Advantages: Great value for money. Disadvantages: Only the larger Tesco stores stock them.
...near one of the largest Tesco stores, and went there yesterday to do our grocery shopping, but also had a look round the toy section for Christmas presents.
They had the sort of presents you could find on line, as mentioned above, but also a wide variety of other toys for all ages.
Because of the time of day we went, there were lots of mums with pre-school children, whose children were showing a great deal of interest in the very reasonably priced ... ...could only have one if Tesco restocked in time, because this frog was bought for a specific young person. As the child is not especially expecting a frog, I will buy the child a duck, if the frogs prove difficult to get hold of and give the frog to the adult, to rivvit around in his bath, provided he behaves well. I wish all the people on my Christmas present list could be so cheaply pleased! These state that they are suitable from 6 months onwards, ...

Advantages: Unbeatable Prices, Bright Colours, Strong Designs Disadvantages: Limited Ranges in Each Age Group, Quickly Adds Up
Tesco make and stock various different toys and games aimed at everyone from newborns to families. There are some holes in their ranges still (for example older children and teenagers) but they appear to be in the process of extending their ranges to fill in this gap by including such products as craft kits (eg Crystal Growing, Paper FX and Make a Teddy) and electronic gadgets (eg Data Max and Pixel Chix Mall). Tesco seem determined to gain monopoly ... ...far as I'm concerned. Tesco have cleverly employed the "97p technique" in a thinly-veiled attempt to make us believe their prices are cheaper than elsewhere. After all, everywhere else charges us the full 99p do they not? Pricing items at 99p instead of the nearest pound is popularly regarded as one of the most shrewd marketing ploys of all time so it doesn't surprise me that Tesco have chosen to price most of their toys at something pounds 47p or ...

Advantages: great value - larger stores constantly bringing down prices to compete Disadvantages: smaller stores only have limited selection
...craft idea as well and Tesco has been good at providing me with ideas. We found that looking at prices from other supermarkets such as Asda that they were very competative and as the weeks drew closer to Christmas prices were dropped almost daily in some cases sometimes only by a few pence at a time but Trivial Pursuit 20th Anniversary Edition ended up costing us £25.99 when it had started out at around £30. This was just one of many games that were ... ...everywhere - but never fear Tesco toy department has it all, again at good prices and with a selection to at least be on a par with the likes of Woolworths who seem to lack the same selection these days. From soft toys and dolls to jigsaws and interactive learning toys they have it all. We were especially surprised recently at a selection of Winnie the Pooh 54 small piece jigsaws which have different scenes featuring all the favourite characters ...

Advantages: prices are good, can be ordered mail order too, good choice Disadvantages: limited maybe in smaller stores
I have been very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the toys for the prices that they are sold at in Tesco.
They sell a fair range of toys. I find they are very definately for boys or for girls, don't do such a range of unisex toys (in my branch anyway).
I have a son, and I have bought quite a lot of his toy cars and cuddlies (when baby) from here.
The best value in my eyes is the wooden train sets. Trains/carriages are 99p each (they are ... ...figure of eight track or a larger set that has trees, people, cows etc in.
They have a wide range of accessories like - tunnel, level crosing, ticket office/station (with sounds), platform, turntable etc. The extra's start from about £3 each and are not that expensive. You can also buy extra packs of track, both curved and straight, switching points, crossover points etc. They also have a lovely battery operated loco that stops and starts when it ...

Advantages: cheap, easy, clubcard points1 Disadvantages: Can be a hassle if shopping with the kids!
...do, she loves dolls. Tesco has a great range of cheap dolls and clothes starting from a couple of pounds. they dont last as well because she like sto pull the heads of and change them with her other dolls, but its better than paying £10 + for a barbie and she wrecks that in a a few week!
All in all, good quality affordable toys that you can give to the kids and earn clubcards points on them to boot. ...

...very surprised to find that Tesco stocks such a good range of chidlren's toys. However the best thing is that the toys can be bought by mail order, ordered through the catalogue or over the internet. The best buy for us was the train and road track which was substantially cheaper than the similar brio version. It is perhaps slightly less well made but for a two year old there was really no difference. It is also compatible with brio and others. On ...

Advantages: value for money Disadvantages: limited range
Despite a somewhat limited range larger Tescos stores are coming up with some wonderful, high quality and excellent value toys. For babies they do some lovely soft blocks - highly colourful and easy for small hands to grasp at a very reasonable £8.99. They also do some lovely wind up musical soft cot toys in pastel colours at around £12.99 each. However my favourite is the activity baby toys where they had a brilliant soft elephant with different ... ...this in store recnetly but at about £8 it was a great first toy so hope to see it there again soon.
For Toddlers they do a superb wooden train set where you can get a 15 piece set for £6.99 and a wide range of add ons from £1.49. They also do some great imaginative play toys including a cleaning trolley at £9.99 and a washing machine at around £20. Slightly more expensive but still good value in my opinion is their gourmet kitchen at around £50. ...

...all round helpability from the Tesco staff really did make him happy. But why did my friend go to this wonderful superstore on the edge of town to buy a toy car for his son? Weel ill tell ye, he could of gone to any old toy store, there are many local ones, but what did he want, he wanted good quick smart advice from a set of honest employees that cared more about the customers needs than there next pay packet. ...my children have had with Tesco toys I am pleased to say the toys are frequently played with, they are as strong and childproof as any other similar toy.
