It's What's Inside That Counts. Or IS IT?

Advantages: cheap and cheeful
Disadvantages: see below

What is it about Tesco Value Products that makes them seem so utterly unappealing? After all, we're all grown ups now. We're media savvy, we don't need a picture of a glisteningly ripe orange dripping with mountain dew in order to persuade us that what's inside the carton is, in fact, orange juice. And yet as soon as I pick up that blue and white pinstripe package, my mind suddenly fills with the unshakeable image of a fat old woman in a stained ...
...instant that this is how Tesco make their Value Orange Juice. Indeed, it would be incredibly surreal if it was. But would it be too much to ask just to paint the carton orange and have done with it. That would be fine. Those blue and white stripes though. Honestly, they might as well just put a picture of a fat old woman on the front and call it Sweaty Old Fat Woman's Hand Squeezed Dirty Diseased Orange Juice. Marketing might have something to say ...

An Orange op for my Orange Dot

Advantages: Taste good, value for money
Disadvantages: None for me, Some may be put off by cheap packaging

...admit that I shop in Tesco because it is the nearest shop to me and not because it is the best or cheapest. One good thing about them is their value range. A vast selection of products that are of a high standard with competitive prices. Today ladies and gentlemen, I am going to talk about their very own orange juice. Packaging ******** Well as you would expect, plain and simple. This 1 litre carton is mostly white with the tell tale blue stripes. ...
...and on the other, the Tesco quality and their contact details. They state that the cartons "contains 4 servings" but that would depend on the size of your glass surely! Nothing really eye-catching here but they do guarantee the quality which to me, is more important than something that just looks good in your cupboard. Prices ****** In my opinion, great value. Priced at £0.42, Tesco ensure you can still buy quality pure orange juice even on ...

Pays Your Money Takes Your Choice

Advantages: Good Value for money
Disadvantages: no juicy bits and ugly packaging

...topic of this opinion - Tesco Value Pure Orange Juice. Packaging Let’s just say that it’s not exactly subtle. In fact it’s so obvious from the packaging that you have selected the most cheapest item in the range. It’s a very basic white 1 litre carton which sports numerous blue vertical stripes. The word “value” is highlighted in red for all to see. So unless you are like me and past caring about image and can ...
...would recommend you place it strategically out of sight under other more reputable brands. Taste and Value Okay. So it isn’t the sweetest of orange but never-the-less it does the job it is meant to and in comparison to more expensive brands it holds its own quite well. It is a smooth orange juice i.e. no juicy bits, which although disappoints me, it pleases my son somewhat. But then again...what do you expect for 38p! Yes you heard (or read) ...

A Pure Orange Juice For Just 35p!

Advantages: Good Value For Money
Disadvantages: High In Sugar

...however, during a trip to Tesco I found myself parting with 35p and purchasing a Carton of their Value Pure Orange Juice. The Packaging If you are not familiar with Tesco's Value range then I will begin by saying that it is all packaged pretty much the same. The emphasis is on cheap and basic so one thing that you can be certain of, if its from their Value range then the packaging is going to be plain and simple. The Pure Orange Juice is packaged ...
...Conclusion I did really enjoy this Tesco Value Pure Orange Juice and I will definitely buy it again. I found It to be very similar to the Asda Smartprice Pure Orange Juice which also costs 35p for the same size 1 Litre Carton. Thank you for reading. ...

NOT SQUEEZED BETWEEN A MAIDEN'S THIGHS

Advantages: Cheap, nutricious, refreshing and versatile
Disadvantages: not squeezed by a perky breasted young maiden

...carton of….ORANGE JUICE. This Tesco variety – the ‘Value’ range – comes in an extremely basic tetra brik of white with dark blue stripes. The packaging straightaway indicates it is from their ‘basic’ range. All supermarkets have them. Cheap n cheerful – with emphasis on the cheap. But at just 39p for a litre carton, Tesco’s own will do me fine. Please don’t expect this OJ to be ‘premium’ quality in any way. It will not have been freshly squeezed ...
...for a litre, whereas this Tesco Value brand is a mere 39p – like I said. So for an everyday drink - and lets not forget it's packed full of Vitamin C - or especially in Summer as a real thirst quencher, this is about as cheap as you can get. But – I hear you ask – is it any good? Bottom line – it tastes like Orange Juice. No added sugar and made from concentrated OJ (unlike something like Libby’s or other Orange Juice ‘drink’ brands, loads of additives ...

