A Great 'DEAL' On A Credit Card

Advantages: Clubcard points
Disadvantages: Interest rate which kicks in if you don't pay the full balance monthly

I chose a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card for the loyalty bonus it offers (below). I know most people understand how credit cards work, but I have many university educated, generally smart friends who have no idea, so humour me a little. ** The Basics ** The Tesco Clubcard Credit Card can be used to make purchases and withdraw cash all over the world. It comes with an interest free period of up to 46 days (depending on when in your payment-statement ...
...card is easy - because Tesco doesn't have physical bank branches you can do it online or over the phone. In both cases you still need to sign a form and return it to them, but they post this out to you with a prepaid envelope so it is very easy. After that you're good to go. Now comes the important stuff: ** The Loyalty Bonus ** My sole reason for switching credit cards was to get a card that gave me something back. Because I pay off my account ...

Every Little Helps (And Little Help Is What I Got)

Advantages: Earn a few extra clubcard points
Disadvantages: Poor administration, Given little time to pay, Misleading information on how many points you'll earn

...I decide to choose the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card? My decision was influenced by a number of factors: 1) As I had just started my first "career job" after leaving university, I was on a relatively low income, so would not qualify for most cards that require a minimum income level (which rules out any gold, platinum or black cards). 2) According to financial advice site Motley Fool, the most important question you should ask yourself when choosing ...
...into Nectar points) and the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card (which unsurprisingly gives you Clubcard points). I choose the Tesco card for the simple reasons that VISA is more widely accepted than AMEX, and I use the Clubcard scheme more widely and consistently than I do Nectar. This card fitted my needs very well, having only low level restrictions on who could apply (you are required to be a UK resident and earning just £5,000 a year), in paying out ...

Come on Tesco! Give me Points!

Advantages: Great way to collect Clubcard points, excellent anti-fraud security, interest free periods
Disadvantages: Making payments can take 4 or more working days

...them is the newly launched Tesco Clubcard credit card. Tesco have actually recently launched two brand new credit cards: the Bonus credit card, which pays you interest back every year, and the Clubcard credit card, which is the one I shall be reviewing today. WHAT IT OFFERS Like most - if not all - credit cards nowadays, the Clubcard offers an interest free period and, in my opinion, it is a very good one at that! The 0% rate on purchases and balance ...
...credit card rewards you with Tesco Clubcard points every time you use it - whether that be in Tesco or not. You get 5 points for every £4 you spend at a Tesco store or at Tesco.com, and 1 point for every £4 you spend everywhere else. You also get points if you pay by cash at Tesco, but just make sure you show your card at the till! The card is quite clever because it works as a credit card and Clubcard combined. You don't need an existing Clubcard ...

Advantages: Cheap, quick, helpful, most people are eligible
Disadvantages: I missed the new deals

...went looking for an alternative. Tesco seemed to be the most probable company to accept me, I filled all the criteria plus the rate was fairly low. So I applied. The Application Process The application process was excellent and I was aware of what was going on at all times. A few days after sending off my application I received a letter confirming their receipt of it. I thought this was a great idea as with all applications of a financial nature ...
...the terms and conditions of Tesco credit cards arrived in the post a few days later. The Card The card arrived about ten days after my confirmation letter with a whopping limit of £2,500. I thought this was rather a lot considering it was my first card and my income wasn't that great. The card was purple with a raindrop affect on it, as I had chosen on my original application. It had a large mastercard symbol on the front, as well as the Tesco Finance ...

...diehard Sainsbury's shopper to a Tesco shopper and have never looked back. In order to make the most of the Tesco loyalty clubcard and really boost my points I thought I would change my credit card. ****Signing up**** Applying for this card is a very quick and easy process that can be done online via Tesco Finance.Com. ...response of "we don't take Tesco clubcards here" as I handed the card over. My standard response of "it's a credit card" quickly turned in to sarcasm that, I regret to say, were almost to the point of rudeness. Whilst a Mastercard that looked like a clubcard was a talking point at many cash tills it soon got tiresome. Another thing I found was that I sometimes handed the cashiers my actual clubcard (after all I do carry a club card as well) which ...

Tesco - Excellent online fraud protection

Advantages: Clubcard points and excellent fraud protection
Disadvantages: None if you clear you balance in full every month

The Tesco Credit Card is an excellent way to top up your club card points for Tesco. They offer extra points when you use the card in Tesco or on Tesco online and points when you use your card anywhere else. It is a Visa credit card through the RBS group which includes the Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest Bank and the Ulster Bank. They are currently offering 0% interest for 13 months on balance transfers and Tesco purchases and for 3 months on all ...

