Advantages Advantages Good price and plenty of deals to get you interested

Disadvantages Disadvantages Policy at times can be misleading

This review is for Tesco Pet Insurance. Setting up The Insurance First off all you need to know what pet you’re going to be insuring. You might assume that just dogs and cats are available on this insurance and you would be right from my own experience I have only ever seen dogs and cats insurance available. You begin by either going to their website and finding out how much it would cost or you can do it via the telephone but I have found it much easier to do via the internet in my own time. You begin by filling out details about yourself which is obviously standard and you then fill out ... more

I recently signed up for Tesco Pet Insurance for my little Tigger (adorable little moggy or a domesticated shorthaired cat according to my insurance policy) and wanted to share this with you. Its cheap, quick, easy, affordable and so quick it’s unbelievable. I clicked on Google for pet insurance and found a site that compared pet insurance packages – Tescos came out a few pence cheaper so I clicked on the Tesco web site (www.tesco.com) where you click on the insurance icon and then pet insurance (as opposed to car, house, travel etc.) This site is easy to navigate and they don’t ask you any ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap and Save's a Fortune

Disadvantages Disadvantages Have to Pay Out Initially.

For those who now know me on Ciao you will know that I am a house husband with 5 Children and 3 Cat's and when you mix the two occasionally there are accident's. Just the other day my 2 year old accidentally trod on one of the kitten's paw's and because the poor thing was limping we rushed her off to the Vets to get her checked out. At first I was really worried but as soon as the Vet took the kitten's temperature rectal she jumped up forgot about her paw and was fine amazing what a short sharp shock can do lol. Then came the nasty bit because we were so worried we had taken her to the Vets at ... more

When we bring a pet into our homes, we undertake a responsibility to that animal. To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health. OK, so we are not marrying our pet, but we undertake the responsibility to care for that animal until the day it passes away. To care for it, groom it, play with it, feed it, and of course to comfort it in sickness and to see that it is given treatment if needed. In the early eighties, I used to own a beautiful cat. He was a silvery-grey long haired cat. We lived at the time near some fields, and one day he came home with half of his back leg missing. He had ... more

    Advantages Advantages Monthly instalments

Disadvantages Disadvantages they do not cover older pets.

On my trip to Tesco this week they shoved a load of leaflets in my hand and one in particular caught my eye, The Tesco Pet Insurance. Now I have 3 cats and 4 dogs and used to have them insured but when things got tough we had to cancel, We did this but felt naked as they had always been covered even though we had never claimed on it. The leaflet --------------- The Tesco Pet Insurance is a 3 folded piece of paper and on the front it half in red and half in white. It states if you do it on line you get 5% off. In large white writing it states it is the Pet Insurance and has a picture of a brown ... more

Ok I have 2 cats and have a history of owning cats. None of them were ever insured. I used to think that if my parents didn't insure our pets then I don't need to insure mine now I'm older...after all my parents are, I assumed, great with money. My attitude changed a year ago when friend of mine experienced a tradegy with her cat. Her cat developed a illness, can't for the life of me remember what it was, which had a sudden onset and resulted in death within weeks. What made her loss worse was the vet bills she had. In my naiivety I didn't realise that ir can cost you to have a pet put down at ... more

Advantages Advantages Very cheap compared to other providers

Disadvantages Disadvantages None I've encountered so far

About this time last year, I 'adopted' 2 rescue dogs called Nellie and Boswell. They are old english mastiffs, so not only were they enormous, but this is one of the 'premium' breeds on most policies, hence not cheap to insure. Obviously, when purchasing insurance, it is important to make sure that cover is not compromised by taking a cheaper option, for example, higher excess, lower amounts of cover and so on, therefore it is critical to read the small print carefully. The two alternatives I was considering were Pet Plan (available from Pets at home etc.) and Petcare (offered by a local vet) ... more

Advantages Advantages Sometimes cheaper than other pet insurers

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only pays for 12 months on any condition

When I bought my first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel I decided that I should buy pet insurance. I tried various insurers and finally bought the insurance from Tesco because, at that time, they were the cheapest and not knowing anything about pet insurance, didn't know any better! When my CKCS took ill I put in a claim. Tesco were very good and paid out the claim promptly. Then my dog had "dry eyes" and, again, Tesco paid out the claim each time I submitted it. It was only in the later stages that I realised they would only pay out on the claim for 12 months. Consequently, when the 12 months ... more

well the only reason I ended up getting pet insurance was because my brother stood on my cat and she got cystitis because of it and it was a pain trailing an hour on the bus to take her so I looked and found Tesco was the best offer at the time well I was so glad I took insurance out as 5 week ago she got run over outside my house while we were out and was taken to the local emergency vets and it turned out she had broke her pelvis. She was in the vets for nearly a week had to have a metal plate put in her pelvis and part of her leg removed at the top but he was so worried she would not start ... more

We use other financial products from Tesco, and have always found them very competitive and easy to deal with. Their website is easy to navigate, and the online application form for pet insurance only takes 5-10 minutes to complete. It's very straightforward. We had 2 cats insured with Tesco originally, which cost £8 per month (we pay in 12 monthly instalments by direct debit). Sadly one of our cats became ill with polycystic kidneys, and died quite quickly from renal failure. When we made the claim, it was very simple to do, and the person I spoke to at the call centre was extremely helpful ... more