JUST JUICE

Advantages: TASTES GOOD
Disadvantages: BIT TOO MUCH SUGAR

Tesco Value pure orange Juice.... Its cheep and it's worth it. I'm not going to bother saying what it is as I'm sure you all know by the name. MY EXPERIENCE...... I really like a glass of orange juice with my breakfast but I never used to buy it as it was too expensive and I used to get it as a treat but when I went into Tesco one day I noticed this juice and the price just being 50p so I brought a carton and took it home and when I tried it I ...
...PRESENTATION...... As it is Tesco value it comes in the boring blue and white carton with a picture of a glass of orange juice on it surrounded by whole oranges, it does look quite appealing but not like some others that have a tropical background. On the presentation on the front it also gives you your guideline daily amount on it and I like to see this as I am kind of wary on my guideline daily intake as I would like to stay healthy. PRODUCT ...

Advantages: Not fake unlike Miss Spears Chest
Disadvantages: Packaging is a bit poo

...a slave for you** Tesco Value. A brand that haunts many a student kitchen. Lurking menancingly with its almost bold blue and white packaging brazenly boasting of it's own cheapness. I regularly buy a number of items from the Value Range and the orange juice is no exception as I tend to consume roughly three or four cartons of this stuff per week as I am not a big fan of actually eating fruit aside from bananas. **Ooops! I've done it again** The ...
...after opening. How nice of Tesco to remind you. **Hit Me Baby One More Time** Some would argue that I have no sense of taste, but leave my choice of men/clothes/colourschemes out of this. I keep buying this juice because it is so reasonable given that 1 litre of the stuff costs a miniscule thirty seven pence. It does not have the pulpy goodness of your more pricey brands, but it remains to be orange juice in all it's unadulterated glory. It does ...

Cool, cheap and refreshing

Advantages: cheap, full of vitamin c
Disadvantages: none

...I brought 2 cartons of tesco value orange juice. They cost 33pence each. The packaging is very simple. It is a white cardboard carton with the easily recognisable blue tesco’s strips on the front of the carton and a picture of oranges. Each carton contains 1 litre of orange juice which is made from concentrated orange juice and is suitable for vegetarians. Tesco’s pure orange juice is long life. I brought my cartons this week and the ...
...When I first tried the tesco value orange juice I was expecting it to taste quite watery because of it being so cheap compared to other brands, but it didn‘t taste at all watery or weak. The taste is very nice. Some orange juices I have tried before have tasted quite bitter but this one is not. Depending on the size of your glass you can get about 4-5 glasses out of the carton. I think the tescos value cartons of orange juice are good value ...

Value is a no no

Advantages: Pretty Cheap
Disadvantages: Disgusting-read op

...make this dull, orange liquid. Tesco Value Orange also has not bits, so it is kind of smooth. And if it did have bits, I would dread to think what they were! SMELL, TASTE AND AFTER TASTE It doesn’t smell as strong as other brands. You can only really smell it when you nose is in the glass almost touching the juice. The taste is disgusting. It’s very dry, not as sour and like it has a mixture of other fruits in it. The after taste isn’t the pleasant ...
...that it’s slim is left on my tongue. Also, I find that it makes me burp so I intend not to drink it around guests. PACKAGING They have recently changed their picture on the front of their carton. They now have a picture of an Orange!!!!! Anyway, the orange juice is held in a cardboard carton, well that what it feels like. And it also looks very cheap. It has blue stripes going around the carton with ‘Tesco Value Orange Juice’ on every side! It’s ...

No good if you're a snob

Advantages: Tastes great, low price
Disadvantages: Packaging might be too obvious for some!