The Tesco Credit Card.............. It was just over half a year ago now that I decided to transfer my outstanding credit card balance on to a new Tesco Bonus Credit Card. Tesco Credit Card - Every Little Helps

...cards I decided on the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card. Where I live the only supermarket in town is Tesco and the closest petrol station is at the Tesco supermarket. This means that I do all of my grocery shopping and get my fuel from Tesco's. The extra Tesco points I have received from the card is definitely noticeable when the vouchers come each quarter, so if you shop at Tesco and want to earn a few more points then I would recommend this card. If you do not use Tesco then a cash back card would probably suit you better. Its all about what you are trying to achieve with your credit card at the end of the day. Tesco credit cards - updated

Advantages: Clubcard points, good interest free deals
Disadvantages: Internet banking facility extremely limited

I've had a Tesco credit card for around a year now. I have to say I have not found it to be the best financial relationship I've ever had. I originally chose the card because you get a clubcard point for every £2 spent. As I buy my groceries at Tesco, and 1 point equals 1 penny in vouchers, this equates to 0.5% cashback. At the time, they had a 0% deal on balance transfers and purchases for 5 months, so I transferred the balance from my HSBC card ...
...I've encountered several difficulties with Tesco Finance. 1. Their network seems to be down quite often - quite regularly my card will be rejected, even though I have not exceeded any limits etc. I have queried this with them and they deny there is any problem. I have to say I have not had the problem within the last month or so, so they may have rectified it. -update- this has not happened again, so I assume they have sorted it out permanently. ...

The best credit card around!

Advantages: points
Disadvantages: if you dont pay it off

...for me. As an avid Tesco fan i trade my points in for deals tokens and enjoy a treat every year. Incentives ------------- 1 point for every £1 spent in Tesco. 1 point for every £4 spent elsewhere. All in all I would say this is an excellent card and worth taking on, just for the points alone. They soon mount up and you are sent vouchers for them at approximately 3 to 4 month intervals. I quite often forget about them and put them away - when I do remember, it's a nice surprise that I have the equivalent ...

Tescos credit card, is it in our intrests?

Advantages: Collect points on shopping
Disadvantages: none

I've always been fasinated by this credit card that is offered by Tescos. It acts like a normal regular credit card with its competitive APR, standard monthly statements and of course the small print of the lowest intrest balances on the card is paid first so that as a normal credit card provider can get as much intrest off of you as possible with the highest intrest charging balances being paid off last. But with its specail deals and if paid off ...
...is your extra clubcard that really does earn you points wherever you spend your money. The benifits of this card outside of Tescos are of the 1 point per £2 spent on your card ANYWHERE! Now we all know that tescos vouchers are like gold, exspecailly when used in one of thier "deals", and so to be having the ability to use this card on your every day exspenses, pay it off and earn points on spending no extra money is something of a dream come true. ...

Terrible Customer Service

Advantages: You get Tesco Club Card points
Disadvantages: Spend a fortune trying to sort anything out and get very frustrated

...that the customer service for Tesco Visa Card is absolutely dreadful. I had a Tesco Visa Card in the Uk and Ireland and have had a nightmare trying to close them. I had a card in the UK that I thought had been closed 3 years ago and I never used then was told I had to pay 40 government stamp duty as I live in Ireland - I phoned and was passed from person to person before being told if I had phoned 2 days earlier to close the account I wouldnt have ...

Then another statement with another 40.00 government stamp duty more phonecalls on the phone from Ireland for half an hour before being told the other customer service agent gave me the wrong information and had to pay another 40.00 as the other one was from last year an this was this year - paid it and closed the account - with all the problems I had I decided to close the irish account also - I had already paid the stamp duty ...

Tesco call centre dreadful

Advantages: 12 month interest free balance transfer - still have to pay 2%, of course
Disadvantages: Service over the phone. Inaccurate and no redress.

The call centres are dreadful. Firstly they told me inaccurate info about the 0% interest period, which made me call back to check. Trying to get through to either the Southend, or the Manchester centre is a pure lottery and if you wait to get through, find you are in the wrong centre, the only way to get to the one you want is to ring off and try again!!! What??? Secondly and more worryingly, they told me that they couldn't increase my credit limit ...
...make, because their limits are set by the FSA. Of course this is complete rubbish, but they would not write me an explanatory letter saying why their member of staff made these errors. I've informed the FSA that they are saying this to customers. The 12 month 0% balance transfer rate attracted me, but the service has nullified that. Go somewhere else, would be my advice. ...
