Cheesed off with the price of cheese
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by ranson

Advantages: Tastes good and costs peanuts
Disadvantages: Not quite as tasty as a Maltese goat

...a gurt big slab of Tesco Value Full-Flavoured Cheddar. The mild value cheddar is not very good and has a rubbery texture as a reader has kindly pointed out, so it's definitely the full-flavoured variety you want. This cheese has an EEC label and probably comes from wherever they can get it cheapest. Tesco then packs it in the UK. It has been very reliable for the past six months or so, with a pleasant crumble and a sharp, slightly fruity taste. Best ... Read review

Mousetrap or Cheeseboard?
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by jo145

Advantages: Cheap, mild tasting
Disadvantages: Too mild for some people and can trigger migraine

...true I was rushing around Tesco and came to rest at the cheese shelves. Heaven! I absolutely love cheese. I normally buy Tesco"Finest" and their Cranberry or Apricot Stilton but always add some of the cheaper sort as my son eats cheese as if it's going out of fashion! I know I eat too much cheese but I always say it makes up for the small quantity of mik which I drink. It is a very valuable source of protein and also calcium. Sadly it is also very ... Read review

MILD JUST LIKE ME LOL!
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by weemam

Advantages: lovely taste and brilliant price
Disadvantages: none

Tesco Value Mild coloured cheese I don’t know about you but in this house we go through loads and loads of cheese. Ross loves cheese and I hear him slipping into the kitchen and a couple of minutes later he’s out again I know he’s been at the cheese. I bought myself a marble cheese slice last year and it is great. You can cut it so quick nobody notices :o) It’s only £2.92 a Kg which is a brilliant price in my book Well! ... Read review

BETTER CHEDDAR
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by Hewsgirl

Advantages: Tastes like the 'Premium Stuff'
Disadvantages: Still pricey for what you get

Well, on I go with my series about bargain basement eating. Today it is cheddar cheese. A staple to anyone's fridge, fuzz or no fuzz. I like to put cheddar on most things... bread, pasta, pizza, toast, fajitas and even soup. So naturally I go through a lot of cheese and as cheese buyers will know, it is an expensive little block of goodness that goes into the trolley almost fortnightly. My .45 kg block cost 1.34 at Tesco; and it is value brand ... Read review

Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by jamessmyth199

Advantages: quite cheap
Disadvantages: no taste

...dairy produce section of the Tesco Value factory. (This factory, incidentally, probably doesn’t exist in a physical sense, and I’m sure Tesco’s buy their Value produce from a variety of different suppliers. This I realise. I do, however, have a recurring and quite unshakeable mental image of some huge production plant, staffed by dirty, underpaid workers, churning out low-quality foodstuffs while the foreman barks his nicotine-throated instructions ... mmm it tastes good
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by leeha37

Advantages: in ops
Disadvantages: in ops

Tesco value products a generally really good value for money. I have to say that the value mature cheddar has to be one of the best value products it is so tasty and cheesy and I cannot get enough of it. It gives normally quite bland food a lift. I like to grate some into mashed potatoes, wait for it to melt and then make it fluffy by using an electric whisk on it. It just gives the potato a bit of tang and a lift because as you know mash can be ... Read review

Cheese please!
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by aless02

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Not the strongest flavour ever

...ultra-sharp cheddar shouldn't be buying Tesco Value. When I want a sharper cheddar, I pay more. When I want something easy and yummy for sandwiches, I use Tesco Value. The Red Leicester also has a great taste and is more crumbly, for those wanting a more "cheddar-like" cheese. This cheese comes in blocks of approx. £1, £2, and £3 to suit all family sizes (the weight depends on price, but the pound-per-kilo price is still excellent value) The mild ... Read review
