Advantages Advantages Easy to swallow, cheap, Tesco is almost everywhere if I need more!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

The product These are white caplets that contain 500mg of Paracetamol and are made to be easier to swallow than the standard tablets. This is the main reason that I purchase these, because I have difficulty swallowing tablets sometimes and then I find myself worrying about being able to swallow them properly and that usually just puts me off bothering and then I feel dreadful for longer. The packaging Like most tablets or caplets these come in a cardboard box. The box contains all the usual information and there is a leaflet advising about side effects, reasons you may not be able to take ... more

Advantages Advantages Very cheap, do the job for minor pains, suitable for diabetics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not strong enough for more severe pain, very dangerous at even relatively modest overdose levels

Being diabetic brings with it a number of niggly little problems, one of which is that you're not really supposed to take ibuprofen, at least not without a specific go-ahead from your doctor; one reason for that is that it can cause problems with kidney function, and diabetics are susceptible to kidney disease than most people in the first place. That's a bit of a pain, since before I was diagnosed ibuprofen was the over-the-counter painkiller I found the most effective. However, there's no point in crying over spilt, er, ibuprofen and so paracetamol has now become my stand-by painkiller. To ... more

Advantages Advantages Reasonable amount per pack, very cheap, effective

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Background: Due to numerous health issues and generally being a really unlucky clumsy person I often end up in moderate to severe pain and need a solution as its unlikely that the causes are going to dampen anytime soon. I tend to use stronger dose painkillers as often the pain is on the more severe end of the spectrum however when it is more mild, I don't like to use very strong ones as I worry about inflicting so much on my body. As a result I buy paracetamol and we always tend to have a few boxes and varieties about the house. When I was younger my Mum tended to have name brand varieties ... more

Advantages Advantages Works on pain, very cheap, easy to swallow

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

You can always guarantee when you've got a headache or other aches and pains, you'll go to the cupboard where the paracetamol is kept and find you have none left. For this reason, I usually throw some in the trolley when I know we're running low, and the main thing that drew me to the Tesco brand is the price. =Price= These caplets are 19 pence for 16 caplets. Now I'm no mathematician (although I do work in finance I should add!) but this works out at just over a penny each. This is excellent value in comparison to the branded products where you would pay, for example, £1.36 for 16 Anadin ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I don't use painkillers often as I like to try to avoid medication unless it is really necessary, however now and again I will get a horrible headache. When I get such a headache I usually take some paracetamol to relieve this. I keep a box of Tesco Paracetamol Caplets in my cupboard for when such times arise. These tablets can be purchased at most Tesco stores for the bargain price of 19p for 16 caplets, working out at just over 1p per caplet. Each caplet contains 500mg and the recommended dose for adults is 1-2 caplets. These can be used to relieve most types of pain - headaches, toothache ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to swallow, work well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not particularly fast acting and no good for more serious pain

I do most of my shopping in Tesco, so it stands to reason that the majority of Paracetamol tablets I consume are from their brand - I refuse to pay big money for Paracetamol so tend to buy a cheap box from whatever supermarket I happen to be in at the time. The last time I bought these they were 22p for a box of sixteen caplets, although please don't quote me on this as the price fluctuates from week to week so you might find them slightly cheaper or slightly more expensive when you come to buy a box. They are caplets, which basically means they are a long thin torpedo shape instead of being a ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages not as effective for me as other painkillers

My pain relief of choice is usually Ibuprofen but you are unable to take this whilst pregnant so, during this time, I had to revert to paracetamol for an aches or pains I had (including early labour pains!). I opt for supermarket own brands of painkiller as I usually find them just as effective as the branded varieties at a fraction of the price. Tesco Paracetamol Caplets were certainly in keeping with the latter as they cost just 19p for a packet of 16 caplets – just over 1p a caplet! The cardboard packaging is simple, a blue cardboard box with product labelling and a picture of two of the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great value & work well...

Disadvantages Disadvantages They don't cope with more severe pain.

I have several health problems and suffer from pain every day. I regularly use prescribed painkillers, but as these tend to make me feel drowsy and horrible, I will try other alternatives first - usually paracetamol - to try and ward off any pain as much as possible. This doesn't always work though, due to the levels of pain I suffer from and sometimes I do need to give in and take the prescribed medication instead. This actually happens more often that not. In addition to this though, my doctors have told me that a combination of two painkillers is more effective than taking just my ... more

Since you can only buy two paracetamol products in one trip to the shop, I decided to buy one pack of Tesco’s paracetamol tablets, and one of these caplets. Information The dosage for Tesco’s paracetamol caplets is the same as most other paracetamol products, for anyone over the age of 12 years take one or two tablets every 4 hours but no more than eight tablets in a 24 hours period. The caplets currently cost 19p for 16 and available from Tesco stores. My experience These Tesco paracetamol caplets come in exactly the same box as the tablets, the only difference is the picture on the box. The ... more

Advantages Advantages effective for most types of pain relief

Disadvantages Disadvantages not so good for heavy colds, easy to take too much

One of the things that I always keep in my purse is a box of paracetamol. You never know when you’ll get caught out by a headache or the dreaded period pains. For a number of years now my painkiller of choice has been Tesco paracetamol, which I was drawn to initially because of the price-just 19p gets you a box containing 16 tablets! The tablets can be found in the medicine aisle of all Tesco stores. The paracetamol comes in two forms – either as round tablets or as caplets. Despite being in my 30’s now I still have trouble swallowing round tablets! On the one occasion I did buy these I found ... more
