Tesco - the good, the bad and the ugly!

Advantages: They do respond to complaints
Disadvantages: They don't always make the necessary improvements

I have always admired Tesco - they have a very good range and they do it well. I have always felt that they followed the market closely and responded well to what customers wanted. Sadly, more recently I feel they have started to miss the point and I find that increasingly I am becoming dissatisfied with my shopping experience when I go there. I am a regular Tesco shopper, my preferred time to go for my weekly shop is bright and early (about 8.00am) ...
...still buy large tins of Tesco beans in the store - I don't think I will - personally I prefer to be given a choice about products and nothing will make me buy Tesco beans in preference to Heinz - I will simply go elsewhere. The following week I was appalled at the state of the citrus fruit - the grapefruit were a disgrace - there was mouldy and discoloured fruit on display and some of the fruit was very dried up. There were mouldy oranges in the ...

tesco grocery site not customer friendly

Advantages: the experience of knowing how tesco online staff are trained
Disadvantages: the experience of knowing how tesco online staff are trained

Tesco website NOT customer friendly. in my opinion as I wasted two hours of my life. I decided that I would try grocery home delivery service through Tesco. I am not a web novice so I was pretty confident that I can take in most of the details on display and could work out the format used by tesco. I found the Help page which had numerous headings and many links to query pages - I checked a few which I thought would be relevant. I did not systematiclly ...
...!!!!!! I phoned up tesco help line - before I had said a complete sentance a man with a thick (english ) accent responded by saying " calm down madam " .I have a quiet audible voice which tends to become even calmer when faced with problems so my reponse to this person consisted of one more civil short sentence For those over a certain age you will know, to say that particular sentence to a female is the equivalent to saying "shoot me now" !! very rude customer service at cleckheaton store

Advantages: no advantages of tesco customer service at cleckheaton and batley branch
Disadvantages: many people are wanting employment and tesco staff should be made to be polite

...always do my shopping at tesco but recently have found the customer service to be very rude and not helpful at all. infact they are downright nasty and i have been embarassed and made to feel very foolish for the 3rd time in a matter of a few months. if the staff (customer services) feel that it is a acceptable to treat customers this way then i can see customers going elsewhere to do their shopping. i for one will not be going to tesco again. 1st ...

Every little helps not

Advantages: close to home
Disadvantages: appalling cutomer service

...at the Macclesfield Hibel Road Tesco one night as I left the store. The reason was I had parked in a disabled spot without a badge.Granted he wasnt to know that I was on 7 medications and had constant hip pain and find it hard to get out of my car unless the door is really wide, but it was 9.40pm and he would not stop shouting over the top of me as I tried to explain this to him and so I got in my car and drove off. A couple of weeks later, having ...

So rude, piece of sh*t

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: impolite, rude

I phoned tesco to change my address. An Indian guy answered my phone as if I distubed him. When I told him my new address, he couldn't get it so I had to say it several times again and again. And what he replied was not just 'Pardon?' or 'Sorry?'. He barked simply, "Wa?"(not even 'What', maybe it was too demanding for him.) The voice clearly indicated he was annoyed by something. Why? It was me who almost lost patience. Anyway, it's pity such a ...
...impolite individual who doesn't know how to answer a phone call from customers. There are thousands of people who want to get a job who can speak and listen to proper English. Why should this company employ a person who can't cope this kind of very basic skill? The guy should make an effort at least.. even if the job is too challenging for him. ...

...DVD 9/4/02 at £99.49 from Tesco local store. Reasons for purchase:- 1) Recommended by a relative 2) Wanted to up date our existing DVD 3) The colour came in a silver finish which matched out TV 4) This DVD player was able to play multi region DVD’s and not all players will (i.e. if you purchase an imported DVD for example from cdwow.com they will play on this machine) – worth checking out can save money on films…….. 5) The price at under £100 ...

We noticed March 2003 that it started to jump and slow down while watching films. My husband rang to report on 10/3/03 thinking it would be a lengthy process sending back to repair, having to take back to shop and collect it etc etc. We were presently surprised by the result:- They agreed to send a replacement direct in the next ...

Every Little Helps??

Advantages: Local stores services aren't all that bad
Disadvantages: Head office have little to no concern for company policy

Right, let's get cracking. Tesco is perhaps the most well-known supermarket in the UK, boasting competitive prices and their famous "every little helps" line. Last year they were reported as having the highest market share of all UK supermarkets, and record sales of about £3 billion (I think). Heck, even I have worked there (up until November 2004), so it's not half bad. Today, I am writing a review on their head offices' customer service from the ...
...normally shops in our local Tesco (Rickmansworth, where I used to work), but on this occasion, she took her smashing mother to "Hoover" Tesco (this can be found on the A40 on the way into London). It was a Friday, and she bought a joint of beef for a roast dinner/family gathering on Sunday, from the meat aisle no less. Unfortunately, it was later discovered by my father (on Sunday morning), that the beef's use by date was in fact the same as the ...

