Advantages Advantages Easy to swallow, sucrose coated ibuprofen caplets, effective in pain relief at a reasonable price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Many contra-indications for taking ibuprofen, but nothing that’s specific to this product.

~~Why This Product?~~ I guess most of us have need of painkilling medication from time to time. Certainly we always have some in stock in our household, and particularly over the winter months when illness seems more prevalent. My other half will not contemplate anything but a branded name. I’m not inclined to argue with him about it, as he has one of these horrible auto-immune conditions that may or may not go away on its own sometime soon, but causes a variety of unpleasant symptoms from time to time. For myself, however, I’m not fussy and buy supermarket products as a rule. Tesco is our ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages May not suit everyone.

Review of Tesco Ibuprofen Caplets. **The Product** Ibuprofen is a Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drug, known as a NSAID, widely used as an 'over the counter' painkiller. Ibuprofen works by changing the body's response to pain, swelling and high temperature, making it useful for the relief of headaches, Rheumatic and muscular pain, migraine, dental pain, period pain, feverishness and for the relief of the symptoms associated with colds and 'flu. Tesco Ibuprofen is presented in a recyclable cardboard box, this is slightly different to the one depicted here. I think Tesco have had a packaging re ... more

Advantages Advantages Price, Easy to take, Effective

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none for me!

As an avid reader and someone who spends far too much time on a daily basis looking at a computer screen I am prone to the odd headache or the occasional serious migraine attack and always advocated the purchase of Nurofen or Panadol. Figuring that the more I spent on pain relief the quicker the tablets would be in ridding me of the pain and discomfort I always made sure that our medicine drawer at home had a healthy supply of painkilling tablets in. Whilst Panadol and Nurofen are undeniably excellent in relieving headache symptoms when I looked at the active ingredients on the box they all ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast- acting, much cheaper than premium brands, easy to swallow

Disadvantages Disadvantages Restrictions on how many dosage, not suitable for use during pregnancy

By rights, I shouldn't be writing this review now, judging by the way I was feeling just a couple of hours ago. The back of my throat was throbbing with a horrible dull aching sensation, my head was banging and my left ear felt as though my whole head has been shaken about and everything inside is trying to force its way through! Yet somehow, I have managed to stagger through the school run, feed and bath three kids and get them all settled into bed without collapsing in a heap on the floor. My secret? Two tiny little Ibuprofen caplets, slipped down the back of my throat with a small glass of ... more

Advantages Advantages Good pain relief, easy to swallow, cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Blister pack backing is too strong

I generally do all of my medicine shopping alongside any grocery shopping I am doing as the cheap brands generally are as good as the named brands but are far cheaper. When buying ibuprofen, my choice is usually only between Tesco's capsules or Tesco's tablets. The price is almost identical, you get the exact same amount, you take them the same way and they have the same effect. The only difference is whether you prefer tablets or capsules. I actually do prefer these capsules however I am really not bothered about having the tablets either, I find the capsules far easier to swallow as they ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Take all my pain away for 28p!

Disadvantages Disadvantages None I can find!

With four of us in our house it’s pretty easy to see why we get through a fair amount of painkillers, especially just recently – with 1 of us with a muscle damaged ankle and one with a swollen elbow joint, and me with my regular headaches! It’s getting a bit daft really since we’re all going for pain killers two or three times a day – so buying Nurofen or any other branded pain killers, was beginning to get a bit expensive, so we decided to go for cheaper options! Ibuprofen Ibuprofen is a NSAID, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug – which can be used for any range of pains from dental, to ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, fast working, taste nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not suitable for everyone

I suffer from head aches quite regularly and often (whether advisable or not) turn to ibuprofen or paracetemol to alleviate the pain. With over the counter medicine becoming more and more expensive, I looked for a cheaper option and found these Tesco Ibuprofen 200mg caplets. At first I was a bit dubious that anything costing not much more than 30p for 16 caplets would do anything at all, but at such a low price I decided that I wouldn't be losing anything (well not much anyway!) to give it a try. As with many pain relieving medications, the packet advises that adults, the elderly and children ... more

Advantages Advantages Great pain relief for such a tiny cost

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I have suffered with twisted and swollen ankles quite regularly over the last ten years or so, which have generally been occuring since the days when I used to play football, and often ended up with bad ankles, which eventually caused me to give up the game completely. Nowadays, it doesn't take much for me to have a big red, sore, swollen ankle, even from something simple such as a few miles walking, or a gentle game of squash, and each time they present themselves it means at least a full day of painful hobbling about for me. This is something that just seems to crop up every few months, but ... more

Tesco Ibuprofen Caplets My medicine cupboard is always overflowing but it seems to get re-stocked on a fairly regularly basis as the items I buy I generally use up fairly quickly. The first sign of any ache or pain, I reach for some pills! The Tesco Ibuprofen Caplets are a great cupboard essential as for a box containing two sheets of 16 Caplets you pay only 32 pence! This works out at 2 pence per tablet and when comparing it to the branded Ibuprofen works out at a total bargain! The great thing about Ibuprofen tablets in general is that you can take them alongside taking paracetamol ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, and exactly the same as every other brand of ibuprofen.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tesco won't let you buy more than 2 packets at one time.

I am a regular user of painkillers. I have fibromyalgia, and I'm allergic to codeine meaning that unless I want to start moving up the ranks to something stronger, I have little option but to use ibuprofen and paracetamol on a regular basis. Actually, (with doc's approval of course! - never do this without talking to your doctor first and NEVER take ibuprofen at the same time as Asprin), I often use them in combination to combat break through headaches which I get despite being on betablockers to control them - the headaches not the doctors...oh for a tablet that controls doctors... ahem... I ... more