...this opening comment is that Tesco Value Pure Orange Juice comes complete with their familiar ‘value’ packaging, which is basically the same on every product in the ‘value’ range and that is white with a series of blue vertical stripes and the word ‘value’ in bright red! So, when you walk round your local Tesco’s pushing your trolley, everyone knows if you’ve purchased any ‘value’ items! Now, this doesn’t bother me one bit! You can call me a lot ...
...to the orange juice, the Tesco Value Orange Juice is 42p per litre carton as opposed to the others ranging from 67p up to 85p per litre. So what does it taste like? Well, actually, it tastes very nice indeed. But then I suppose, since it is pure orange juice and nothing else, then they are all going to taste pretty much the same, whatever the packaging and price is like. I will just say that it is only available as smooth orange juice, so if you ...

...later and three litres of Tesco Value Pure Orange Juice. "Why three litres?" asked the wife. Obvious answer ... "it was cheap". I just can't turn down a bargain and for those with children, take note, at 19p. a litre, this juice is cheaper than all but the nastiest bottles of pop. Let's take a look at the product in detail. ...parrot, sunny d, and now tesco value. I don't claim to be a connaiseur, just a fairly indiscriminate consumer. But, this tastes good. As with most carton products, give a shake as there is a little settling which left to the end can taste over sweet but apart from that, good flavour. The orange is very strong. My own serving suggestion - purchase the grapefruit juice of the same brand and drink a fifty/fifty mix - takes the sweetness off the orange ...

Like Sunshine in your Mouth, not quite

Advantages: Cheap, tasty
Disadvantages: Nothing beats freshly squeezed

...the striped white and blue tesco value packs. So, one day, out of a dying thirst, I raided his orange juice and to my surprise I found myself wanting a second glass. Now let’s get the facts straight here, it is no ‘freshly squeezed glass of sunshine’ but it is tasty enough to warrant the 35p price for a litre, and definitely a nice cheap way to have a healthy drink in the mornings. There is sugar added, but not enough to make it ...
...as the other two. Tesco sells their value orange juice in the same aisle as all the other juices (obviously) but you must, must, just try it once instead of picking up the Libby’s or other 99p per litre pack. If you are used to freshly squeezed, then you simply have a budget for the higher tastes, but if it’s for your ‘healthy daily drink’ that you’re sipping the O.J. for, value brand is for you. (And me, now that I ...

Tesco Value Juice - Juice Yourself!

Advantages: Cheap product, pretty good taste, smooth, recyclable carton.
Disadvantages: It's not Tropicana is it!

...standard juice carton with the Tesco value logo all over it and telling you that it is orange juice made from concentrate. Upon opening the carton there is a slight chemical smell but you can also smell oranges which is obviously a good start! The juice is smooth with absolutely no bits and looks a little watery when poured out in a glass. The juice smells just like oranges once out of the carton. When tasting the product I notice that it is indeed ...
...if you have a mouth ulcer this is definitely not the product for you! It does not taste completely like oranges, there is a slight after taste left by the product but for a concentrated juice it is about as good as can be expected. A "serving" is 300ml I believe (based on the calorie information) and contains around 120 calories, it is also a good source of your RDA of vitamin C. As Value products go this isn't too bad at all, it's not Tropicana ...

DRINKING SUNSHINE

Advantages: Inexpensive, orangey
Disadvantages: nothing like freshly squeezed

I learned the value of a pound when most of us do... at university. There were the trips down to the shop with the lads, fill the trolley and split the costs. There were the trips by myself with five pounds for the week (because drinking money was 15 pounds) and there were the weeks where I just ate everyone else's nosh when they weren't looking. But the one thing I could always afford, and still buy regularly, is Tesco's Value Pure Orange Juice. ...
...in his fridge that doesn't require microwaving. Tesco's orange juice is sweetened with a small amount of sugar but it takes the bitter edge off that is there in other brands of value litres. For 35p a litre, it is a very cheap source of vitamin C and E. No, there is no replacement for that freshly squeezed taste in Tropicana, but I'd rather not have to pay 99p for one carton when I can get almost three for that price in the value section at Tesco. ...