Tesco customer experience POOR

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Poor management and customer care

...not bother. In my local Tesco Metro, you have to queue up for half an hour on a Saturday to get lottery, cigarettes. There are only 2 tills available (used to be 4) and you can have up to 3 items of shopping. Most of the time only one person serving as the other is dealing with customer services desk. Managers are just strolling around chatting and not giving a damn about the customers. Today I queued for 28 minutes, and 1 poor girl serving. The ...

Don't deliver. Don't inform you.

Advantages: on 3rd time of calling customer services were very apologetic and gave e-voucher
Disadvantages: Still no Tesco groceries. Huge amounts of wasted time. Stress.

Tesco Online for Delivery should have been 9-11pm yesterday (10/2/09), the order hadn't arrived by 11.30 but the Tesco customer service line was closed at 11.00pm - why doesn't the line stay open until all groceries should have been delivered? This morning I called about the order and was cut off twice! Finally (after 45 minutes) when I did get through the earliest they could deliver was 2 days after original failed date. I understand that SNOW might ...
...never had a delivery from Tesco where they have delivered everything exactly as requested in the order without substitutions or missing items. Update: After another session to the customer service department this evening to make sure the order had been cancelled (as I've since been to Co-Op to buy the groceries) I spoke to a very helpful person in customer service and have been given an e-voucher to try the Online Delivery again in the future. customer service? What customer service?

Advantages: it used to be very good...
Disadvantages: awful customer service if you get problems with your order!

...many times last year from Tesco online shopping and never had a single problem. Everything was brilliant. I moved away and decided recently to start shopping again on line. The morning when my first delivery -2 days after my order- was due, a person from the store called me and said I wouldn't be delivered because my debit card had been declined. My card was fine and I had money on my account etc. so I assumed I had entered the wrong card number ...

Beside the poor service, nobody at the helpline was able to tell me when I could be delivered again though I had to give my debit card number again over the phone(!). They were supposed to keep me informed but it just finished here and I finally gave up asking myself "well well well I'd better go straight ...

Very impressed-Tesco customer service succeeded where Sony failed

Advantages: Very fast resolution, over and above what I was expecting.
Disadvantages: None

...Sony VAIO laptop from a Tesco store in January for approximately £360. It was the ex-display / demonstration model. I was assured at the time of purchase that this would not affect the warranty. Some months later the "P" key fell off. I contacted Sony and they said the warranty was invalid because it was the ex-display model. They quoted me £230 to fix the broken P key. I contacted Tesco customer services on the phone and they said that, despite ...

Quick review of Tesco Customer Service

I am reviewing Tesco's disabled parking policy. I am disabled with a disabled badge and cannot find a parking space when I visit the Tesco store in Prescot. It's full of able bodied people. I have complained to your Head Office. Your company makes millions but you treat your customers with utter contempt. I have made a complaint to our local radio station. PS I spend £150 a week in your store. ...

Quick review of Tesco Customer Service

Purchased a big bunch of Tulips last Monday which had been reduced from £10 down to £3 from Tesco in Aylesbury. It wasn't until today when I was clearing my purse out and looked at the receipt that I noticed I had been charged the full £10. So on my way home from work one week later (today) went back to the same store and was told that I should have kept the reduced sticker. I was also informed (in an almost smug way that this is their 'Policy') Even if I have it, it will be somewhere in the bottom of the bin. I came home and wanted to phone a Customer Service Person who I could complain to and the only telephone number that I could find was an automated one and as the topics didn't quite match what I wanted the phone message asked me to stay on line. Someone came to the phone and without even saying hello put the phone down and cut me off - this happened twice!!!! What should I do now? I actually feel like giving them my complete bin tomorrow but I don't think it would fit in my car. ...

Tesco Direct - 'delivery' charges

Advantages: Ok for those with more money than sense
Disadvantages: cheaper to use Argos

Tesco Direct Charges I am aggrieved by the marketing of items in the 'Tesco Extra' catalogue. On attempting to place an order in-store (Hertford), I was told that there is a 'delivery' charge of £5 for items under £25. (my item was £24.95). When I mentioned that I was to collect the item in-store, and it was not for home delivery, I was informed that the charge was for "delivery to the store", which could be avoided by "spending a few pence extra ...
