Be prepared! that's my motto - or one of them at least - the others focus on never saying no to free food and trying everything twice! Part of this preparedness is to have a well stocked first aid cabinet, which includes the Tesco Stretch Bandage. What is it It's a 5cm x 4.5m stretched white bandage, part of the recently revamped Tesco value range, and priced very competitively at just 28 pence. The normal crepe bandage was priced at 84 pence and of the same size. Usage A nasty fall on a wet floor meant my elbow was poking out of the skin and not tucked neatly under as it should be. A few months ago my youngest daughter broke her toe and had to walk with crutches for a few weeks to help recover. She found that after a day or so her hands were hurting really badly from gripping the handles of the crutches so we thought we would try getting some bandages and wrapping them around the handles to make them more cushioned. We did not want to pay the earth for them so I had a quick look on the Tesco web site as we were just going to put in our monthly grocery order and was pleased to find they sold some on there. They are in their value range and only cost 28p each which is ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Really thin

I have many people on this site as friends over on Facebook. Those of you that are will know of my ongoing neighbour from hell trouble. I have been living with no sleep for weeks now, police know my block really, really well and its so awful here. Anyway with a huge lack of sleep and keeping quiet through their loud drug fuelled parties night out after night I ended up getting drunk in my flat with my best mate. Their noise ended mine did not and they came to complain, for once at me (Ironic eh lol). In my drunken stupor I screamed my head off and completely vented my anger so much so the ... more

Advantages Advantages Not bulky. Stretchy. Price. Sterile in packaging.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe too thin. Narrow.

I have a first aid kit at home which I keep stocked up and so this means replacing anything that I use as I use it. One item I have used and have since replaced also is a bandage which I needed to put on my daughters arm when she had a nasty cut to it and it helped to keep the non-adhesive dressing in place. The bandage I used was a Tesco Value Stretch Bandage which I bought in Tesco for just 28p - which I believe is a pretty fantastic price. The bandage is a basic bandage that doesn't have any bells and whistles - but it does the job. It comes in the Tesco Value wrapping, and it is sterile ... more

My eczema is quite bad at the minute and I have several ugly patches of it on my wrists and ankles. I usually use adhesive dressings whenever my eczema flares up but because I've been moisturising several times a day it's a bit awkward as the adhesive doesn't stick to my skin. I spotted these bandages in Tesco a couple of days ago and bought two of them as at just 28 pence each they seemed like brilliant value and a much cheaper alternative to adhesive dressings. The bandages come rolled up in a plastic packet which is easy to open. The packet is easy to open and the branding while ... more

I tend to go with the supermarket brands wherever is possible to try and save the pennies and first aid products are no different. I bought this bandage from Tesco a while ago just to have in the first aid box and it only cost me about 25p at the time. I have recently ended up using the bandage so am now going to review it. The bandage is part of the Tesco Value range which is now called the Everyday Value range however you can buy very similar items in chemists and other supermarkets. The bandage comes packaged in a simple plastic wrapper which has a piece of paper inside with the name of the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Does the job

Disadvantages Disadvantages No good for sprains and strains - too flexible

We have a couple of the Tesco Value range of support / crepe bandages in our First Aid tin under the stairs in case of emergencies. I have personally only ever used this bandage once before but my other half has used one on herself too in the past. The bandage, as I say, is Tesco’s own brand and as such is simply and plainly packaged as you would expect. The packaging is plain white with the red and blue Tesco logo and simply states ‘Stretch Bandage’. The price is 30p and I personally think this is pretty good value for money when you consider you can pay up to three times this amount for what ... more
