrap with the terry folded as a pad.
If one thing has become clear with my experience of square terries is this:- they are so versatile!
Ok so I have to carry a few ...

More than just a Nappy.
Review of Terry Nappies by
vk-dream
Advantages: Multiple uses
Disadvantages: n/a
I know that Terry Nappies are of course supposed to be used as a Nappy but I'm afraid to say when my son was born I had absolutely no intention of using them, not when there was a easier and less smelly alternative in the disposable nappy.
When my son was born it was unfortunate that he suffered several problems and I'm afraid to say that colic was one of his more messy problems as whenever he moved wind he would vomit back a large quantity of ...

try terry nappies
Review of Terry Nappies by
kels
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
Terry nappies are enviromentaly friendly and cheaper than huggies or any other brand. When i was pregnant with my twin girls i made the choice to use terry nappies, i bought one dozen to start with which cost me £10.99, which is as much as one pack of disposable nappies, a nappy bucket (with a lid), some sterilising liquid nappy pins nappy liners and some waterproof pants, this all came to less than £20.00. At first it was a bit of a big job but as ...

Not just for bottoms!
Review of Terry Nappies by
anguk
Advantages: cost, better for the environment
Disadvantages: more time-consuming
I first used terry nappies over thirteen years ago when my son was born, the simple reason being that I thought that disposables were very expensive. Back then there was really only the branded disposables to choose from, very few shops had their own brands.
When I had my daughter six years ago I decided to give disposables a try but very quickly returned to terry's as my daughter always seemed to develop nappy rash with disposables.
Most ...

They're not terry's - they're my baby's
Review of Terry Nappies by
samanthani
Advantages: Cheap, environmentally friendly, better for bottoms
Disadvantages: Need to be organised with washing
I first tried terry nappy squares 14 years ago when I had my first son. For the first few weeks I used disposables, but then I switched to washable nappies - I just seemed to be throwing my money away, literally with disposable nappies. I invested in the best quality nappies, and along the way, have picked up quite a few more. Quite a few people tried to warn me off using washable nappies, telling me they were far too much trouble, but now, 4 babies ...

don't ask me, ask my boys.
Review of Terry Nappies by
kittenpants
Advantages: economical, ecological.
Disadvantages: less convenient, require a bit of work
...I have found that terry nappies are perfect for both my 2 year old and my newborn, and have enjoyed trying out different folds (like large-scale origami!)
They are easier to use than I was expecting, and I believe they have helped move the 2 year old along with his potty training - he has become more aware of his "functions". Yes, they are a bit more time-consuming than disposables, but with practice and a little organisation they become entirely ...

terry nappies, better for baby, cheaper for mum!
Review of Terry Nappies by
robsmum
Advantages: economical, environmentally friendly
Disadvantages: more laundry
...laughed at the idea of terry nappies as old fashioned smelly and time consuming...at least at first. When I began to run out of cash before the end of my maternity leave wonderful grandma bought me a pack of terry nappies from Boots and I have been a convert ever since.
The best waterproof covers I have found are Motherease, they are one size and so far no leaks. They cost about £7.50 each and have lasted for 3 children, you can get away with 3 as ...

Baby loves retro Terry
Review of Terry Nappies by
FrenchCancan
Advantages: Cheap, environment friendly, better for skin
Disadvantages: bulky, needs to be folded
...for the environment. 2-1
Disposing/washing. The Terry need to be put in a bucket with Tea tree oil - helps kill bacterias - and some aromatic oil - just smell nice, we use Eucalyptus - to await a wash. They wash very well on a 60C cycle, it might be better if you can select half load on your washing machine as you may not want to wash anything but the nappies and 8 new born Terrys are not that big. Also, we bought 16 of them and at the beginning ...

Terrys are back in fashion
Review of Terry Nappies by
acey
Advantages: they are cheap to use even if you take into account the cost of washing
Disadvantages: a bit complicated at first, but when you get the hang of them there great
...disposables and we changed to terry nappies. i will admit the first few nasppies leaked, but this was my fault. You need to try many different folds to find out what is the best for baby. i found that at night to use 2 or 3 booster pads especially when baby teething and sleeping trhough the night. with the plastic pants i got a size bigger asd the elastic is tight arond the legs and make sure that al;l the fabric from the nappy is tucked in as this ...

Back to basics with basic terry squares
Review of Terry Nappies by
EmmB
Advantages: Fast-drying, economical, one size just about fits all
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...looked back! I chose terry squares because quite frankly I found the array of nappies and nappy systems bewildering, and new that terries were the cheapest option. I bought three nappy nippas, and a set of wraps, fleece boosters and disposable liners which suits me just fine. I find that they are quick to dry (an important consideration if you haven't got or don't want to use a tumble dryer) - far more quick than shaped nappies which take an age because ...

Terry days
Review of Terry Nappies by
Black-Potion-Rose
Advantages: So useful and saves money
Disadvantages: When your out
...and white it never faild.
Go terry nappies!
I have been asked up update the review with more information.
I would like to add to what I read one the last few days in my own words.
for every £1 spent on 'disposables', it costs the taxpayer 10p to dispose of them! I read it cost £500,000 per annum on nappy disposal. Now thats alot of money being wasted. So by more poeple increasing the use of real nappies would decrease the costs of waste ...

No more pins Tommee Tippee nappy clamps orclips
Review of Terry Nappies by
AlisonLees
Advantages: no cut fingers, no worries, can be operated with one finger
Disadvantages: very hard to find get nagging your shop now
I don't want to write about terries, but about one problem with terries. Terries are fantastic, but Mothercare and Boots only seem to sell nappy pins. My husband was very scared that he would prick the baby, and after a few pricked fingers, I wasn't very keen either.
Then we found nappy clamps, or they might be called nappy clips. You slide a slide, open the clip, clamp the nappy and secure the clip with the slide again. Simple, and can be used in ...
